Based on what I have learn; about my learning style. I am a physical learner, which means that I learn better by doing something. Also I learn that I am a solitary learner. A solitary learner means that I learn better by doing things on my own. Therefore one of the four effective ways to enhance my ability to study more effectively; would be to make up a songs that go along with what I am studing, The second one would be to go to a quiet spot, and just study. The Third one would be to give myself a minute,,and write down as much as I could in that minute. I would do it how many times I want, and each time I would try to write more than I did before . All these are effective in for to get more out of my studies.
It was really interesting to learning about college culture, which just means like if a college is a sporty school,or if it is a very laid back types of school. to. Mars hill University culture is a very laid back , and it is a very outdoors type of school. It also has a program that I can get my teaching license. Also I would be able to get my license to be a special ed teacher, which is really what I want to do, and the only I will get there is by working hard. There are many transferable skill that I have.
That would be helpful at college, but the two that stand out the most; would be that I am a fast learner. The second one would be that I have a big heart. These skills will help me both outside, and inside the classroom. Is because I would be able to help other students/ co works, with anything they need help on, and have a smile on my face when doing it. Even though I am a fast learner. I still have trouble with spelling, reading, and science, Even though I am not that good in those areas. The good thing about going to college is that they have student affairs. which student affairs are centers that help students in the areas that they need help the most. I can benefit from the student affairs by being able to do better in area that I need help. I am really glad that college has students affairs; because if they did not many students would not do as
well. At the beginning of the course I was really set on going to mars hill, but after learning more about different college. I learn that mars hill was not the best school to go to. The reason is that they don't have a high rate of gratuities, with that being said it raised a red flag for me. I realize that college is not about, Oh, they have the major I want, and I can get in easy. It is about getting the best learning possible, so that I can have a good future. If I had not taking the ACA 122. I would of never found out of Mars hill, and realize that I want better for myself. Even though I will not be going to the college that I had originally planned on going too. My heart is set on being a special ed teacher, and to be honest the more I learn in ACA 122. The more that I realize that becoming a special ed is what I really want to do with my life. Now all I hve to do is find a good college to go to.

As the dull scent of chalk dust mixes imperceptably with the drone of the teacher's monotone, I doodle in my tablet to stay awake. I notice vaguely that, despite my best efforts in the shower this morning after practice, I still smell like chlorine. I sigh and wonder why the school's administration requires the students to take a class that, if it were on the Internet, would delight Mirsky (creator of Mirsky's Worst of the Web), as yet another addition to his list of worthless sites. Still, there was hope that I would learn something that would make today's first class more than just forty-five wasted minutes... It wouldn't be the first time I learned something new from the least likely place.
There is a quote, of contested origins, having no rightful owner. That quote is recited as follows: "Everybody is a genius. But, if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” While we stand in hindsight, we often look back upon where we came and what experiences brought us to the point we are now. I think of this quote often as I reflect upon my intellectual growth. I wonder how my life might have been different had I not been told I was stupid. I sat depressed thinking of the intellectual challenges that will face Shane and how those same challenges adversely affected my will to learn. In that moment, I faced a monumental question: If we are comparable thinkers, are we compare
Attending college has helped me see the right benefits that will help me achieve my ultimate dream goals. First of all, I want to be able to learn how to relate to different cultures, ethnicities, and personalities, and also be able to understand different backgrounds, the way people from diverse culture think and act and their lifestyles; In addition, I want to learn how to adapt to new situations including dealing with responsibilities such as using Blackboard and making sure that all my assignments are completed and submitted on time. Furthermore, I will have to learn how to adapt to being an adult and taking care of my own needs.
Because humans are the only beings that tell stories, storytelling has become an integral element in human genetic makeup. Stories have been told for as long as mankind learned how to speak and communicate. The practice of storytelling has been passed down through cultural milieus, ballads, parodies, poems, autobiographies, journals, parables, and tales. In fact, many of these narratives have influenced how we learned and shaped our values, morals, and beliefs. Clark & Rossiter (2008) offer that narrative learning through stories, “involves stories heard, stories told, and stories recognized” (p. 65). In light of that, this paper will begin with a brief conception of narrative learning, followed by a personal narrative story that influenced my life as an adult, what was learned from this and why, and finally the importance of narrative learning as it relates to adult learners.
