"KATHLEEN!! I NEED YOU TO GET MY BALLOON OFF THE CEILING!" That may sound a little odd, but trust me there is a good reason for my cousins and my sister Clare are shouting at me to get the balloons down. Today is Saturday January 21. My dad and my aunt are having their birthdays at my house today. Aunts, uncles, cousins, parents, a sister and one lonely cat roam the house enjoying the party and having a great time. Previously in the morning I had softball practice from 9-11 AM and then I went bowling with my dad and sister. I had already had a lot of fun that morning, but I was about to have a WHOLE lot more! The party started off kind of loud to be honest. My aunt and uncle had brought a ballon tank and some balloons that we could blow up. I pumped up the air, stretched out the orange rubbery, ballon I had selected and started to fill it. I just needed a little bit more air to be the perfect size, but then POP! It popped all over the floor and there were ballon pieces everywhere. I …show more content…
My sister and I helped tie strings to the the balloons and tie them up, while my cousins drew faces on their balloons with Sharpie and played with them. By now there were a couple balloons floating up in our high cathedral living room ceiling. Suddenly, I had a lightbulb moment! If my cousins wanted to play with helium balloons and have them float up, then why don't I take them in the foyer? I can reach, with a jump, to the top of the foyer ceiling and get it down for them. For those who don't want to play with helium balloons, they can put their balloons on strings and play with them in the living room. It was such a genius idea, I don't know why I hadn't come up with it earlier. There were a couple near misses where one of my cousin's balloons almost floated up to the ceiling but I snatched it just in time. Balloons eventually became boring, so, almost coincidentally, it was time for the birthday
According to “Balloons Bring Joy To Millions”, it states, “When balloons are properly handled, they are perfectly safe (Lewis 25).” I agree, balloons are plainly safe if handled correctly. Also, “Balloons bring people so much joy (Lewis 25).” I don’t know about you, but balloons lead to me being 3x happier. Lewis also comments, “ The real problem is plastic trash---things like bags and bottles (25).” Strangely enough, it is true.
Candles are lit, cookies are baked, the hot chocolate is hot, snow is falling, now it’s time to get our movie marathon on! The candles added such a warm feeling in the house. As we set up for the movies, I could hear my brothers fight over the last cup of hot chocolate. Even though there was still 3 packets of the coca left. As Sophie and I slipped on our slippers, we went into my warm, nice-smelling room and took polaroid pictures. We were having so much fun, we totally forgot about the movie! We went downstairs and realized we had paused the movie and had panicked over absolutely nothing. This year over Winter Break, I plan to sleep in, play in the snow (if it even snows), and bake with my friends!
But it only took a little while for people to finish indulging in the food. Now it was “cake time!” As my cousin Hannah would say. She was right it was time for my birthday cake with a plastic Elmo piece sticking out the top that smiled all the time. On the cake were multi colored dots, front and center were the words Riley’s first Birthday was in cursive icing with the candle shaped one and the yellow dancing spot floating on top of the number. Then all I heard was everybody together saying “Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Riley, happy birthday to you.” Not paying attention to what they were saying I was staring down the colorful, shape filled, mesmerizing cake, then my focus was broken. When my mama said “Are you ready to blow out your candle sweetie?” Whoosh was the noise my mama’s mouth made, and then the yellow dancing dot was
It was the summer ending my middle school years. The summer where I would enter into ninth grade, with all my friends. The same summer that my baby cousin, Gianna, would reach a milestone in her life and turn one. It was a beautiful summer day for a backyard party. The birthday party was Elmo themed, and the big red monster was everywhere. The tables were set up with red tablecloths and bright colored confetti. In addition, each table was adorned with a bowl containing real goldfish. The best part about the party was the bounce house set way back in the yard, because no matter how old you are your never to old for a bounce house. Unfortunately with all the little kids screaming with enthusiasm, I never was able to enter the bounce house. Therefore, the celebration quickly became rather boring. Moreover, there wasn’t anyone there my age. All of my relatives that were there were a cluster of old aunts and uncles that sat in their chairs under a tree to keep cool. The rest of the guests were people I didn’t even know, probably the parents of all the screaming children. Resulting me not having the best of times.
It all started when it was my seventh birthday party. There was a certain girl I liked. So I decided to show-off and do crazy stuff to impress her. First I tried drinking soda off the bottle but I spilled it on the rug. Everyone laughed so hard that their heads fell off! The girl I liked just sat there, not smiling. For my next attempt, I tried to wrestle my friends but I ended up breaking a lamp. Everyone laughed again. I thought about what I could do to impress the girl I liked.
