Personal Philosophy Statement
The first thing I try to do in the morning is thank the man upstairs for my health and protection. Being in good health and eating healthy is very important to me. Growing up as a child with five other siblings, we didn’t have the latest and greatest of things. What we had was what mom and dad could afford. Unfortunately, our food choices were also limited to only what we could afford. With five children to provide for, I believe it’s safe to say that eating clean/organic was pretty much out of the question.
I remember when I was child having a lot of stomach issues. I would always get sick from the school lunches and seemed to have a very weak stomach, but the doctors never could diagnose me with anything. As
I transitioned into my adult life, my stomach issues just got worse. I was later diagnosed with Crohn’s disease about a year after having my daughter and this is really what sparked the drive in me to lead a healthier lifestyle and pursue my career in the field of dietetics. I wanted to eat better and live better for me personally but more importantly for my little girl. My daughter is what drives me each and every day to be better. I feel that it is my duty to teach her healthy eating/living habits early on, so that she can live a long and healthy lifestyle. At the end of the day, my satisfaction comes from knowing that my family is in good health and out of harm’s way. I am well aware that some things in life aren’t preventable, but I try to go out of my way to prevent the things that can be. I truly believe that by following a clean/organic diet, we are adding years to our life and vice versa. I strongly believe that a healthy life equals a happy life, and what better way to achieve this goal then by continuing my education here at Gaston College, as a dietetic technician. As the popular saying goes, “if we knew better we would do better.” I now know that eating a clean, healthy and well balanced diet, along with regular exercise, can possibly prevent certain diseases and illnesses. I feel that it is my duty to spread that knowledge on to those that may not know this and that is exactly what I intend on doing, starting with my family at home.
Every student has a diverse learning style. I believe that students should learn in a safe, caring, and understanding environment. As professional educators, we should provide this safe and open-minded environment.The ways to ensure this environment is to make sure students are actively involved in their education, to make sure teachers are providing the best materials for students to learn, and to make sure parents and the community are involved in students education.
What is the purpose of education? A question that has been asked for centuries and defined in many ways; each theorist will argue their views on education is unsurpassed, yet it remains a question, that the future of our children depends upon. My personal philosophy of education is to create an environment that allows every child the freedom and ability to discover, create and pursue their interests; ultimately becoming the best they can, for an evolving and unpredictable future. Within this framework, the purpose being to encourage learning through children’s interests, by personalising education for the individual and interlacing subjects to engage and entice learning. While discussing my personal philosophy of education, I will explain the aim of education, consider the role of the teacher and the learner and present effective teaching methods and practices for within the classroom. This essay will demonstrate that Dewey, Friedman, Neill, Noddings, Robinson, and Zhao, support my personal philosophy and prove in contrast with the theories of Skinner and Rousseau.
... each and every day how to fight against germs that are unfamiliar to them. Our bodies play a vital area as to how our bodies are getting sick or healthy. A sudden change of diet can have a negative affect on our bodies, I have experienced this myself when we changed to a vegan diet for a week.
When I think about the moments leading up to my diagnosis I remember feeling weak, confused, shaky and sleepy. I did not notice that I had began sleeping throughout the day. My body was craving soft drinks like soda and juice but not food. Days would go by and I eventually fell into a deep slumber that I found myself only waking up from to use the bathroom. I knew something was wrong and that if I did not get to a hospital it would get worse. Nothing could have prepared me for the life changing diagnosis I would receive.
Growing up, I have always known that I wanted to work in the education field. I believe helping students learn and grow is my purpose in life. I believe the purpose of education is to see students develop and grow. I believe the role of the student is to come to school and learn new information that they can apply to their lives. I believe the role of the paraprofessional is to be the assistant for the teacher and provide assistance to the students. I believe the community plays a major role in education, especially the parents and guardians. They are a part of their child 's education and provide support for them when they need it most. Celiac Disease was very unknown in the early 2000’s, making it hard for doctors to diagnose. Most people that develop the disease do so during adulthood, but I was born with it. From birth, my immune system would attack the protein found in wheat, rye, malt, oat, and barley; when attacking the protein, the walls of my stomach and intestines were also being damaged. I would have stomach aches and vomit almost every day. Because the doctors had not diagnosed the disease, I continued to eat gluten, and it continued to cause my body to destroy itself.
