My love for politics and law flourished during this year's election process and I would only find myself continuing to pursue that love whether it was taking it to Youth and Government, Student Council, or Mock Trial, hence me deciding to major in Political Science and possibly minor in journalism. I believe USC will not only give me the necessary tools to go out and change the world, but I also feel I will become most one with my opinions and with myself. At USC, like Brophy, I plan on joining student government and Mock Trial, as well as engaging in the ethnic clubs available, especially the Black Student Union. The BSU has been so pivotal to my experience at Brophy, and being able to expand on that experience as a leader at USC would only
I would hope to allow myself to distinguish myself from other students and make myself more prevalent and outstanding in my specific classes. As I would like to purse a degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminology, I would like to become an ‘All around Psychologist’ dabbling in numerous sections of the ‘Psychology life.’ It is my belief that this HBCU would give me all mental and educational tools that will aid me in being the best in my chosen field. It is not that I do not like the educational system at my current university, it is just that i feel as though I can excel beyond measures at my new university coming this Spring.
The mission of The Black Student Union (BSU) at Post University is to go beyond the issues and make a change by fostering student development through academics, social services, diversity and to build a cultural as well as family oriented environment for students. Walking into college, I always wanted to join a brotherhood. But, it was hard to find the one for me at first. After striking out on a few other fraternities at SEMO, I didn’t know if Greek Life was for me. But after talking one night with Brian Smith, I would give my one last shot to Sigma Nu. Looking back, I couldn’t have been happier with my decision. Over the past few months I have grown into a better person and have achieved goals I wouldn’t have even thought about being able to achieve. Looking back throughout my candidate process I can say I have strived for Love, Truth, and Honor.
Prompt: In 500 words or more, describe your collegiate experience thus far. How has this experience and the knowledge you've gained influenced what you plan to study? How have they influenced your decision to apply to St. Edward's?
Upon graduating high school, I plan on attending the great college of Texas A&M University, and major in Political Science to further my knowledge about our political system. I also will minor in International Affairs to further my knowledge about world affairs. While at Texas A&M, I plan to involve myself in programs and clubs where I can grow my network of people. To be better prepared to enter the political arena. Some of these clubs include the Young Republican Club, Ambassador for A&M University, and the world-renowned Texas A&M Corps of Cadets.
College was such a big ordeal around this time last year! Many students had no choice but to think about it every day and I was surrounded by friends and classmates thinking about the same thing. Am I sure this is the school for me? Do I really want to move away or just stay near my mom? I even thought to myself, “What about moving out of state?” Everyone was so nervous, and everyone had the right to be. We are all trying to take the next step into moving on after high school. Until April 5th, 2016, my proudest moment was this day. I received acceptance into the Alabama A&M university. It was just a regular day that I had come home to mail from different universities, and my mom and I had applied here already with my mind on going to a predominantly
Many students are struggling in college. According to the New York Times Web site, only 33 percent of the college students are graduating in six years. Obviously students still need much help to succeed in order to get where they want to go. Although college can be challenging, I am going to succeed by using advice from experts, by developing strategies and ideas, and by taking advantage of the benefits offered by my college.
In High school, I was a very passive student, I often struggled with discipline a lot. I usually tend to be a constant procrastinator and ending up with poor marks because of it. For this reason, I know that my procrastination due to lack of discipline can it can potentially hinder my success at Vanguard College. Therefore, I came up with strategies and certain things that need to change in my life so that I can succeed at Vanguard College. These include cultivating discipline, ending procrastination through better time management and identifying my strengths and weaknesses.
The end of my junior year was a hectic few months. Amongst studying for AP tests, playing basketball, and applying for a summer job, I hardly had time to think about where I wanted to go to college. Everyday I received letters from colleges telling me why I should apply there, and it was hard to keep track of all of them. To be quite honest, I had never heard of Tulane before receiving a letter in the mail, but something about it sparked my interest and I knew that I needed to learn more.
Among my numerous ambitions, one in particular rises above the rest and eclipses the others: I want to make a positive impact on the world. This is the goal that ultimately led to my interest in political science, as I feel it would put me in the best position to make my community a better place .Upon researching the Political Science major at Northwestern, I found an exceptional program suited to the difference makers of the world.
My devotion to American politics is evident in my extracurricular activities. I constantly involve myself in school clubs with strong bases in leadership. I am eager to study government policies and their effects on our society. I plan to use the knowledge I gain from your institution to better our world and to bring about more equality. I am strongly passionate about understanding the ideas and viewpoints of others. I want to explore the minds of my peers. To me, Political Science is worth hours of dedication to research. Not only is it continually impacting our government, but it is also the forefront of our future. I am eager to use the education that I receive to empower young women to be involved in our nation's politics and to become
In looking at my plan, I know that many of the classes will be difficult and require serious time and commitment. I also realize that I will need help from time to time. Luckily, I have found the CSUSB professors are willing to help. All of my professors are committed to helping their students succeed. They are extremely knowledgeable, kind, and they encourage questions.
My major, Political Science, is esteemed at UC Santa Barbara for the amazing quantitative and qualitative research as well as normative theory. My degree will have a concentration of American Politics. This concentration examines a wide variation of aspects of political life including; political institutions, public policy, racial and ethnic politics, gender and politics, electoral behavior, political parties, environmental politics, political economy of the United States, Public opinion and political behavior, and media and political education. I feel that my work in this major has made me a more proficient writer, reader and critical thinker. The content of the Political Science classes is not only engaging but directly applicable to my everyday life and future.
I have developed a strong sense of social responsibility at Brown, in part due to the politically interested student body, and in part because I decided to concentrate in political science with a focus in political theory. I chose this subject because it was the one that made me think the hardest, and the one that energized me the most. My heart beats faster when I hear something new and compelling in class; the satisfaction I get from writing a successful analytical paper is, for me, proof that I chose wisely. I also chose a subject that tries to answer, or at least ask, what are in my opinion some very difficult questions, about justice, human nature and the way we live our lives. Brown has been an academic dream come true for me, providing intellectual challenges and exposing me to what I believe are some of the most important issues we face as a society. I have always been a school person, and Brown has been my ideal school.
I intend to major in political science. My passion for politics began in my freshman year of high school when I first experienced the social injustice and poverty that I had been sheltered from all my life. I grew up in affluence. My father was a doctor and our family enjoyed the comforts of upper middle class. Due to a stroke of fate, I was one of 10 students sent to a suburban high school by lottery system that was recently implemented to encourage equality.
