High School sports players are proven to have close relationships with their teammates and they are able to cope with each other. This is good because it will help them later in life when they're at a job or anything else where they have to work with one another. But some High Schools are thinking of taking away these sports from the students. High Schools should keep funding the sports programs because they are helping them in Positive ways.
Furthermore, The Student’s academic abilities are helped by High School sports. Director, institute for the study of youth sports claims, “For example, a multiyear (SIC) study conducted in Michigan has shown that children who participate in sports have increased educational aspirations, closer ties to school and increased occupational aspirations in youth.” Clearly High School sports do not only get the student’s bodies in shape, but also their minds. Sports help students academically because athletics help them focus on what they are being told to do. Continuously, High School sports keep the students physical health high and the obesity rate down.
In Katie Couric’s video, it says,“The high School basketball team has practice every day after school,” (qtd in KCRA 3 Sacramento). Some people think that this might be excessive but as their Physical tolerance level increases it won’t be as hard because they get used to the running, drills, etc. Also, sports help the obesity rate. R.Dawn Comstock, a primary investigator at the Center for Injury Research and Policy at Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, says, "We have an epidemic of obesity in this country, and sports is one of the best ways for kids to incorporate exercise in their lives.” A lot of sports keep the students active by practicing a lot and that keeps them active and healthy.
Some people may think that sports such as football will injure the students. This is a false statement because R.Dawn Comstock says, "So, at the high school level, especially with younger players, coaches can make sure the athletes are very well-coached in the technique of tackling and are physically able to perform a tackle before they are allowed to play." This is true because when people think of sports injuries, they think of football. Coaches are responsible for their athletes fundamentals and playing
safe. Ultimately, High Schools should keep funding the sports programs because they help the students in many beneficial ways. Many Kids lack confidence in sports which also affects their performance in school. The obesity rate in America is already too high and a perfect way to fix that is by participating in sports. Some of the student’s Closest friends are meet through sports. Some of the loneliest kids lack confidence in sports. Once High Schools realize that the sports programs are only helping the students, they will Come to a consensus about funding the athletics.
Sports are a crucial part of an individual 's character. Counter arguments made against having sports at schools are getting more and more public. The arguments make people, think again about having students play sports. Sports are useful because they give players skills they can use on and off the field: strength, leadership, and confidence.
“Maybe I´m stupid or whatever, but to me if I got a concussion, if I could see straight and carry a football, then I´m not telling anybody”, Ricky Williams, NFL Football player. The argument about whether kids should play football or not is an important topic to argue. People need to understand that the concussions and other injuries are more serious with young kids. The problem is that many people think that it could be stopped by not allowing kids to play at all. Although parents can reduce risk of injury by not allowing their kids to play football, parents should let their children play football because it lets kids follow their dreams, it helps kids become more mature and independant, and if kids use proper technique they can reduce injuries.
High school football may be dangerous but it is also a life altering experience. From what these boys can do out on the field to what they can become in life and all the things they can accomplish, putting it in peoples head that it is a dangerous sport is ridiculous. Yes, football can cause some serious injury but those chances aren’t very high and what are these boys going to get out of life if they never take that risk? Then end up asking themselves, “what if?” These boys should not let anything get in the way of what they want to do because even if they fail
When I go to a gymnastics meet and do really good, so I get that 1st place medal or trophy. It feels amazing, I mean the sport gymnastics is competitive and I sure do love competitive sports. The competitiveness gets you that rush of excitement. You feel nervous, but excited to get in there and try your hardest. Kids make better choices and have committed when they have the drawbacks of participating in competitive youth sports.
First of all high school sports are not beneficial because it puts too much stress on the kids because they want to make their parents happy and want to keep their grades up or if they don’t they could get cut from the team . The pressure from the parents is sometimes too much. According to KCRA.com this statement is important because it highlights that they have to worry about not getting dropped from the team because they have to make sure grades are staying up and then they have to worry about their practice and being a valuable player on the team. According to helpguide.org this could lead to, a lot of stress and that could be bad for the student because they might get health
It is considered that football is the most viewed sport in the United States, over 200 million people watch the regular season which consists of 256 games, and about 114 million people watch the Super Bowl alone which is the final game of the season. The National Football League roughly makes over 500 million for a regular season and their players get paid an average of 2.11 million, but that is the NFL.
