For years I have observed the business field and have always had an interest in USC. Being a native of Southern California and having lived in the area my whole life, I have always viewed USC as the most prestigious academic institution in all of California. As I have grown older, my desire to immerse myself in the campus and the business field have peaked. Attending USC Summer School will allow me obtain a first person experience and gain advice and expertise from professionals in the field. The day trips and guest speakers would allow for a first person experience into the life of a businessman along with the proper keys and steps necessary to achieve success. In addition, I would like to become more familiar with the campus as I plan on applying to become a first-year student in the fall. Personally, I’ve interned for a handful of companies and the knowledge I’ve gained from them has been far greater than anything I’ve read in a textbook. My current business marketing course has given me the opportunity to speak with various CEO’s and marketing directors whom have taught me useful information regarding their occupations. Aside from the knowledge, they have advised me on how to connect me with other …show more content…
My father is in the real estate field and I aim to follow to his steps and push boundaries and reach new heights as his successor. Ever since I was in elementary school, I have had inclinations of engaging in commerce. My introduction to commerce was through one of my passions: basketball. Nearly every Saturday morning I would line up outside the local sneaker store and purchase the most desirable releases and resell them. I was able to pick up the general act of buying and selling and I currently run an online shop where I continue this trade. While it has been able to fund my wants during high school, I am ambitious to build upon this and support myself in the
What I love about my course is I am able to apply what I have learnt to real business scenarios. I have enjoyed exploring how different businesses operate, such as Cadburys, Timpsons, Tescos, a Coco bean plantation and many local businesses. I have done this through evaluating their marketing strategies, management styles, recruitment processes and strategic decision making. This has enabled me to understand different organisations in terms of their aims and objectives and vision to

The reason I want to become a business owner of a tile setting company is because ever since I was little my father owned his own tile setting business. From a young age I told my father that I wanted to take over his business one day. I was always nervous to fail at this job because of my learning disability and I don't want to disappoint him. As I grow older, I have learned new ways to compensate for my disability and I have become the more confident of my own abilities. I have also learned that my father had the same learning disability and that did not stop him from being successful. I am very much like my father and that is why being a business owner would be the best career that would suit me. The things I already know about
I’m technically an entrepreneur since I own my own business. This is a convenient vehicle to support my work and lifestyle, but making money isn’t my primary aim, nor is building a business empire. I do enough income-generating work to maintain a positive cash flow, so I can devote most of my time and energy to discovering, testing, and sharing ideas that benefit people. I'd rather create and hold wealth in the form of elegant insights, positive relationships, and social goodwill, as opposed to personal assets or

College was such a big ordeal around this time last year! Many students had no choice but to think about it every day and I was surrounded by friends and classmates thinking about the same thing. Am I sure this is the school for me? Do I really want to move away or just stay near my mom? I even thought to myself, “What about moving out of state?” Everyone was so nervous, and everyone had the right to be. We are all trying to take the next step into moving on after high school. Until April 5th, 2016, my proudest moment was this day. I received acceptance into the Alabama A&M university. It was just a regular day that I had come home to mail from different universities, and my mom and I had applied here already with my mind on going to a predominantly
Many students are struggling in college. According to the New York Times Web site, only 33 percent of the college students are graduating in six years. Obviously students still need much help to succeed in order to get where they want to go. Although college can be challenging, I am going to succeed by using advice from experts, by developing strategies and ideas, and by taking advantage of the benefits offered by my college.
Business internships are helping students gain real world experience while they are not actually out in the real world yet. Internships are becoming more and more popular with college students in today’s world. An internship is basically when a student in college goes to a company or business and works while they are still enrolled in school and still getting academic credit. The main purpose of the internship is for the student to gain valuable on the job work experience. But there are also other things that a student can get from internships. Internships help the student decide whether or not this line of work is correct for them. Since the student works in an occupation in which they are highly interested in it really helps them get a bigger picture of the outside world.
By observing and learning from them, I managed to pick up tips and learned different types of skills, from learning to communicate and deal with other companies, to reading and deciphering many different types of plans.
