Being born and raised in “The Paris of the Plains” was certainly a blessing in disguise. I am genuinely thankful for the gracious gift of world class barbecue along with a world class sports team. Watching the one and only Kansas City Royals take home the crown while savoring a side of Smoked Chicken Gumbo was something I will cherish for the rest of my life. Wonderful moments like these come and go, but some tend to stay. As history was in the making, the campus of UMKC was there to witness it all. Located in the heart of Kansas City, it most definitely rivals the phenomenal barbecue and entertainment. The campus itself is a work of art to marvel at. However, the School of Medicine is another world in itself. Its prestige is not only recognized
locally, but on a national scale as well. UMKC is one of few institutions in the nation to graciously offer a six year BA/MD program, which is where my heart lies. Ever since my mother began working in a hospital environment, I naturally picked up a few terms here and there. This subsequently evolved into me developing a zest for knowledge and a desire for exposure into the field of medicine. The Summer Scholars program is a dream come true. To become engulfed in medical experience at such an early age is a priceless opportunity. As soon as I heard I would be receiving instruction from college professors and outstanding health professionals, I knew this program was perfect for me. Being involved in clinical rotations and lectures at the end of my highschool sophomore year is something many don't find until their third year of medical school. Although my future is still in the making, the Summer Scholars program will be the first step of many in becoming the excellent physician I aspire to be.
I am excited to be submitting my application to Georgetown University School of Medicine, as this school’s mission and values reflect my own beliefs on the role of a physician. I believe that there is no fixed template to healthcare; medicine and health will vary across time, regions, and individuals, and as future physicians, it is crucial for us to recognize that. While standard science education is certainly critical, a broadened approach that draws on other knowledge and our own life experiences is just as essential to delivering quality healthcare. I believe that Georgetown Medical School’s tradition of “Cura Personalis” and its

He advocated heavily for osteopathic medicine. I have always recognized that the body is a whole and the various systems must function in unison to be effective. On top of this, Dr. VanGrasse, an employee of KCU, told me how much she enjoyed her time there and how she believed it had a substantially better environment and education than other comparable medical schools. In my time at Kettering, I worked closely with an Emergency Medicine doctor, Connor Mckinney D.O. who had attended Rocky Vista Medical School. He, along with many others, have heavily advocated for the Osteopathic education. I have seen how his education has improved his personal relation and specific care for patients. I want this knowledge for myself to be the best doctor I can
Question Quote "I doubt that these experiences are unique to the hospitals or the medical school at which I have thus far trained. I expect that they pervade health care systems throughout the country. I give credit to my medical school for teaching me to be critical of the culture of medicine, apply interdisciplinary perspectives to clinical quandaries, and reflect on my experiences." (Brooks KC. 2015.)
Forty seconds left until game time. Here we go again, versing one of our biggest rivals, Belleville West. As usual, I’m starting. Defense has always been my go to position and this year I’m playing right back. The air around us is cold, considering we aren’t quite in spring yet. Eleven of us disperse on to the field, all in blue, determined to win. The referee blows his whistle, piercing our ears, and twenty two pairs of feet stir into action. Our back line is staring at the ball move towards the goal when suddenly things turn around. Hurriedly we shift to the left, ensuring the ball is put to a stop. Hannah boots the ball up the long green field and we’re all hopeful. West is playing hard; aggressive is their style. They win possession. Back
Have you ever been to Texas? I have been once. My trip to Texas was unbelievably awesome. I saw many of things on my way there. While we were there, I had loads of fun. Many things happened while we were there. Texas was the coolest place I have ever been.
It was breezy day. The clear, light sky was breathtaking. Almost too gorgeous to foreshadow the disastrous day. It was on a tennis tournament on Saturday morning. I had confidence in my own abilities on that tennis court. As if I was Serena Williams ,the greatest tennis player of this century, and would win the whole tournament. I thought about my strengths and not my weaknesses on the bus ride to the tournament. Like my unpredictable serve, backhand strokes and killer volleys (that end points in an instant).
I was fifteen when it all began; the laughing, taunting, teasing, the confusion. It wasn’t always like this. I used to be happy.
On Tuesday morning we left at 5:30 to head to Topeka. It was an early morning and a long bus ride. It was quite in the morning on the bus because everyone was mostly sleeping. Once we got to Great Bend we stopped and ate breakfast at McDonald's. After everyone ate we got back on the road for more miles to go. It took us about 351 miles to get there. In the two days we were there we visited the Kansas History Museum, the Brown vs. Board of Education building, and the Kansas State Capitol.
Alex is now 21 and lives in Iowa. He still continues to carry on his no bullying act. Alex started in freshman year of highschool even though it was after he got out of middle school where he got bullied, he still felt that the other millions around the world needed to be stood up for. He has been working on the project for 9 years and does not plan to give it up anytime soon. Alex was bullied by the kids he used to be friends with. “Most of the kids on the bus, I knew from elementary school, and we were good friends then, but then in middle school, everything changes, and it’s all about popularity and who dresses the bet and who has the best hair . I was not the kid with the best hair.” He would be bullied everyday weather it was at the bus
There are a lot of great memories I left there when I was younger. Great memories I spent with my family that I’ll cherish forever wherever I am.
My feet are sore from rushed reps, and the sun is beating down on my back as I spin the routine for “America the Beautiful” for the umpteenth time. Mr. Rice had no sympathy despite this being the last day of band camp. The longer that I spent marching circles around the school, the more nervous I was about running out of time. It wasn't necessarily anybody's fault that the clock was ticking down, and that I was afraid of losing everything. The metronome beat endlessly, speeding up as if it wanted rest as much as we did.
Most equestrians will agree that the most relaxing place to be is out in nature, with just you and your horse, with no worries in the world. The wooded cross country course and the rolling wheat field are a tranquil and quiet place to spend quality time learning about and enjoying your horse. The cross country course provides a motivating factor for eventers like no other. The wheat fields have a meditation-like feel with the quiet rustling of the plants in the soft wind.
I have been waiting months to go on a trip up to Mohonk Mountain House. I was told about this trip
