Personal Narrative- Random Story About my Life
One of them was that I was on my journey with someone. I was on the journey with my boyfriend Dusty whom I have been with for four years. I am more like myself when I am with someone, especially Dusty, than when I am by myself. I do think that spending time with just yourself is a waste of time. You should just be out talking to people because who knows when that dreaded day of death will come. I think that you should just seize the moment and spend time with people. When I am by myself, I am quiet and withdrawn, but when I am with people, I talk up a storm and have a fun time just being me. I donÕt hold things back or try to act like someone IÕm not.
Another similarity was when I was talking about the rocks. This is what I said. ÒOh my gosh, we just ran into a huge cave filled with rocks. There are rocks everywhere. It is like a rock country. I can not believe it. There are small rocks, big rocks, pretty rocks, ugly rocks, thin rocks, and fat rocks. It is so amazing. There are rocks on top of the cave that are starting to bother me, they are very big, and they do not look too steady up there. I do not know about those. I tell Dusty and Duke to get away from there because I donÕt want them to get hurt if the rocks were to fall. Duke does not want to listen; he tries to climb up the side of the cave to get a better look at the rocks on top. As he goes up, one of the rocks he is on begins to fall. Duke falls with it and he is not moving. Dusty goes over and shakes him and thank god he is alright.Ó I think that this describes exactly how I deal with problems and how I see problems in my life. I always see them as these amazing ordeals and they often scare me. Then something will happen and I will think that it is going to be the end of the world, and then everything turns out to be just fine in the end.
The last thing was when we were all in the garden and this was describing my childhood.
have taken out the time to gain a better awareness of myself, or address certain issues. Therefore,
Personally Saturday nights are my favorite, and I followed the same routine every weekend. So why would this weekend be any different? My room felt cozy as I looked up time to time to see my twinkling Christmas lights I leave up all year. I loved how the sweet scent of vanilla filled up the plain air of my bedroom. Wearing my biggest sweatshirt that dangled at my fingertips, I sat on my bed leaning comfortably on my pillows. Every now and then, the sound of a notification would break the sound of silence. This is how I preferred my Saturday nights to be.
My understanding of privilege is best presented in a metaphor on the first page in Power and Privilege, “To walk or run with the same wind at your back is to float, to sail effortlessly, expending virtually no energy. You don’t feel the wind; it feels you”. (Kimmel .1) This metaphor resonates with me because I feel that it applies to me, the wind represents my unseen privilege and the rest of the metaphor represents my ignorance toward privilege. The part of the reading that stood out the most to me in this week’s assignments is Peggy McIntosh’s excerpt White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack and the object that gave the best example of privilege in relation to McIntosh’s excerpt is Gina Crosley internet article Explaining White Privilege
The debate on whether white privilege exists in the U.S. continues to split the majority of Americans into two conflicting realms of thought; one believing that the theory of white privilege only results in minorities exploiting this concept as an excuse for their lack of success, while the opposing side insists that the structure of American institutions is biased against minorities, mainly towards black Americans, thus resulting in an opportunity gap that impedes these individuals’ ability to realize their goals. These two opposing viewpoints are easily identified in Jon Stewart’s interview of Fox News host Bill O’Reilly, with Stewart arguing that white privilege is a reality for countless black Americans while O’Reilly refutes this argument vehemently.
Locke believed that the identity of a person has the sameness of the consciousness: “What makes a man be himself to himself is sameness of consciousness, so personal identity depends entirely on that—whether the consciousness is tied to one substance throughout or rather is continued in a series of different su...
On that fateful day in March, I was a couple months shy of my third birthday. My family and I lived in New Mexico at the time and were renting a house with an outdoor in-ground pool. The day was beautiful. I was outside with my oldest sister Rachel and my father. Rachel was diligently reading curled up on a bench that sat against the house, and my father was mowing the backyard. My mother and my other sister were in the house. Off to one side of the house there was a group of large bushes. I was playing over there with one of her large cooking pots, off in my own little world. At one point while amusing and en...
