Have you ever had goals to set for yourself in the coming year of college? Well, I did. I succeeded in a positive way. Everyone should have goals for themselves to make it out of college in some way. Goals are future goals of how you want to plan your life afterwards when starting your year at a college. It is the key and knowledge to success. My goals are to make better grades, make my family members proud, and to earn my degree in college for this coming year.
My first goal is to make better grades. Last semester, at Hinds Community College, I made terrible grades. I was not focusing on my assignments, tests, and courses. I begin to drop classes from classes, and my GPA dropped badly. In math courses, my grade was a “D” because I hated math with a strong passion. I did not know how to solve any math problems, and I did not want to get any help from anyone. I felt like college was going to be just like high school, but I was completely wrong. I began to lose my financial aid at Hinds Community College because I was not making any good grades. My status was unsatisfactory, and it broke me down completely. That is when I realized that I could do better because my

I want to make each and every of my family members proud especially my parents. I want to show them that I can handle any courses without giving up. I use to always doubt myself when my courses was not going the way I wanted it go, but this coming year I am not playing around anymore. Both of my parents did not attend college because they felt like college was not for them. I want to be the first in my family to graduate from college since my parents could not achieve that. I would like to make aunt proud too. She was the one that encouraged me to do better in life in college and paid for all of my tuition at Hinds Community College. Even though my parents could not afford my tuition, I still appreciate of how they taught me to be the woman that I am
Prompt: In 500 words or more, describe your collegiate experience thus far. How has this experience and the knowledge you've gained influenced what you plan to study? How have they influenced your decision to apply to St. Edward's?
My transition to college was successful, but it was nonetheless one of the most stressful times in my life. Unlike many of my peers at Saint Louis University, my rural high school experience did not truly prepare me for the academic rigors of college. Despite extensive preparation, I performed rather poorly on the first round of exams. While I didn’t fail any particular exam, my performance was seriously lacking. I knew that getting C’s on exams would not serve me well in the pursuit of my dream of becoming a physician. I remember feeling, for the first time in my life, that I was unintelligent and incompetent. I was also heavily fatigued from the excessive hours of studying, which I felt were necessary to reconcile the problem. I managed to
The stereotypical version of the normal life of a teenager proceeding to college would include high academic standards met throughout their high school career and outstanding outside testing scores resulting in automatic entry into the institution of their choice. Many of these individuals have the support of their accomplished family members in the form of financial support. There are those who have not had the luxuries of any easy upbringing but forced to decide between a life with a college degree or full-time employment. For myself I want to have it all and to achieve that I have taken on both.
Goals give you something to measure yourself against and give you direction. Currently, my main goal is to graduate from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree of science in engineering with a concentration in biomedical engineering. My anticipated time to graduation is five years with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Beyond getting my bachelor’s degree at East Carolina University, I would like to go to medical school and become a doctor focusing on prosthetics. In order to make my goals a reality, I will have to work diligently to remain on track throughout my schooling. Additional goals that I have set for myself are to complete homework assignments by the time they are due, reading assigned material before it is discussed in class, doing well in each of my courses this semester, successfully participating in extracurricular activities, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, getting a position as an engineer, and becoming a leader within both the engineering community and the general community. A world-class engineering student woul...
Many students are struggling in college. According to the New York Times Web site, only 33 percent of the college students are graduating in six years. Obviously students still need much help to succeed in order to get where they want to go. Although college can be challenging, I am going to succeed by using advice from experts, by developing strategies and ideas, and by taking advantage of the benefits offered by my college.
At first, it wasn’t too hard, as the work load was rather miniscule for all of my classes. Around midterms the amount of schoolwork exceeded the amount of time I had available and has stayed there since. There are 168 hours in any given week, 50 of which I am working, and 17 hours are class time. That leaves me with 101 hours. Around 56 hours are used to sleep as I attempt to get around 8 hours of sleep a night. Down to 45 hours to drive places, eat, and socialize I realized I need to manage my time better. The biggest obstacle that challenged my success in college was spreading myself too
I can reach my goals and dreams through discipline. There are many goals that I intend to fulfill. At the end of my senior year I hope to have achieved a 3.75 grade point average. If I successfully obtain a 3.75, it will ultimately make it much easier for me to get into college and further my career. I also want to obtain this just because I do not set many difficult goals for myself, so when I do, I feel that I must complete the goal successfully. I have always had the goal of becoming a Wildcat at the University of Kentucky. Nearly my entire family (on my father's side) has at some point attended the university, therefore, feel that I must attend the university as well.
My my personal goals are to get a 27 on my ACT, have a above a 2.8 GPA, and get a basketball scholarship to ORU. I need to jump into college with alacrity.I plan on reaching these goals by working hard and really focusing in all of my classes every single day and making sure I make enough time in my week to study for all my tests I take. Even if I have antipathy for a class I still need to be inquisitive and ask questions.
College is the main goal of my life. It is a life dream to go to college to get a degree and get a successful job. Everything that I have done until this point is to get to college. During my senior year I plan to apply to many colleges and to take the SAT's to get into college. My GPA and SAT scores will be crucial for me to get into college. With college I will further my business career, making more successful in the field I enjoy doing.
For as long as I can remember, it has always been my goal to be able to receive a college education. Only a few of my family members have ever graduated high school, much less be able to have the chance to go to college before me. So I decided that I was going to be the one to make a change in my family and be the first to go to college. So I worked as hard as I possibly could in school in order to be able to have the opportunity to be able to attend college, and I proudly succeeded in achieving my goal. Not only was I accepted into Colorado State University, but I was also accepted into their Chemical and Biological engineering program. But as I recently realized, being an engineer is not what I was meant to do.
I want to make my family proud of me by facing challenges and feeling pressured to finish school by having good grades, and creating a better life than my parents had. Being the first one to attend college can be stressful because my parents expect a lot form me and do not want me to stop. They expect that I study hard and get good grades. They keep encouraging me to have a better life and become someone. Another dream of mine is to be able to care for my parents later in life.
Setting goals is the most important thing you can do in your life. Without goal's you are going to have no direction, no ambition to be successful, no drive to stay in school, and trouble finding a career that will provide for you. Without these three things, achieving your goals is going to be one of the toughest tasks in the years to come.
I have always wanted to make good grades but I never really set any goals but, then I realized that setting academic goals are way more important than people realize . I then started to set goals like my sophomore year of high school after I did that it really helped me focus on my future and what I wanted for myself. My goals I think pushed me so much more academically they opened my eyes a little bit more. One Goal I set was to graduate High school with a Core 40 diploma, which I did, so that is one goal down and a bunch more to go. My senior year I started applying to college but my main goal was to make into Saint Mary-of-the Woods and when I received my acceptance letter I was ecstatic. So far, I am still trying to figure out my academic goals for college but, I do know for sure that I want to succeed in every single way that I can so I can make a better future for myself. A goal that I made this year is to make the dean’s list every single time, for this I will study so hard for every test, do all of my homework, and ask questions when I have them and maybe even getting a tutor. This challenge will probably be really tough but I believe that I can do it if I put my mind to it, and I tend to be a very determined
...new classes, I soon realized what would be the biggest challenge of college: deciding on a major. Yes, I am one of those people who started college without first declaring a major. I soon heard every question, suggestion, and response regarding possible options. I even began concocting false majors to throw some people off. Large-Scale Demolition was a crowd favorite.
My goals are to have a happy life with the person I love, being happy with who I am as as person, and have a good career. I want to have a family. For college, I want to go into psychology. I would like to be a therapist or a counselor. Going to college for me is a must, but having a career isn’t my “dream job”.
