What would be the perfect physical activity facility? A perfect physical activity facility would be a facility with every court, field, pool, rink imaginable. It would be big enough for every member of the facility to train or to just play the sports they want to play. A perfect physical activity facility needs space dedicated to every sport in existence. For example a pool for swimming, water polo, diving, or synchronized swimming. Another example would be a rink for figure skating, hockey, or speed skating. There also will be a chance for sports teams to use the facility to hold any competitive events. The facility will also include a training room with every type of workout machine. Physical therapy will also be available within the facility. Athletes need to rehabilitate their body to a healthy state to perform well, so it is very important for there to be physical therapy in the physical activity facility. This facility will be located where people can get to it easily. It will be intended for anybody’s use, therefore it must be located at a spot where everybody could go without too much trouble. The parking in this facility will also be great. There will be more than enough parking spot for anybody. If there are more members in the future there will be more spaces made. Since traveling in this facility will take a long time, since there are many places, there will be an efficient transporting system where people can reach their destinations in a matter of minutes. To achieve this there will be buses, monorails, and golf carts to move people from one place to another. The cost of this place will be on the pricey side. The gym is relatively square with widows covering half of the room. The other half of the room has a wall of mirrors with the last wall having a hallway to bathrooms as well as the fitness trainer’s office. On one of the window walls it has a row of cardio equipment (that has attached TV’s on them) facing the outside. In the back corner near the cardio equipment is a stretching and body exercise area (kettle bells, mats, exercise balls, medicine balls, and stepping stands). ...hat the facilities are at best decent and nothing relatively superior, is for the use of a gym that isn’t over crowded, and filled with like-minded individuals of the same age and race. My research methods such as an inductive method including participant-observation allowed me to observe the members and how they interacted amongst each other. Most of what I learned came from the women’s locker room, where many of them felt as ease as they discussed diets, workouts, and health issues. The one aspect that did change after using the facilities was that the price included within the membership was not for high end machines, or for state of the art locker rooms with luxurious amenities. The price is paid to be part of a network of older individuals, with like-minded ideas of staying fit for the sake of being healthy, and to work out in a crowd-free, judgment free area.

What would this much needed facility provide for Smallville? The Bigtown Recreation Center is a great model for Smallville, housing several basketball courts, tennis courts, a weight room, and a swimming pool. The programs conducted at the center include athletic clinics in the summer, swimming, basketball, and tennis lessons, and even fitness training and aerobics. These are all activities nearly every citizen can enjoy. So, if Smallville had a similar recreation center, it would benefit the young and old alike.

A recreation center is essentially a gathering of many workout machines; the equipment is the focus of the recreation center. It is good practice to support the heavy equipment in the rec center so that no one gets injured through their use. When you become a member of the student recreation center there are rules for your safety and for proper use of the equipment that you must follow. You must wear proper clothing that protects yourself and the equipment, you must have closed toed shoes, and you must always wear a shirt (during basketball games there is an exception). When you choose to work out at a community fitness center, you raise your chances of running into the typical obnoxious, full-of-themselves gym rat. Three types of obnoxious people found in the weight room of a community fitness center are the show-off, the know it all, and the walker. These types of people can be identified by their appearance and their attitude.
Opponents of physical education in schools state that gym is not the best way to utilize students’ time. Students’ should be given the choice to participate in gym class or not because many students aren’t as athletic and don’t enjoy it enough to want to do it in school. Despite this downfall, PE is important in students’ life and even though some don’t enjoy it as much, they need it in order to be successful in life. If not, diseases and health risks could come up and it wouldn’t be robust. Ultimately, physical education provides superior benefits.
The gym where I train and workout, the Dubuque Martial Arts Group, is a place where I know who I am. It is a place I can go to escape my problems for a while and release some stress. It's not the actual physical building, but rather the events that have occurred there over the years. It's where I have formed some of my closest friendships. It is the place I have invested years of hard work for many of my accomplishments. To some it may seem odd that a place associated with sweat, blood and physical pain mean so much to someone. However, in my eyes it's almost like a second home.
Sports programs have been an integral part of all schools. They support the academics of the school and therefore foster success in life. These programs are educational and help produce productive citizenship. They help students experience and build skills that may help them in their future, like interpersonal and time management skills. Education may kindle the light of knowledge, but sports help to maintain the proper physique. Sports are also an important means of entertainment and a use for energy after long hours of study. Physical education time is being cut in schools to give more time for students to focus on core courses such as Science, Math and Reading. Some districts have eliminated the course or do not even provide it. These courses, although are very important, should not take away from a student’s well-being. Physical education provides a foundation to a student’s future lifestyle and good health habits. Physical education should be treated like every other foundational course because it is a necessary part of a student’s lifestyle that will benefit from every day.
