Throughout my childhood, I was constantly exposed to different facets of nutrition. Growing up in a health-conscious household encouraged me to develop a healthy attitude towards food. However, at the age of seven I began to take notice of the health issues present in my grandfather. Recognizing that he had many diet restrictions affected my overall view of food and health. My family, thus, created a foundation for what I would later discover to be my greatest passion.
I discovered my deep interest for nutrition when I took the Introduction to Nutrition course my first year of college. Filled with enthusiasm over what I learned in class, I was eager to share the information with others in hopes of helping them make changes for improving their overall health. Everything I learned about nutrition fascinated me, and the desire to dig deeper into the subject was instilled in me. My deep appreciation for the complexity of the human body combined with my desire to understand how food affects it moved me to study nutrition.
