Colleges around the world are updating their athletic centers to fit the needs of their students. The gym at the CCAC Boyce campus has rickety machines, locked up free weights, and very few machines for the students to use. If a sports team went to the gym for a workout, they would have to split up a considerable amount just for everyone to get a workout. Students engage in exercise to improve their mood and release stress. Building a new athletic center at the Boyce campus would benefit the school and students daily. An obvious benefit to a new athletic center would be the physical benefits it would add for the students. Boyce campus is very small, so students don’t have many places, if any, to exercise. Exercise is obviously important for controlling body weight. An athletic center would give students an entire building dedicated to their physical health. In the past decade, the fitness industry has become extremely popular. Adding this fitness center would make this particular campus more popular for students who live an active lifestyle. As of now, CCAC offers very little student jobs. Finding a job as a college student isn’t the easiest thing in the world. Many places will not hire college students because our schedules are never regular, we always need time off when finals are coming up, and sometimes we just need a day to relax. With a new gym on campus, many different job opportunities would open just in that building alone. Having a gym on campus would also help with students that have to use the bus for transportation. Students would be able to walk to class, go to the gym, and go to work without the need for the bus for most of their day.
