My first day at the barn The day before the accident our lives were already so messed up my father had passed away a couple of months ago. He passed away from a plane crash. He was a pilot for the air force. My mom and I were very depressed from my fathers passing. My father was in coma for 7 months then he finally died. The doctors recorded the time, it was March 2nd 1998 at 6:34 pm at the olympic hospital in seattle WA we have been very sad I was not going to going to school anymore. The school district and my mom kept saying I have to go back to school. My mom was talking to me trying to lift me up and make me feel better even thought she was still crying. “It is going to be fine everything is going to be fine.” She muttered. My mom was …show more content…
My mom was in serious conditions so the ambulance workers took us into the ambulance and we went to the nearest hospital. My grandma and grandpa were in the room with me watching my mom. She was laying on the bed and the doctors were monitoring her they noticed that she was in a coma. My grandma announced “you are going to come live with us” “Why” I …show more content…
I could not fall back asleep again because I was to scared that I was going to have another nightmare. I just sat in bed with my eyes wide open for the rest of the night. The next morning my grandma came to wake me up and I pretended I was still sleeping She yelled, “it is time for chores” When I did not get up She added, “Come on get up sweet pee “Come on.” I mumbled. “Let me sleep in please.” I added she said “Ok you can sleep in till breakfast, but after breakfast you have to do chores.” I mumbled back, “Fine.” I got a hour or so more of sleep then she called me doun we had eggs and bacon I finished faster than my grandma and grandma. I asked, “Can I be excused.” My grandma answered “Yes go get dressed.” I went up stairs and picked out a outfit from my suitcase and put it on. I was walking down the stars and my grandma motion me to come to her. she told me, “The first chore that you have to do is feed the horses.” As we were walking to the barn i noticed it smelled like horse manure she showed me how rake much food each horse get, how much, and what kind to give to the horses. I fed all the horses and
Personally Saturday nights are my favorite, and I followed the same routine every weekend. So why would this weekend be any different? My room felt cozy as I looked up time to time to see my twinkling Christmas lights I leave up all year. I loved how the sweet scent of vanilla filled up the plain air of my bedroom. Wearing my biggest sweatshirt that dangled at my fingertips, I sat on my bed leaning comfortably on my pillows. Every now and then, the sound of a notification would break the sound of silence. This is how I preferred my Saturday nights to be.
Growing up all my friends had perfect jobs for teenagers. As a teenager, I spent a lot of time applying for jobs and searching for places to work because money didn’t come easy and I wanted to be in control of my own money. But I could never score a job. I applied to at least 100 jobs at least twice and I still couldn’t get an opportunity.
When I was little, me and my family were sitting in the living room and watching T.V. and the next thing we hear is the doorbell. When my mom opened the door our family friend Mary, told my mom that she had dropped her keys in the dumpster and needed me and my
A few months later my dad received a call saying that my Grandma was in the hospital. She had been forgetting to take her medicine and she had attacked my Grandpa. She did not hurt him though. I never thought that, it would ever happen. We went to visit her a couple weeks later. She was so embarrassed that she was in the hospital for that. Finally, after about a month, she came home happier than ever.
I’ve heard it all before from family and friends, “Martha, you should stop eating this or doing that”. I knew they only meant the best seeing how my blood pressure was through the roof and my ankles and knees were constantly sore. But it was still infuriating how others would make it seem like it was just so simple for me to change the lifestyle I’ve had for the past 35 years. The stress and weight piled up quickly after my messy divorce. I hit rock bottom and didn’t care much about my weight or eating habits that shaped my 5’5” 350 pound frame. However, everything changed after taking my 6 year old daughter to the fair on a Saturday morning about 2 years ago.
emergency room. I saw my pops screaming and yelling “She's my wife, she's my wife”. He got quieter and quieter and then started to whisper to himself. “Why her...why her…” I took my siblings to the waiting room to sit down and my sister Jewel started crying and my brother was hugging her and quietly said “It's going to be okay” and just repeated those words then Jewel looked up at me with her eyes shining like the sun. When she did I didn't know how to explain this to her. The reason why it was so goddamn hard to explain it was because she has autism. So I punched the living $#%& out of the wall. I kept on punching and punching until I could not feel my hands.
Some people think of them as animals. Some people think of them as objects. Some people think of them as friends. Then there are the few who think of them as family. Horses have always been like family to humans, except sometimes closer. There are many benefits to owning or being around horses. They come in many different colors. There is a multitude of breeds, also. Additionally, they have a long history with humans. Horses have unique behaviors. Showing horses has been the past-time or even career of many people. Furthermore, caring for horses can be a handful, but is definitely rewarding. Finally, riding horses is not just a hobby or a sport, but an action of your heart. Horses are wondrous creatures that have lived with man or thousands of years.
It was the last Saturday in December of 1997. My brother, sister, and I were chasing after each other throughout the house. As we were running, our parents told us to come and sit down in the living room. They had to tell us something. So, we all went down stairs wondering what was going on. Once we all got down stairs, the three of us got onto the couch. Then, my mom said, “ Well…”
It was a hot, Thursday afternoon. So hot you could burn your hand by touching a window. So hot, you could fry an egg on the sidewalk. Three weeks from now was the best day in 2th grade, field day. Today we were picking relay teams
It was a warm summer day on the Bozeman farm. Mr. Heizer worked hard every day to harvest his crops and make sure all his animals are fed. My best friend Birch lived in a coop not that far from the stables. That’s where that grumpy old horse lived, his name was Nester. He’s not very polite to all the other farm animals. Last week Rudy, a chicken who lived next to Birch, walked into Nesters stable and got kicked. No one goes in his stable anymore. The farmer lives in a nice, big, white house on the hill a little farther then where we all live. He’s kind and makes sure we are fed but every weekend he leaves and we don’t see him until the week starts. Some of the animals think he goes to town to sell his crops, which explains why he comes back
I raced up the stairs in the garage and entered through the side door. As soon as I opened the door, my nose filled with the smell of a cinnamon pumpkin candle from Bath and Body Works with a hint of fresh brewed coffee. Past the kitchen and to the left, my Grandpa Chuck was sitting in his tan leather recliner watching Gunsmoke or Bananza. My Grandma Kathey was sitting in the brown arm chair to the right of him. My Grandma asked me if I was hungry and would not take no for an answer.
My father's eyes opened, and he called out for my sister Kelly and I to come to him. In a very serious and sad voice, he told us that he was very sick, and he was going to the Fort Wayne hospital. My mother told Kelly and I to help her pack some things for him, because he was going to be leaving soon. We helped her pack, keeping quiet because we did not want to interrupt the silence that had taken over the room.
Later that splendid morning, my mom did some laundry while I joyfully watched television in one of two living rooms they had. All of a sudden my aunt bellowed from the
The light from the sun reflects off the pure white wall, illuminating the room. The dust floats, undisturbed by the empty house. This is what I see as I launch myself out the door, into the hot summer air, into the sounds of playing children.
Years ago I had the most terrifying, shocking day of my life. I had between seven or eight years when this happened. The day before the accident, all my family was at my grandfather’s house. We all were eating the food my mother and my aunts brought, telling jokes at the dinner table. Meanwhile, I was playing with my cousins in the backyard. Everyone was enjoying the family meeting. As the time passed by and everyone was about to go home, my mother suggested the idea that we all should go at my grandparent’s ranch next day, since everyone was in town we all could have the chance to go. Everyone liked the idea. It was the perfect time to go because it was a weekend. As they all agreed to go, they begun to decide who bring what to the gathering. Who would have thought that thanks to that suggestion, I would lead me to the hospital the day of the reunion.
