After three years of working as a technician for Roxbury Community College, I want to return to academics and further my knowledge of information technology by studying at UMass Lowell. I graduated from Framingham State University in 2010 with a degree in Computer Science, which promptly enabled me to enter the workforce that same year. I chose to begin working in the field to gain some practical experience and solidify my goals of advancing in a technical career. I have loved my work from the beginning: especially learning cutting edge methods and discussing solutions to difficult problems with the senior technicians. I was fortunate to have professors at Framingham State who would challenge as well as mentor us. Because of this, I am always seeking new projects and advancement in my skills. I was recently approached and asked to develop a website for a charity non-profit in Haiti. This proved successful due to my technical aptitude and ability to learn quickly, which I gained through my years at Framingham State. Knowing that there are many aspects to Information Technology, I anticipate using these skills throughout the future. Many people have asked why I did not continue directly to graduate school after obtaining my degree. The answer is that I wanted to make sure that I had chosen the correct subject and right place before embarking on a course of study that would involve many years of my life. The years between have matured me both personally and professionally, giving me the discipline to work hard and strive for the best. When I began taking business courses to assist in my career, I found that my poor performance at the undergraduate level became overshadowed.
