Ever since August 1,1966 at the University of Texas, gun violence has been a steadily growing problem in the U.S.A. Since 1966, 1,081 people of all races, sexual orientation, and religion have died from mass shootings throughout the United States. However, our latest school shooting in Parkland, Florida has sparked millions of people to debate whether or not to ban firearms. Then our current President, Donald Trump, had the idea of to ban guns, but then giving firearms to our teachers in schools. What a terrible idea, but others agree. First of all, guns in general scare people. Which is why the only people who professionally carry guns are police. Teacher is not spelled P-O-L-I-C-E, if they wanted to carry guns as a part of their job you wouldn’t have chosen a career in education. Moreover, I guarantee that most teachers wouldn’t be able to pull the trigger on a former student.

With that logic, we shouldn’t have access to anything. Put with the wrong person, a toothbrush, or anything in the kitchen could be dangerous! We shouldn’t only be worried about what is used, we should be worried about the people who are looking to harm others. Yes, we do need to increase security around purchasing a gun. In America, there are less than three steps to buying a weapon and they are all instantaneous. In Japan it takes more than 8 steps and months of training on the certain firearm to be allowed the purchase of a gun. Yes, we do need to make our schools safer for everyone. Yes, we need to dive into this issue head on. However, we are diverting ourselves from the real situation. We should be focused on spotting the signs of mental instability and potentially risky people and helping
