Kansas History Museum Analysis

On Tuesday morning we left at 5:30 to head to Topeka. It was an early morning and a long bus ride. It was quite in the morning on the bus because everyone was mostly sleeping. Once we got to Great Bend we stopped and ate breakfast at McDonald's. After everyone ate we got back on the road for more miles to go. It took us about 351 miles to get there. In the two days we were there we visited the Kansas History Museum, the Brown vs. Board of Education building, and the Kansas State Capitol. The Kansas History Museum was very interesting, it had many displays were you could see what some of the things looked like. Board of Education was very astonishing! I was very surprised to find out that in Topeka the schools for the blacks and whites were actually equal. The whole time we were learning about separate but equal I thought that the schools were very harsh for the blacks rather than the whites. I learned that Brown vs. Board of Education was to make it equal for the blacks not just in schools but in the society. The building that we were in used to be one of the schools that blacks had to go to. The Kansas State Capitol was a very big building filled with history of Kansas. It had facts about when Kansas became a state and how we got some of our laws and things about our flags. The walls had art work on them that was very interesting. They also had designs in the copper on the walls that was very unique. We could go up to the very top of the building and I chose to go up to the top. It was very high and I was very scared but once I got to the top it was very pretty. I would have regretted it if I did not go to the top. The Eisenhower Museum was one of my favorites. It had many things that I did not know about president Eisenhower. I learned that his nickname was Ike and when he was elected he won by many votes. He even had his own song about him! Eisenhower was a very important general in the war. I learned about lots of old guns and about some of the clothes they wore back
