Upon graduating high school, I plan on attending the great college of Texas A&M University, and major in Political Science to further my knowledge about our political system. I also will minor in International Affairs to further my knowledge about world affairs. While at Texas A&M, I plan to involve myself in programs and clubs where I can grow my network of people. To be better prepared to enter the political arena. Some of these clubs include the Young Republican Club, Ambassador for A&M University, and the world-renowned Texas A&M Corps of Cadets. Commissioning in the Air Force has been a life-long aspiration. My grandfathers enlisted, but went on to retire as field-grade officers with careers spanning WW2, the Korean War and the Vietnam conflict. Their experiences inspired me to follow in their footsteps and serve my country. After starting college, I soon enlisted due to financial hardships but my desire to commission never waned. Over 10 years’ service, my goal of commissioning ultimately took a back seat to my missions, Airmen and responsibilities at hand. However, I have always sought out opportunities to advance my abilities through holding key positions and seeking out added responsibilities. By earning a commission, I will continue to grow professionally, improve our Airmen and further expand our service's capabilities.
The Southern Methodist University football scandal, also known as Ponygate, was one of the most severe consequences that the NCAA has ever given out to a college or university. In this instance, the Southern Methodist University football program was found to be illegally paying their players after already being in trouble with the NCAA several times. The first time this football program had been caught by the NCAA for not following its rules was in 1985. This was when an incident regarding offensive lineman Sean Stopperich came up. Prior to transferring schools after going through an injury which made him unable to play, he was paid $5,000 by one of the Southern Methodist Universities booster programs to attend the school and play football there. This caused “the NCAA to place SMU on three years of probation in 1985, limit its postseason appearances, ban the boosters involved and strip the football program of 45 scholarships.” This did not show the program or the school a lesson though. Again in 1986 the Southern Methodist University football program was found breaking NCAA rules. This was their seventh time they had broken and been caught breaking NCAA rules. This time it was found that, “an unnamed booster had been found to have paid 13 Mustang players $61,000 from a slush fund with the approval of key members of the SMU athletic staff.” The result of this complication with NCAA rules is what became known as the, “death penalty”. This death penalty declared that there were to be, “no football in '87. only seven games in '88. no television or bowl appearances until 1989 and restrictions on off-campus recruiting and the number of assistant coaches until 1989 SMU which signed no high school players to letters of intent this winter...
I should be selected to attend Georgia’s Governor’s Honors Program because I have a true passion for my subject area, social studies, specifically government. I enjoy watching the local and national news, learning about political, foreign, social, and economic issues, and staying up to date on the current activities of Congress and our politicians. I have developed a particular interest in the presidential candidates and upcoming election. This interest lead me to attend an event in Savannah in which I was able to listen to Senator Bernie Sanders, a Democratic candidate whose plans and policies have appealed to me, give a speech and further discuss his ideas for his campaign and potential presidency. This passion for social studies, specifically government, which I realized because of my AP Government
I will do college when I have at least put 2-3 years into the Infantry. Then I will also change my MOS to learn some Technical Skills, repairing vehicles, stuff like that, for a just in case scenario. Something I can fall back on in case my plans after The Marines doesn't fall through. I plan on joining the CIA or FBI.(if CIA doesn't fall through) Definatly Counter-Terrorist stuff.

USAA defines itself by its dedication to help manage military members’ finances throughout their military career and beyond. (usaa). USAA and its employees are simply already motivated by serving the military community because those in the military have sacrificed so much to serve their country. Serving those in the military gives employees a sense of purpose and doing meaningful work. Motivating employees isn’t that simple though, therefore USAA’s motivational techniques have been analyzed in order to determine what areas the company is succeeding in and what areas need improvement.
I aspired to play a significant leadership role in all of the activities someday, and over the course of my high school career, I thankfully have. This year as a senior, the student body elected me as the president of Student Council; members of National Honor Society (NHS) did the same; future business leaders elected me as the vice president of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA); and I received the votes to secure the office of secretary in the local Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter. I am an athlete, and also enjoy reading and watching political sitcoms. My parents are teachers who have raised me to work hard and have shared with me a lot of their political ideas and morals. Coming into this class I like to think I have a good idea of my Political Ideology and have a decent idea of the news that was happening around me. Through this class I hope to become more informed about the “Hot Button Issues” so that I can know exactly where I fall politically and become an informed voter. I hope these things will help shape me and maybe change my mind on some issues. Through all of this I am a liberal, socially and especially economically, considering both of my parents are teachers which is an underpaid profession ;this has influenced me to side with liberals on major issues or talking points such as abortion, same sex-marriage, and higher taxes on the rich.
However, through this course I have also come to recognize that due to the negative perception that is placed on our generation, the political objectives of young people will likely never be given adequate consideration by public officials should we continue to practice engaged citizenship while disregarding electoral participation. My personal definition of citizenship is recognizing the privileges we have as citizens of the United States and contributing to one’s community in whatever way they are able to do so. Ever since my seventh grade teacher taught me the rudiments of government, I have always loved politics. Every time an election is coming, I eagerly await new polling and predictions. Of course, no time is more exciting than when the actual results come in. In addition, reading political journalistic articles has added to my knowledge to this particular realm. My added knowledge has helped me immensely in many of my subjects in high school, including history, government, and economics. For example, many of my classmates struggled in our recent class about United States government. Because of my acumen about current political affair and the foundational basics of government, I was able to excel in that class while in turn helping many of my peers.
There were several other students who wanted to run for president, but none of had quite the propositions that I wanted to feed into the community. I actually wanted to create awareness of our environment and go into the elementary schools and encourage students to pursue careers in STEM. I am currently president of the society, and I am so grateful to have the ability to make difference in the society. The society will soon be hosting an Oxfam hunger dinner to inform the community of what it's like to eat in a developing country, and how lucky we are to be living in America and have the abundance of food that we have, unlike other countries. This hunger dinner will be my legacy to the society because no president before has conducted such an event that will educate our community and bring our school together.

I’m not quite sure what topic I want to write about for my senior thesis but will revolve around American politics, I have been considering a few specific areas including foreign policy, voter suppression, as well as constitutional interpretation. I’m not sure where I want to go yet but for voter suppression specifically in the 2016 election as many states had enacted tougher voting laws and I would be interested in working with Dr. Nadine Koch from the political science department as she is really the one that was giving me ideas, and this one I remember very clearly, along with a professor from the History Department Dr. Dawn Dennis as she teaches many courses on race and American history. I want to be able to provide guidance and support, as well as fun opportunities such as the Freshmen Flotilla and Bedtime Stories, in order to foster a sense of community amongst students and faculty. I have noticed that many of my friends that I lived with the Honors dorm who moved to live off campus have become disconnected with the community of the Honors College, and I would love to make an impact by keeping older students involved. I hope that I will be also be able to impact USC helping make the student population grow through helping to encourage prospective students to come here and answer any questions they have that might cause hesitation or delay.
