Skills I have
I think the different skills I have possessed are persuasion, listening, counseling and anger management skill.
Example of the use of the skill in a practical situation
I actively using those acquired skills in different situations whether at work, home, community, organization and to my studies. I considered listening skill as exceptionally important above all in receiving vital instructions or advises from a boss, co-employee, parents, and people in the community. I believe that active communication would break the boundary that sets people apart and the best wisdom in the world would not acquired if we fail to listen. Persuasion, on other hand, if I had influenced the decision of my friends, siblings and even my parents, it became more effective when I speak with authority and confidence.
Although the counseling skill I have rarely used, however I believed I have the ability to transform a person's life using the skill. Every time a friend or co-workers of mine face a dilemma, in unusual circumstances they will asked me to contribute for solution. As a future manager, I believe that learning how to speak confidently in front of other people is highly significant. I want to learn this skill so I can use it in different situations, which required speaking. If you do not have the skill, it would be difficult to interrelate with your audience. On top of that, the delivery of the message might be devastating. Besides, I want to learn the skill in selling, not only how to sell physical products, as well as, how to effectively sell my self to my future employers. Some of my key strength’s in dealing with others include my ability to teach others, deescalate situations by recognizing and acknowledging the perspectives of others, and my willingness to be of assistance.
The ability to communicate effectively in a group. My best asset when communicating would be my ability to empathize with other people. I am very good at putting myself in others shoes and I think that makes me a better communicator.
Finally, leadership, my most valuable skill. Leadership is useful in any career and any situation. In band, I've used it a lot. Now that I'm going into the real world and my career, I know I will use it even more. My leadership has rewarded me personally. I feel like I have already made a difference in the lives of my peers. Leadership can get me anywhere in life and I expect that this alone could get me all the way to my college graduation. These strengths have allows for me to flourish in school and the activities I participate in. Another strength that I have is being an active listener. I listened to my clients and utilized a lot of micro skills. Insuring confidentiality was also a strength that I developed closer to the end of field placement. Conducting assessments and making sure I tracked and exhausted the topics was also a strength that I identified throughout field. My first strengths to communication are (responsibility for communication) the meaning of responsibility for communication means when someone knows how the person is feeling, and when someone sees them self in their shoes of any person they are talking with. For example, a woman starts to talk to the men about her having problems about her job. Once the woman talks to the mean about the situation the man starts to feel what the women is feeling and understands being in the same situation she is in. in this kind of situations ,I’m understandable when someone is going through the worst time and other times I can relate to these people I talk to. While working or while looking for work there are certain skills sets that are universally important. No matter what job or career path you have chosen these skills make it easier to obtain your goals, whatever they may be.
Meaningful communication between two or more individuals rarely leads to 100% agreement between all parties involved. More commonly, there are disagreements on certain points. In a close relationship like a marriage, which is also a partnership; in a strong business relationship; or in a hostage situation, these disagreements must be worked out satisfactorily for both sides in order for the relationship to remain healthy and/or the outcome to be positive. When the parties must reach an agreement or a compromise, one of the best communication strategies is negotiation.
I like communicating with other people, and much of my life consists of me with my friends. Communicating with people is a good way to become social and comfortable around people. Public speaking is my least favorite part of communicating but I feel if I go into business, it will be one of the most important things to learn. If I have to give a big speech, it could be the first time several upper management bosses really hear what I have to say, and if I give a poor speech and look frightened, it could make them think I am incompetent and cannot communicate.
These are the skills I already have such as: communication; personal skills; motivational; creative and time management skills. These I have previously acquired will help me to be successful in my career. To know how far on the scale of these specific skills I will have to do a self-assessment. The skill that I am the best at or at least would give myself the highest score in would be showing empathy. I am not sure why I am skilled in this it just seems to come naturally to me. I have always found myself to be a very empathetic person who is able to understand the thoughts, feelings, beliefs and, attitudes of others almost as well as my own. One way that I have shown empathy is by being open to learning about the experiences of others including other cultures, races and religions. Skill can be the deciding factor in whether you will be very successful or unsuccessful in certain activities in your life.
