High School sports players are proven to have close relationships with their teammates and they are able to cope with each other. This is good because it will help them later in life when they're at a job or anything else where they have to work with one another. But some High Schools are thinking of taking away these sports from the students. High Schools should keep funding the sports programs because they are helping them in Positive ways. Furthermore, The Student’s academic abilities are helped by High School sports. Claimed in KCRA 3 Sacramento, “When the sports season is over, the student’s grades tend to drop.” School sports doesn’t just help with physical abilities and discipline but also work ethic towards learning. In Katie Couric’s video, it says,“The high School basketball team has practice every day after school,” (qtd in KCRA 3 Sacramento). Some people think that this might be excessive but as their Physical tolerance level increases it won’t be as hard because they get used to the running, drills, etc. Also, sports help the obesity rate. R.Dawn Comstock, a primary investigator at the Center for Injury Research and Policy at Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, says, "We have an epidemic of obesity in this country, and sports is one of the best ways for kids to incorporate exercise in their lives.” A lot of sports keep the students active by practicing a lot and that keeps them active and healthy.
Some people may think that sports such as football will injure the students. This is a false statement because R.Dawn Comstock says, "So, at the high school level,especially with younger players, coaches can make sure the athletes are very well-coached in the technique of tackling and are physically able to perform a tackle before they are allowed to play."
