Bullying is hard to pin point exactly why it starts and for what reason. It can be as something small or big in which the person is not able to understand why it’s happening to them. Psychological, personal and professional destruction is happening to the person and they don’t understand why. It was good at first but things started to go south once the agency was receive multiple cases. The agency was under a lot of pressure on being able to approved and look over cases in a fast pace matter. This situation was putting stress on everyone and felt rushed when doing their job. Deborah started feeling under pressure and felt she wasn’t giving her all as she did in the past. Deborah started feeling disrespected by her supervisor as she felt that he will only scream at her instead of the rest of the employees. She did not understood why this was happening to her.
Deborah started feeling worse as it was happening more often than before. She couldn’t believe that she was getting bullied by her own supervisor. She let the time pass and thought that her supervisor might be having a bad day. The day turn into days and then into weeks. The bullying started from a simple look from her supervisor and started escalating from that point on. The theory background is based on a research conducted by Djurkovic, McCormack, & Casimir (2005), which related workplace bullying and victims' reactions, divided in three possible categories: assertiveness, avoidance, and seeking formal help. According to the results of this research, the avoidance reaction was the most common revealed (p. 451). Also Ayoko, Callan & Härtel (2003) related bullying and conflict events in the workplace as well as interpersonal relationship problems, their intensity, frequency and duration in the organizational environment. I want to create awareness of bullying against teens of all religions, race, and sexual orientation. Societal patterns today make bullying a difficult issue to eliminate. Starting in 2007, a total of 35 states made laws to go against bullying at school. These laws consisted of a clear definition of bullying, and how schools will be required to enforce uniform standards of conduct. The reason bullying comes as such an issue to me is because I actually know friends that have been suicidal and have caused themselves harm due to being bullied every day, in school and at home.