Wake up in the morning, every morning, before the sun has risen. Hit the gym at five in the morning, before long, head to school, and finally precede back to working out and practicing. This is the exhausting day-to-day life of the majority of college athletes. Athletes that spend countless hours working with the result that they can be the best they can possibly be. At their best they make their school millions and millions of dollars and the maximum they can receive out of it, is a free education. College athletes should receive a stipend to play their sport. There is not much of a difference between keeping a college scholarship and keeping a job in a professional sports team, they bring millions of dollars to their school each year, and
The National College Athletic Association has been having problems with college athletes, and money for many years now. The NCAA has had problems in the past, and present with college athletes accepting money from college boosters. A booster is a person who supports a college team. Most college boosters are alumni, community members, parents of current or former players, or even professors or other college employees. Whether they are attending a game, giving money, or buying a car for an athlete, they are still considered a booster. This problem has occurred many times over time and needs to be addressed because it is affecting the world of college football.
What could you do to prepare your kids for success in the future? Sports are one of the best ways to prepare kids for success in the future for many reasons. According to University of Missouri Health Care, “Sports require memorization, repetition, and learning - skill sets that are directly relevant to class work.”(muhealth). Not only do sports help them become better students, but they also prepare them both mentally and physically and teach them multiple life lessons that will better them in the long run. The great thing about sports is that anyone can participate as long as they have the passion for it.
I believe schools should not force students to participate in organized sports. Medical conditions, such as asthma, prevent students from being able to participate. Family situations may leave the student with no ride to or from practice. Students may not have time to be able to
Controversy strikes as talks of payment to college athletes are on the rise. Recent cases have brought about whether or not the country’s beloved student-athletes should be paid to play. The answer to that question is no, reason being that these “athletes” are students before anything, including a celebrity. College athletes, especially those who play football or basketball, are being compensated more than fairly enough through their scholarships as is. It’s public perceptions that the NCAA and/or the university these students attend are blatantly neglecting them. No, there is simply more to it. Most schools barely come by enough money to pay student-athletes, whether it be basketball, football, baseball, or even tennis and golf.
Student athletes live very busy lives. A typical school day runs from 8:00-2:30, add in a two- hour practice or game, score a part time job, dive into some family time, a grand slam of homework and catch a little bit of sleep. Students are more stressed due to the many activities they are a part of. This issue affects a lot of people not only in this school district, but most other high schools throughout the country. All student athletes exercise more than other children who are not involved in an extracurricular sport. In school athletics, the players are called “student athletes” meaning that school activities come first. There are strict rules for student athletes, not only on the field but in the classroom as well. In physical education
Confucius once said, "he who does not do well is less guilty than he who pushes too hard." People found that competitive sports are often physically straining and it is detrimental to proper emotional development. This blows away the misconception that competitive sports create a healthy and engaging atmosphere for kids. This and an overly strong obsession with winning create a toxic mix for the child’s wellbeing. People have begun to realize the world of competitive may be doing more harm than good for their children. Parents have also begun to notice that competitive sports often injure their children severely and also make the child feel left out, which in turn is detrimental to the child 's emotional health. Therefore, competitive sports
Many would disagree with me and say that high school sports actually have more benefits than negativities for a student. For example a student in sports would be more active which would make them fitter and healthier. A student that in a team sport would make more friends which would improve their social skills and increase their
Sports programs have been an integral part of all schools. They support the academics of the school and therefore foster success in life. These programs are educational and help produce productive citizenship. They help students experience and build skills that may help them in their future, like interpersonal and time management skills. Education may kindle the light of knowledge, but sports help to maintain the proper physique. Sports are also an important means of entertainment and a use for energy after long hours of study. Sports increase a student’s performance not only in the classroom but also in their life.