After attending my summer orientation, I started to adjust to the idea of college life a little bit more. I met new people, got to know a new area, and overall became more acquainted with the life I would be living for the next couple of years. Overall, orientation made college a reality for me.
In my household, from the time I was in Kindergarten, my mother expected academic excellence and nothing less. With her help I was an A student, Science fair grand champion, Young authors winner, Community helpers member, Young academic role model and more. At the age of eleven I lost my mother to Invasive Breast Cancer. Being academically successful was her goal for me and up to that point in her life she instilled the values of education and hard work ethic into me. At that young age I had to decide how I was going to continue being academically successful in school and what were my educational goals for myself. Since that day every school year I ask myself that same question, and this year being my senior year it’s more prominent than ever. My short term educational goals are: to apply and be admitted to 4 universities, maintain a 3.7 gpa, pass AP calc and English exam’s with a score of 4 or higher, and graduate with honors.
Two of the most important study skills are setting goals and taking notes. A student may set a time goal, such as studying a few hours a week; set a general goal, such as trying to study hard and stay on schedule; set a specific performance goal, such as getting at least 80% of the homework problems correct. Another important study skill is taking notes. Students generally make two kinds of mistakes in taking notes. One is to try to write down everything the instructor says, which leads to confusing notes. The other is to copy concepts that they do not understand but hope to learn by memorization. Good notes are compromised of the following: 1) written information summarized in your own words; 2) outline the important concepts; 3) try to associate the lecture notes with the material text; 4) asking yourself questions and making up questions from the notes.
I think I have changed, but I really don't think I changed that much. I have become more proficient in my class particpation, because I wouldn't want to discuss my answers, because I thought they were to dumb of an answer. Also I was shy to speak out unless they are talking stuff about me. I also have inproved in my organization skills. I improved by it becayuse I steryted to use folders now instead of binders, because I can make each folder into my class, and when I use my binder it would also get messed up. I also liuke it because they're different color for different classes. I have become better at completing my assginments because I have notice that when I don't do them correctly or turn them in when it's do then my grade would go lower.
Summer vacation, and school ends for about three months, and then you have as much fun as you can, then back to school… right? Well I had to go to summer school, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Everything was going fine, I had a job after summer school, and that was going fine as well. They say that summer is supposed to be fun and exciting, and it usually is for me and my family. However in July my father started coughing up blood. My father usually doesn’t make it his top priority to go to the doctors, so he waited about four weeks until he really didn’t feel good.
I seem to learn better when I constantly read over the material I am studying. This allows the material to constantly be running in my mind. I am a person who will read or hear something and it usually sticks with me. I really haven 't had to study for long periods of time, because I usually remember the topic of what were being tested on pretty easily. I have also learned that I am more of a hands on person. I can learn things very quickly by putting them into action. Somehow that makes it click in my mind and helps me learn it. Mainly the study habits I can improve on is procrastination. This is usually hurts me the most. I will wait
Over a person’s lifetime, individuals develop particular skills enabling him or her to be either visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learners. The specific learning behavior most attractive to how an individual learns is a “manner in which a learner perceives, interacts with, and responds to the learning environment” (Celcia-Murcia, 2001, p. 469). Knowing which learning style greatly affects the individual’s learning process reinforces utilization of the characteristics that an individual displays as their strongest traits. In addition, a person that becomes aware of these traits can achieve more efficient knowledge and enhance their performance, while giving considerable control over their weakest modalities. Whether a person has a visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learning style, each will exemplify their own traits and methods for improving their learning process. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the visual learning style, including the strategies an individual can use to improve one’s clarity when reading, and establish qualified research to display more validity in writing. Furthermore, explain the relevance of other’s learning styles to increase persuasiveness during the writing process, and how visual learners can use their skill to apply critical thinking.
Learning styles come in many shapes and sizes. But what is a learning style? A learning style is the way a student approach learning specific to themselves. Some students learn best by visual or reading and writing, some learn best by listening to a professor or video, some by kinesthetic activity where they can see touch or feel, and so forth. There are various resources a teacher can provide to students to help them learn their way. Things such as handouts, worksheets, and group projects can assist student. Learning styles vary for different students, but mainly consist of the three listed above.
Now I would like to share some study method that I had learnt before and in the class that can improve my study. I will be independence in learning, do not rely to others. Besides that I will also set the goals for myself. When you know clearly about your goals,