Over the year, I have become more of like a big sister for Jena, her being an only child. This week I decided to take Jena to my apartment to make bake. I have now learned that when having a young child help make desserts usually turns into a big mess. Later we decided to rent a few movies to watch. Of course being in second grade we had to get the Chipmunks and the Smurfs. As usual about half way through the second movie Jena was out, and that was my key that she was ready to go home. When I first signed up to be a Big-Pal I did not have a clue that Jena would have such a big impact on my life. But everyday I get to spend with her, even though, it is only one day a week, I have learned a lot about myself, and I have also been given the chance to meet Jena. I have been given the chance to find the pursuit of happiness and so has
It was the summer going into 9th grade and my little cousin Gianna had just turned one. The birthday party was Elmo themed and the big red monster was everywhere. It was a beautiful summer day for a back yard party. The tables were set up with red tablecloths and bright colored confetti. Each table also had a blow with a real gold fish it. But the best part about the party was the bounce house set way back in the yard, because no matter how old you are your never to old for a bounce house. But unfortunately I couldn’t go on it with all the little kids, so other then the bounce house it was a pretty boring party. There were tons of screaming kids, half of which I didn’t no. A bunch of old aunts and uncles that sat in their chairs, and the other half of the people I didn’t even know who they where. Therefore I wasn’t having the best time.
Third, we left Friday on December 29th, 2017 to Nashville for all the family to meet up the next day to leave for the trip. My mother and my sister and I left one day early to stay with our grandmother and uncle until the rest of the family came so we could leave for our trip. On the road to Nashville, we listened to music such as R&B and Hip Hop. While we were sitting in the back of the car, we laughed at some jokes my mom was telling us and listened to some stories she told us. My sister and I were taking pictures in the back of our hair because, our mom just did
My search took about three weeks. I began my research by doing some background reading in the Encarta online encyclopedia. That site provided a definition of the term asthma, information on how the lungs function, the causes of asthma attacks, and the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Statistics on the number of Americans with the disease were included in the article. Most of the information, including the statistics was supported by the information in the Merck Manual of Medical Information.
In June 2001, a girl named Laura Buxton was celebrating her grandparents 50th golden anniversary in Staffordshire , England. She really enjoyed playing with the helium balloons from the party. Her grandfather convinced her to have a little more fun by adding a note to a balloon. On the note she wrote 'Please return to Laura Buxton' along with her address. She attached the note to a gold-colored balloon, and then let it flow away with the wind. 1...
I dearly remember staying the night at my dad’s house so that my mum could prepare the house for my birthday. Much like Christmas, I’d struggle to sleep the night before and wake up filled with excitement. I’d make my way home to find the house filled with decorations. Banners across the walls with “Happy Birthday!” written in coloured, bold, letters could be found in almost every room. And then, the highlight of the day; the presents.
I filled this time by binge watching Greys Anatomy, sleeping, and eating. However, on the forth morning, tragedy struck. I woke up expecting to repeat my now familiar routine, but my mom had a different agenda. I can see her walking into my room with that mischievous smirk on her face like it was yesterday. Her words are somehow even clearer. “Meghan, we are going to shopping in Indy today and you are driving.” This sentence haunts me to this day. Driving doesn’t scare me, however I have my learning permit and a very bad sense of direction. So naturally I was not very excited, nor did I plan on acting like it, no matter how much it may have pleased her. In fact, one could have even gone far enough to say I was tempestuous (challenging vocabulary). The overall experience was interesting and I can confidently say that was my least favorite part of Christmas
Thanksgiving in the Seidel house always starts with me begging my mom to make “Duck Cake” more commonly know as dirt cake. I have memories of being a small toddler and running into the kitchen and shouting “Mommy, Mommy can I help you crush the Oreos?”, “Of course, you can”, my mother would reply in a sweet tone and she would pick me up, and she set me on the counter. My mom did this so I could reach the Oreos. After we crushed the Oreos into small pieces, she would tell me to go and play with Morgan. So my mom could finish cooking us a delicious lunch. When I had been playing with Morgan for an hour or two, my mom would call us down to set the table for our lunch. My dad arrives at the table after spending the morning watching the parade with
Once, fifty people were attending a business conference. Suddenly, the moderator stopped, and conducted a fun activity. Each participant was given a balloon, and everyone had to write his or her name down with a marker pen. The moderator then collected all of the balloons and put them in another
It was the day of Fourth of July.It was a classic day for me,I didn’t do that much but I went over to my grandmas house. My grandma asked “do you want something to eat?” “yes I’m starving,I could eat a cow right now.”I said. I just started snatched big chunks of food and stacking them on my plate. After I was done eating,I went to go play with my uncle’s daughter, Kayla.Kayla has a brother named Jonathan and my cousin’s name is Mark.We played outside, in a big grassland with lots of sticks, leaves and more.We planned on making a fort.We pretended that we were in the army. Me and Kayla were on a team and Mark and Jonathan were on a team.Me and Kayla started to snatch sticks and leaves