We moved heavy furniture around, organized files, and answered simple questions for customers. Additionally, my dad started to notice my growing interest and talent in working with computers and used this skill for the business--I learned to use Microsoft Excel at the age of 12 and so that I could log inventory and draft work orders. By the time I was in high school, I was independently placing orders, talking to customers, and training new employees for the growing business. What I didn’t realize at the time was that growing up in my dad’s work environment gave me a business-oriented mindset, and this became most evident when I came up with the idea to create a web store to further promote my father’s
In 2012, eighty-four percent of Santa Clara University graduates who responded to a survey from the Santa Clara University School of Engineering obtained one or more internships during their undergraduate studies. Of those who responded, eighty-two percent were employed full-time after graduation earning a median salary of $62,500 (Santa Clara University). This research exhibits that internships can be an important strategy in the efforts toward job search for both students, as well as for employers looking to hire valuable employees. As defined by InternNE.com, an internship is any carefully monitored service or work experience that may be evaluated for educational credit in which an intern or student establishes learning goals and reflects on his or her learning experience in relation to achievement of the stated goals. Internships should first be examined that, when implemented at fullest potential, these opportunities can provide companies and students with a competitive edge in today’s business world. Subsequently, it can be shown that internships assist organizations and companies with temporary or seasonal project and task completion. Lastly, internships will be clarified as to how they allow students to gain valuable experience before entering the workforce. From reviewing an ample amount of research, internships are beneficial and advantageous to the success of a young student, as well as companies.
Often times, I can’t help but wonder what my life would be like if I haven’t been exposed to the world of business; a wonderful career that changed my life completely. I have taken interest in business career because I love calculating numbers and interacting with people; But most importantly, my fascination in business came from my grandfather. He taught me many valuable tips on how to be a successful person, and most certainly how to run a business. He was not only a successful businessman, but also a respected individual. One of the businesses that he owned was a company called “Wu Long Tea Factory”. The main thing that they produce is tea of course, but they also have products such as cakes, candies, and all kinds of stuff. By being the production manager’s assistant of this company, I was able to experience everything that was going on in the factory. Even though that was the background I grew up in, my biggest fascination wasn’t in being a manager in a factory; it was the finance part that got me all excited. Often times I can even see myself sitting in my office and work on clients’ financial profiles and statements. I also took extra math classes and participated in many of the competitions in order to prepare myself to succeed in this particular field. Other things that I also did to get me well prepared are joining school activities, applying internships, and having jobs. I believe that all my hard work will pay off, when I see myself as a successful businessman.
High school has been a great opportunity for me to learn new things and to push myself academically and I am very pleased with time I’ve had here. After high school ends, I plan to further my education and expand my horizons at a university that will help me succeed and accomplish my goals. I am very interested in learning new business skills that could help me in the arts and entertainment field one day. I have always been fascinated with the entertainment industry so If I could become part of the business aspect of it, I could definitely see myself being proud of what I have accomplished. I am currently involved theatre arts classes and in my school’s drama club as an active crew member and actor. I also participate in business classes and
My interest in business grew over the years. Gradually, I found out new things about how businesses ran and how different people work together and play different roles in a business. Over my high-school years I have taken several elective courses that I found interesting. I took a business course in Grade 10 where I learnt about the basic fundamentals of business. During that course, I learnt in detail about the basics and different sectors of business. Apart from school, I tried to explore how businesses worked in real life. When I had went to buy my guitar I was amazed at the store. Steve’s Music Store was a massive place where a large number of people worked, attending customers, keeping track of the equipment, maintaining storage, etc. I met and talked to the manager of the store to describe my awe at how he managed to run this huge business with so many people working together, each playing a different role. Watching TV programs like ‘Dragon’s Den’ or ‘Undercover Boss Canada’ inspired me even more. I was fascinated at how people came up with innovative ideas and how they manage all the people who are working in their business.
...new classes, I soon realized what would be the biggest challenge of college: deciding on a major. Yes, I am one of those people who started college without first declaring a major. I soon heard every question, suggestion, and response regarding possible options. I even began concocting false majors to throw some people off. Large-Scale Demolition was a crowd favorite.
