When I look at Northwestern, I see a community of creators and difference makers. When I look at Northwestern, I see discovery and exciting opportunities. When I look at Northwestern, cooperation among peers and a close knit group of students. But most of all, when I look at Northwestern, I see myself and my goals. Among my numerous ambitions, one in particular rises above the rest and eclipses the others: I want to make a positive impact on the world. This is the goal that ultimately led to my interest in political science, as I feel it would put me in the best position to make my community a better place .Upon researching the Political Science major at Northwestern, I found an exceptional program suited to the difference makers of the world.
The main component I look for in college is their commitment to further my studies. I feel this college will provide an ingenious culture within the science field, therefore rendering myself with the building blocks necessary to later pursue the medical field. Not only does UNCW devote itself towards their student’s undergraduate years, but also by providing Professional pathways such as Pre-Medicine, students such as myself can go into Professional schools better prepared. In addition to my interest in the academics the school has to offer, I also marvel at the amount of extracurricular activities available to the student body. One student organization in particular is the Greek Life. When my mother attended this school, she was an avid member
Politics is the heart of America. To enact change in a major area of the nation, the politics must be discussed to no end and one must know how to speak the words of the...
As I reflect on my extracurricular and academic activities, I see the essence of my future. I want to attend a great university (like the University of Texas); I want to work hard to become a nurse—a person who has devoted his or herself to caring for the well-being of others.
Politics--- When it comes to how a person shapes their political views, one of the key elements which have a role in doing so would be that of the person's local community. Quite often the community in which one interacts with will have different characteristics which would either benefit or be harmed by certain political legislation or ideas. For example, a local community which contains a state ran university which employs a large amount of the populous would influence the person to support more Democratic policies since such policies of raising taxes for higher education would favorably impact the area. Such benefits would include a boost to the local economy (due to more purchasing in the area) and to the local government (from the new tax revenue), both of which are of benefit even if one does not work for the university. Thus the ways that political policies affect a community makes the community one lives a key factor when developing their
As a kid I was shaped by patriots, I was captivated by history, and have now become driven to protect the Constitution of the United States of America and the great people who fall under it’s power. The most efficient and successful way I can achieve this is by becoming a constitutional lawyer, an occupation which requires not 4 but 7 years of college. So here I am. I’ve come this far yet it’s just the beginning. College will open the door to changing the way I look at the world and the way that I myself change the world. I stood looking at all my options and this was the best one, so that’s why I’m here in college

However, through this course I have also come to recognize that due to the negative perception that is placed on our generation, the political objectives of young people will likely never be given adequate consideration by public officials should we continue to practice engaged citizenship while disregarding electoral participation. My personal definition of citizenship is recognizing the privileges we have as citizens of the United States and contributing to one’s community in whatever way they are able to do so. A responsible citizen is not simply an observer of the political process, but rather an informed
“…What it is that we say political science aims at and what is the highest of all goods achievable by action. Verbally there is very general agreement; for both the general run of men and people of superior refinement say that it is happiness, and identify
The type of education portrayed by the university is influenced by the international community. It gives students the chance to be inspired by different opportunities, like internships and clubs, to enhance the specialization of their degree of study. This makes the student more goal-orientated towards an education that will make them valuable and versatile for whatever job market they walk in to. As stated by the mission statement, this college will strive to, “Pursue opportunities to enhance personal wellness through artistic, athletic, or recreational activities,” and to “develop an infrastructure that makes learning accessible to those on campus and in our community and supports the scholarly activities of the faculty.”
Many institutions made civic learning a high priority in the undergraduate education goals and start to begin systematic assessment of the influence of their educational opportunities. There are also significant of scholarship using student surveys on college campuses, evidence on how campuses have an influence at various stages of a students’ career.
I have a strong desire to study law after graduating from Adelphi, and one of the best academic decisions I made was to major in political science. Everyone in the political science department, from the chairperson down, has been an important asset to my education. Adelphi's political science department is not only blessed with highly qualified professors, but it also hosts special events that complement my coursework and stimulate my interests in this field. Some of these events included luncheons with foreign ambassadors, as well as a dinner with an advisor to four former United States presidents.
...governments political decisions for centuries. I think political science is the greatest degree for a student who wants to make a difference politically. You can go places with a political science degree. A political science and law degree is a great foundation to get into congress and make a change in our world. Who knows, maybe one day you'll end up in the Oval Office with your political science degree.
I have developed a strong sense of social responsibility at Brown, in part due to the politically interested student body, and in part because I decided to concentrate in political science with a focus in political theory. I chose this subject because it was the one that made me think the hardest, and the one that energized me the most. My heart beats faster when I hear something new and compelling in class; the satisfaction I get from writing a successful analytical paper is, for me, proof that I chose wisely. I also chose a subject that tries to answer, or at least ask, what are in my opinion some very difficult questions, about justice, human nature and the way we live our lives. Brown has been an academic dream come true for me, providing intellectual challenges and exposing me to what I believe are some of the most important issues we face as a society. I have always been a school person, and Brown has been my ideal school.
As a first-year MPA student who just graduated from undergrad less than three months ago, I feel immensely grateful that Human Behavior in Public Organizations was one of the first official that I’ve taken for my graduate degree. Coming in, I was nervous that my lack of professional experience would put me at a learning disadvantaged compared to many of my classmates who have been in their careers for years. However, I ended up being glad that I began my graduate education so early because this class has allowed me to learn so many lessons that I have not yet encountered in my career, but feel much more confident to take on. Through this course, a few of the key take-aways that were especially imbued upon my perspective are sensemaking
Politics is a blood sport and many of us detest it, yet politics and political systems have an immense influence on the modern human experience and our capability of achieving the good life. This is why political science is my major of choice. Individuals in society have many different philosophical beliefs, religious beliefs, languages, historical backgrounds, and ways of celebrating the human experience. The humanities study these human conditions, while political science seeks to turn that understanding into action that can directly alter the human condition and experience. Political scientists do this by researching which political systems allow society to function properly and promote the good life for its citizens. Political science can
