12) Some communities are relying on enacting rolling brownouts. It would be equally beneficial as well as dangerous. In the recent past, the budget cuts have become so large that loads of fire stations are on the verge of closing while many have already undergone closure. We, as workers in the fire department, cannot stay calm and watch this vital facility be methodically eradicated by violent expenditure cuts. One cannot close dozens of fire stations and make hundreds of firefighter to lose their jobs without negotiating for the public protection.
People of those communities which are closing fire stations must understand that the life of the people is being at risk by the government. The fire station is the only department in a particular

This is what the people expect from them to be extremely courageous in these rescue acts. But if the fire stations are closed, they would not be allowed to carry on their standard experience on which the people rely. Therefore, the government is putting the life of its people at risk with minimum fire stations and the existing stations would be far enough requiring more time to reach the emergency spot.
In contrast, closing down the stations has its own benefits as well. Reports from various city controllers have shown that the overall spending has been decreased to a significant extent. The government strategy of closing the stations have managed to save considerable amount of the budget to be used in other various activities while at the same time keeping the public safety risks minimum. In making the decisions to protect people’s lives from hazards and disasters, evacuations sometimes become necessary. Of course early in the reaction to the incident, or the response phase, this may become a decision for local and state emergency managers. The San Diego, California wildfire which occurred in October 2007 caused a large scale evacuation. This essay is an analysis, and identification of lessons learned from the evacuation incident. As well a plan of personal recommendations and improvements will be made based on information covered in the National Housing strategy, and Robert Stafford Act.
The City of Detroit, Michigan, seems to be a city on the decline in America. Job prospects some of the lowest in the country and one of the only cities to be shrinking, rather than growing. There are a lot of problems Detroit is facing, one of them is there incidence rate for fires. Detroit is the number one city in America for house fires, not to mention their high rate of fires in the many vacant buildings throughout the city. There are many socioeconomic factors with the city that make the incident rates rise, and response less effective.
When it comes to service, facilities need to go above and beyond the ordinary to add value. For example, the facility needs to provide meals. Having various options and settings adds value.
Fire safety education is a crucial aspect of fire prevention. The general public needs to know how big of a threat fire is to them and how they can do things in their everyday lives to improve their safety, as well as preventing the threat of fire to begin with. The commission also realized that it was critically important that people know how to properly act once a fire has started. It is important that people have the knowledge to act quickly, safely, and effectively. When people don’t understand fire they can react in many negative ways such as panicking, not evacuating effectively, or by trying to fight a fire that they are not going to be able to extinguish. All these human reactions can decrease safety and end with tragic results. In the commission’s report they approximate that nearly 70 percent of all building fires were due to people acting carelessly because they did not understand the fire dangers that were present. The commission cited studies like one conducted in southeast Missouri. In the southeast Missouri community, a huge emphasis was put into public fire safety education because the fire death rate of the community was much higher than the national average. After increasing fire safety education in the community it was no surprise that the rate of deaths and injuries decreased
Tinker v. Des Moines School Area is a case about representative discourse. The Vietnam War which endured from 1955 until 1974, was a fight amongst North and South Vietnam, North Vietnam needed to join the nation under socialism. South Vietnam opposed with the assistance from America. Before the finish of 1965, there were a great many American officers battling in the war.
Why, at a time like this, would it be deemed appropriate to minimize the staff and shrink the budget of the fire service?
Prescribed fires are a well debated topic. While many people support them because they "help prevent" more wildfires, and they are "controlled," I see from a different point of view. There's a reason most building don't allow smoking within a certain distance of the building. Many people don't like it and it can damage their health. Same thing with prescribed fires. They add more pollution to the air we breathe. I know a lot of people support these kinds of fires because the help control fuels, but there are other ways.
The Great Chicago Fire started on October 8th, 1871 and is said to be one of the biggest events in Chicago’s history. To this day, nobody really knows how the fire was started; however, most say it started in a barn behind the home of Patrick and Catherine O’Leary. There are claims that their cow was the cause, but that’s just one of the many myths that were started. The way that most of the buildings were built during this time, it was only a matter of time before a major fire happened. With all the catastrophic events that took place during the fire, there were also many great effects that occurred after the fire was over and the reconstruction process began.
... decreasing the staff on duty, the more at risk firefighters are for being overworked. Another point to include is that firefighters may need the extra resources if the fire grows out of hand and the firefighters need to quickly put out the fire. All in all, the fire service could change a couple protocols to help save money, lives and natural resources but is it worth the risk to experiment and be unprepared?
It is sad to say that the killing of Walter Scott by Officer Slager is all too familiar. Every time we turn around there is a black man, black woman, black little girl, or a black little boy that is being gunned down by those who are supposed to protect us. I read somewhere online that in the past five years there have been two hundred police shootings in the state of South Carolina, seventy of them resulted in deaths, and none of the officers were found guilty. We must stop the violence of our people, especially by those who are supposed to protect and save us. We have to stop sitting and waiting on decisions, and go demand them ourselves. It is necessary that we keep our young black men and women out of the streets and prison systems and
There are many duties that come along with being a police officer. It’s not just about wearing the uniform, driving the nice car, and arresting people. Police officers need to set good examples to the people around them. They also have to talk and give information to any pedestrians that may need help. They heck for any law violations, respond to radio calls, watch for anything suspicious going on, and they also need to investigate any dangerous conditions that could harm anyone.
1) What are some of the fire anomalies an arson investigator will look for during an investigation? A fire investigator will first ensure that the fire did not have an accidental cause, by searching for clues like faulty wiring, cigarette smoking and overheated electric motors. Then the investigator will begin an extensive on-site investigation by first looking for containers that are capable of holding an accelerant, as well as an ignition device such as a candle. The investigator will also be looking for irregularly shaped patterns on the floor, which could be caused by the accelerant. Finally, the accelerant will search for signs of breaking and entering and theft.
Creating the awareness among the students helps them on the various ways to avoid fires. If possible students are advised to ensure that all the fire alarms and extinguishers are in working conditions at all times. They should also be careful and alert when using any appliance that is likely to cause a fire and avoid using anything that is prohibited in the rooms.
Firefighting has been a thankless job since the beginning. It started out as a group of people with one objective; to extinguish a fire. They did not worry about the consequences or repercussions from not having any personal protective equipment. The equipment to help keep all firemen safe has drastically changed from being non-existence to the upmost importance. Without safety equipment, firemen cannot perform their job to the best of their ability. Firemen use turnout gear which has three major parts; helmet, jacket, and SCBA.
