As we waited for the last few customers to leave he mentioned that he had been to prison when he was younger. He told me about the years of homelessness he went through after being released. I was shocked because I knew Terry mostly as just a hard worker. He said he was limited in his career options, so he tried to make the most out of his job at the Original Pancake House. I realized there was quite a difference between the people like Terry, who worked to support his family, and me, who worked for some extra spending money. Although our backgrounds and motives were radically different, the value of work remained the same. I started to see the importance of putting my full effort into my work, even if it is just a minimum wage job bussing tables. Our whole society depends on the development of businesses and management of these establishments. Growing up in a family of business developers and managers, I have been widely exposed to affairs concerning entrepreneurship and the skills needed in order to run an enterprise from a young age. So whilst everyone I knew dreamt of being a fashion designer or a doctor, I aspired to be a successful businesswoman who either worked at or owned a prosperous company. The idea of running a business has thrilled me for a very long time as I have seen so many people start with very little, and work their way up to the top. When I was younger, I wanted to be like them. And now, although I know more about the hardships that have to be faced, my aspirations have not changed. This is what I want to be.
Ultimately I want to run a renovation business from my home with my husband. I already have general knowledge of the construction industry and believe that if I can secure employment at a construction company within five years I can learn enough about the various components of administration that I can take care of the paperwork that my husband hates, while he takes care of the construction that he loves. I am controlled in stressful situations, am always planning ahead and quick with decisions. My experience working in so many different fields has given me great communication skills, especially in regards to understanding my audience; which from a negotiation and management standpoint is invaluable.
I firmly believe that my present role as a Sales and Marketing Assistant is a skilled type of employment because my skills and educational qualifications represent a background of increasingly important assignments within the company. These experiences have given me the opportunity to make many profitable contributions in a number of functional areas.

In the 6th grade I approached my parents and told them when I grow up I want to own a business. I vividly remember my Father laughing while my Mother smiled and told me that it took a lot of work, time and experience to own and run a business. I decided to do some research, getting on the family computer I found out that a popular way to develop a business was to learn computer programming and write software. Years later, I worked in the Information Technology field after high school and saved up money to continue my education at State University. Majoring in Business with the Information Technology Concentration, I will gain the skills to work in a business environment but will still need to educate myself in order to found my own startup business.