Throughout life, a person can expect to endure many challenges, trials, experiences, accomplishments and disappointments. How one recovers, from those challenges, and can set the lifespan is a lifelong process from birth to death and includes the formation of identity (Broderick & Blewitt, 2015). I will cover in the paper six life events that influence my identity development from childhood to middle adulthood. Each life event will be explained based on the significance of the event as well as the impact the event had on my development. Also, theories will be discussed as they relate to my development.
It is incredible to understand how the way someone was nurtured as a child could have such an effect on there adulthood. I personally believe that the events that occurred in my early childhood were stepping stones to defined me as the person I am today.
Growing up for me some would say it was rather difficult and in some ways I would agree. There have been a lot of rough times that I have been through. This has and will affect my life for the rest of my life. The leading up to adoption, adoption and after adoption are the reasons my life were difficult.
As mentioned by Perrenialism that education is the preparation for the future. But when one gets to the core of the word it is really important to society. Without education, society will fall apart. My goal in life is to help my student become productive citizens. Montessori believed in the worthiness, value and importance of children. Her method doesn’t compare a child to norms or standards that are measured by traditional educational systems. It is founded on the belief that children should be free to succeed and learn without restriction or criticism. He also believed that the school environment should be an environment where students learn to respect themselves and others. The knowledge taught should allow students to think and act independently.
Individuals’ life and personal experiences play an important role in one’s development. As a matter of fact, the path from infancy to adulthood can be shaped by many factors that happen during the individual’s life. According to Drewery and Claiborne (2010), human development is an area of study that seeks to analyse and understand how ongoing changes affect people’s life and their development. There are many theories around human development, yet all of them share the notion that there are several universal stages that take place in every individual’s development: childhood, adolescence and adulthood (Drewery & Claiborne, 2010). This current essay aims to explore and analyse one of the three life stages that characterised human development:
Learning a first language in childhood is an experience that all normal functioning humans undergo. Learning a second language after childhood, however, is an experience which not everyone attempts or succeeds in. The question of whether learning one’s first language as a child is the same as learning subsequent languages as an adult is one that interests psychologists, scientists and linguists alike. Although in many respects the acquisition process of children learning their first language and adults learning their second, third or fourth language is similar, overall there are striking differences between the manner in which these two groups do so, which mean that the process is not essentially the same across both these groups.
Ever since I was a little boy, I always dreamt that I would have a corporate job.
Babyhood is the time from when you are born till you 're 18 months old. Like everybody else, I don 't remember anything at all from this time. Whatever I do know is from my parents, siblings and other family members. My mother told me I wanted to appear into this world earlier than I should have. If not for the medications that let me arrive at the proper time, I may not have been here today writing this very sentence. I was born on 19th December, 1999 in Gujarat, India. My parents tell me I was a very quite baby and never troubled them much at all. I would never start crying in the middle of the night, arousing the entire neighborhood. My older brother would often look at me, and state how huge my eyes looked. As a baby, I was very fair, and often was referred to a white egg. Everyone loved to play and touch my cheeks when I was a baby.
Personal Development is a lifelong process that involves the assessment of current skills and talents and the enhancement of oneself based on that assessment which then leads to the realization of goals and an improved quality of life. To be able to assess yourself, you need to be able to reflect on your past which helps you to understand the attitudes you have developed and the foundation that you will be building your life on. Also, you have to reflect on your present to see if there’s room for improvement and reflect on your future so that you can achieve your aspirations.
