Trekking through The Burlington School We began our trip by flying into the Raleigh, North Carolina airport which were not our initial arrangements but we made it work. There were many flights cancelled, including ours, going to the Charlotte airport but Mark secured a spot for us on a plane going to Raleigh, which actually works better because it is closer to our destination.
Mark and I will be traveling into Burlington, North Carolina to search for The Normal American High School Student. While there are many High School Students, what makes one normal? Does it stand out or is there one that looks odd in the middle of a bunch of the other birds? Although the American High School Student are not endemic to a certain region, the Normal American

We got off the plane and into the airport and saw a group of what looked like to be American High School Students. There were some running around and yelling at each other, some reading in the corners, some sleeping, and others that I could figure out what they were doing. They were all over the place, moving around and disturbing the peace of others. The normal in America must be very different than the normal in London.
We finally get out of the airport and get in a car that the car service has given to us. We are on our way to Burlington where I am looking forward to going to visit The Burlington School.
When we finally reach Burlington, it is too late at night to go looking for them. We decided to go get rooms at the Hampton Inn for the night. We will be up early tomorrow to go to The Burlington School in search of normal American High School Student.
We get up just before eight and head towards The Burlington School and when we finally get there, we begin to get a lot of odd looks from people. The are probably surprised we are here. We get to the high school campus which is two small buildings, one building with most of the classrooms and a gym, the other containing a bunch of offices and a meeting
The high schools are made up of cliques and the artificial intensity of a world defined by insiders and outsiders. (Botstein pg.20) The insiders hold control. over the outsiders because of good looks, popularity, and sports power; the teacher. and staff do nothing to stop them, the elite.
Have you ever been to Texas? I have been once. My trip to Texas was unbelievably awesome. I saw many of things on my way there. While we were there, I had loads of fun. Many things happened while we were there. Texas was the coolest place I have ever been.
When most people talk about Burlington, they almost never have anything good to say. After high school, people constantly ask you, “What are your plans after graduating?” If you say that you’re planning on staying here to go to SCC, people often don’t have an encouraging attitude. Some would even say that Burlington is a place people end up being “stuck” in. Those words usually have negative connotations behind them. Who said Burlington is all bad? I am here to tell you a few reasons why I don’t think that Burlington is such a bad place to be “stuck” in, after all.
This story takes place in a New York City school in Manhattan, in the nineteen- sixties. The book covers the span of one school semester form September to February.
...icking because we didn?t want to miss our flight. Randy called the company where he had rented the van from and they came to pick us up. We made it to the airport just in time because when we walked in the airport they called our flight. This made us very relieved. The flight home went just as well as the flight there except this time I didn't have the butterflies.
Perhaps this narrative deserves slightly more background information. The year was 2010, I was in the eighth grade, and my scholastic life was changing drastically. I was transferring from an ordinary middle school that I found to be both educational and enjoyable, to an experimental school located in an old Victorian house. Having originally attended a school with over 500 students, the move to a two story house converted into a school was a situation with which I was highly unfamiliar.
The time is 7:21 am. Students at Nazareth Area High School scramble to make it into their designated classrooms prior to the bell blaring a sound of tardiness. However, amidst this seemingly unstoppable chaos, a girl walks down the hallway. She attracts undesired attention, and attempts to reject it; however, still, she is surrounded by students, following her like small insects would a flashlight. On her backpack, a small, simple pin resides.
In hopes to get to the hotel quickly, we left the airport scared to death and hopped onto a h...
I thought it would be a great idea to go to North Carolina. I have always wanted to go to North Carolina. It would be amazing because our family would come to visit us, we could go to the beach, and get food. I chose North Carolina because it is a place were not really used to and it’s very warm down there.
Thud the car door shuts once we have all of our luggage in the car and then we started our long journey south to Dolphin Island, Alabama. We were not the only car on the trip we were accompanied by our cousins and uncle and aunt, I would say we made about 10 whole stops on the way down from northern Michigan because of the two babies it only takes me and my dad three when I go to Florida to visit them but after the 10 stops and 21 hours of a foul smelling van because my sister got car sick we finally arrived at our beach house that was on twenty foot high stilts.Once we got to the island we unpacked and hung out on the beach for an hour and then went to bed because it was
Sitting in the passenger seat of my families’ minivan I nervously wait to pull into the school parking lot. As we turn the corner my legs begin to shake and my palms are getting clammy, this is my first day of high school. All I could do was think about the dramatic change in class size, I am coming from a school where there are only about three hundred kids in the entire school to a school where there are about three thousand kids in the entire school. This would not be as scary of experience except for the fact that the majority of the kids from my middle school went to the high school on the other side of town. My high school was the biggest school in Marion County and was known for its performing arts. I would not have been able to get through my first day of high school without the three levels of
Ostensibly fearless, yet burdened by inordinate cowardice, we strutted along the corridors of the eleventh grade classrooms. Upon navigating the final junction, heading towards the dining room where the entire student body amassed for their lunch hour meals, we had a sudden encounter with our headmaster. Our already faint hearts, had sunken even deeper into our chests. However, like humble militants, we continued our pursuit like any other group of our all female student population.
We went to the airport and found out that we had a jumbo jet to take
Trying to get my destination at the same time as all the other people at the airport. Then going through the check points. Next waiting on the plane to arrive so that we can board the plane. Then the four hour flight to Mexico. It turned out to be a great experience for me and I would love to go on another plane ride soon but this time I know what do and what to
It was finally the first day of school; I was excited yet nervous. I hoped I would be able to make new friends. The first time I saw the schools name I thought it was the strangest name I’ve ever heard or read, therefore I found it hard to pronounce it in the beginning. The schools’ floors had painted black paw prints, which stood out on the white tiled floor. Once you walk through the doors the office is to the right. The office seemed a bit cramped, since it had so many rooms in such a small area. In the office I meet with a really nice, sweet secretary who helped me register into the school, giving me a small tour of the school, also helping me find