I will begin first with the idea that sexual behavior should not be granted its own moral code. Sexual ethics only makes sense if sexuality plays a unique role in human life. If procreation has significance precisely because it is a contribution to God's ongoing work of creation, sexuality is supremely important and must be governed by restrictive rules, which would therefore prohibit sexual acts that are not for procreative purposes. This justification of sexuality as a unique aspect of human life, however, is dependent on a theological claim that there exists a God who micro manages the sexual lives of individuals. Without the presence of such a God, there can exist no separate restrictive rules on the nature of sexual acts. Even if we grant that there is a God, most people will agree that sex is more often used as a way to intensify the bond between two people and therefor sex is the ultimate trust and intimacy that you can share with a person.
I can still remember that day. All the beauty of nature collected in one moment. I can still feel the sponginess of the winter-aged leaves under my feet. I felt as though I was walking on a cloud, the softness of the leaves cushioning my every step, they were guiding me along the wooded path to a small creek. The humming of the water moving with the crispness of the air, together they were singing a promise of a fresh and clean new season. It was a beautiful spring that year. Every so often a day like that comes back and I am reminded of posing for our picture together.
One memory that comes to mind belongs to a day of no particular importance. It was late in the fall in Merced, California on the playground of my old elementary school; an overcast day with the wind blowing strong. I stood on the blacktop, pulling my hoodie over my ears. The wind was causing miniature tornados; we called them “dirt devils”, to swarm around me. I stood there, watching the leaves kick up and then settle. My friends called me over to the wooden playground surrounded by a sea of mulch chips. The bridge squeaked furiously under our weight. An unannounced game of tag started and we found ourselves weaving in and out of the wooden fortress and the trees that surrounded it. My shoe became untied and I took a time out to tie it with a method that no one uses here. We heard an adult voice; it was time to go in. We lined up single file, supposedly in alphabetical order but no one ever does. I liked that, I never liked being in the back. While waiting for everyone to line up, I looked up at the trees that line the walkway.
There have been tons of things that I have learned and been taught in my life, by a number of people such as family, teachers, or even friends on occasion. The things they taught me vary from math and other related subjects to just some truly simple yet meaningful life lessons. However, there is nothing quite as unique, quite as special as a person teaching themselves a life lesson. It really is an amazing accomplishment for a person to teach themselves something. It is not quite as simple as another person teaching them something because it is not just the transferring of information from one person to another. The person instead has to start from scratch and process the information they have in their mind in order to come up with a new thought
A red brick house on top of a small hill is where my memories reside. A slightly curved gravel road led to the front of the house. Eight or nine rose brown apple trees randomly covered the plush green lawn. Down the small hill, muddy brown water trickled down a ditch with cattails surrounding it. One enormous willow tree sat in the background, to the right of the house, to complete the picture. It almost seemed like a picture from a postcard. But when you're a kid none of this really matters. All that really matters to you is to have as much fun as possible. My memories don't come just from this beautiful picture but from the little things making it.
The entire family got together and it was always a last minute thing but no matter what was going on we all decide we would go up to County Park Lake to have family time. There would be my grandma and my Aunts and Uncles and their kids when we pulled up to the parking lot. Under the shade trees the women would be sitting trying to stay cool and the older men of the family stand around a grill they would be sitting up the charcoal pyramid to lite to start grilling the food while the kids where at the tot lot playing the equipment you could hear the laughter of the kids playing . Also the mean talking about which is the best way to grill. The women would be laughing at the guys arguing over which way was bett...
A baby’s life helps to form and shape the future for that child; this goes the same for me. My birth, my sign, and my name, all relate to the way I live and act today. Many people may not see this connection for themselves, but it takes a little bit of research and thinking to come to realize why people are the way they are. Every day and every action that a child experiences can influence their actions as an adult.
I am sentimental, out-going, indecisive, understanding, curious, naive, lazy, and young. I want to be ... , well a lot of things, and growing is discovering what they are. I feel people cannot see the potential within, although there is no one to blame but myself. I look to others for approval instead of to myself. I aim to please; it leads to approval. I don’t like to discuss my faults; I pity myself.
I never really thought about where my life was going. I always believed life took me where I wanted to go, I never thought that I was the one who took myself were I wanted to go. Once I entered high school I changed the way I thought. This is why I chose to go to college. I believe that college will give me the keys to unlock the doors of life. This way I can choose for myself where I go instead of someone choosing for me.
