Last night was my 1st cross country meet this year! It was VERY fun and enjoyable, except for ride there. It took more than an HOUR to arrive at the meet. My team was very thrilled and happy to participate in this 1 mile meet. The rest of my meets will be 2 miles, since I'm in Middle School. I did pretty well, just like the rest of my team. We will hopefully do just as well, if not better in one of our upcoming meets. We have 5 more we compete in, as well as a daily practice after every school day. I LOVE running cross country, it is really fun and YOU should consider trying it
As far as the length of meets, track meets are longer than cross country meets, track meets have many more events than cross country meets. In my opinion, placing in track is easier than placing in cross country, because in track meets there are only 9 runners per heat, and usually there are 2 to 4 heats. On the other hand, cross country has from 200 to as much as 700 people racing at the same time! Imagine that, running with 700 people, cluttered and being shoved and pushed while running. Not the best feeling in the world. Sometimes you get “spiked”, other runners tend to kick you or step on you with their spikes. Usually runners use plastic spikes, but there are some runners that use metal spikes, and at times they use it in a way to help them cheat, by “spiking” ...
I am now officially in my Senior year of Cross Country , and am close to the end of my season. My first race of this year though was a big accomplishment for me, because I hadn`t been able to run. When I ran that race though it made me just so happy I was able to finish it, I was`nt happy with the time, but there is always time for improvement. I was glad to be racing again and being apart of the team again. I believe that my injuries were a barrier in my way, but they did not stop my sports career.

The perceived freedom in this activity was that participants could choose what want to do during the race to run, walk, listen to the music or enjoy the fall season views. The intrinsic motivation of this event was to help those who are in need and experience the 5k run with my friends. Moreover, I feel that this experience benefited me physically, mentally and socially. The 5K run is a good exercise which could help me lose some weights and build muscles and strength on my legs. Participating in this event, I feel happy because I can help people and can interact with friends and the local community. I felt happy and relax even though it took me 43 minutes to finish because this was the first year and my purpose was just enjoy and experience the event but I will definitely come back next year with some pre-training and compete myself with an improved and faster running
I was so excited to start my new journey in school. I knew that being involved in a sport was going to help me become more confident. Running has taught me how to achieve my goals, be tough; both physically and mentally, and appreciate life. The first week of cross country was difficult.
...rint car tracks all around the country and it is truly a rural phenomenon. I feel that now I better understand the sport and what all is involved, I can finally appreciate sprint car racing for what it is. Through all of this research my interest has grown to heights that were before unimaginable. I cannot wait until springtime so I can head down to the track and take in my first sprint car racing experience. I know it will be a great experience that will help me better connect with my friends and become more in tune with my community
I have never done cross country before, and I had never finished the 5K running the whole thing before. At the Arcadia Valley meet this year, I did just what I had wanted to do. I not only finished the race without stopping to walk, but I passed a grand total of 8 people, pushed the last 400 meters as hard as I could, and I lost four minutes from my original time! R To say the LEAST, I am extremely proud of
My sophomore year had begun and I wasn't sure whether or not I was going to do track this year. Last year I played football in the fall and soccer in the spring. Not really enjoying it, the decision was made to play " real futbol" (soccer) in the fall, leaving the spring sports season open. My friend kept telling me how fun track was, so I decided to give it a try.
Congratulations, County High Class of 2012, our thirteen-year marathon is over. Some of you may know I am a distance runner, part of an immensely successful cross-country and distance track program. We were fourth at the state cross-country championships, and we are the best senior boys team in the state. My involvement in athletics truly linked me with our school and granted me friends whom I will remember for a lifetime. One of the most important aspects of my time in high school was getting involved. Wherever your next journey takes you, don't sit back and watch the action. Take the initiative and you will experience the benefits. Just look around you. These are the people you grew up with, the people you were teammates with and the people you have survived dozens of classes with for the last four years. They are not merely faces in a yearbook. They are your people, your community, your family. They are the greatest benefit of being involved.
Cross country is the best sport for many reasons. First, It is a really good work out. Second, It doesn’t matter if you're a boy or girl. Third, you don’t need to be tall or big to be good at it. Also, you don’t have to rely on other teammates as much as other sports.
Good evening everyone, my name is David Brown and I would like reminisce with you
My first cross country didn’t looked the prettiest for me during the season. I remember stepping on that bus looking for a friend to sit next to or by myself. On the way to our meet in a pretty small town in Iowa. About one hour away from spencer. I keeped my ears busy with music that would take my attention from the meet to other thing that would not make me nervous. Looking out the window of the bus, thinking that I shouldn’t give up, that I should finish for my parents, for my brothers and sisters, for the people that believed in me and that I should do it for myself.
I also have been running cross-country for three years in a row now. This year I was elected captain by the team. I would love to be involved in activities outside of the Milton classroom, because being teammates with your classmates gives a certain sense of school
Through my giant adrenaline rush smile, I squealed out a yes. I started out in the Skeleton sliding school learning the track from the curve six to fifteen eventually working my way up the track till I was running and landing on my sled from the starting line. I continued to progress in the sliding school until I made my way on to the United States Junior National Team and Unites States National Team Where I began to learn what it means to be on a team without always being a part of the team. The other girls that were on my team were very competitive and did not like the fact that a new slider to the sport was doing as well if not better than they were. I remember one competition where when I got to the finish line the EMT’s that I was friends with told me that as I was on my run my teammates were chanting crash, crash,
It feels like it was just yesterday, I stepped foot on campus for the first time as a freshman. I knew nothing about the challenges that were going to encounter on my journey through nor the way to my first period class on the first day. It was nothing like middle school, and I wasn’t going to miss my opportunity to prove to everyone that I’m different than I was in sixth or seventh grade. My journey started in the fourth period, Chinese 1 with Mr. Zhang. My first challenge that I knew was going to be difficult, the anxiety was crushing me. English was my first and only language, and Chinese were on another plane of difficulty, but I wasn’t going to let it stop me and I wasn’t the only one as well. It was then I find out that I really was disconnected
