Destination Disney As a freshman in high school, He was always lost, and needing help. His days consisted of not wanting to get up and go to school, deal with the high school band first thing in the morning, not enjoying class or lunch, and going home to do it all over again the next day. The school year progressed and things got better. Finally the spring semester came and so did the band trip to Disney world. Thought-out the trip he found new friends, exciting things to do while there, and how to plan for next band trip. The Wednesday of the spring trip finally arrived and the band couldn’t hold in their excitement. Parents checked out most of their kids early so that they could go home and pack. At Six PM the busses arrived and the loading crew began to stuff the undercarriage of the motor coaches with suitcases and duffle bags along with the many horns and …show more content…
percussion instruments needed for the concert that was prepared in Orlando. After the quick meeting and prayer, most students hugged their parents’ goodbye for the week and boarded the busses. They we soon off to enjoy or hate a twelve hour bus ride to the place where dreams began. As a freshman he did not have many older friends, but due to his seat on the bus, he was surrounded by upperclassman. They soon made conversation and chose to hang out while on the trip. The group arrived at the first stop on the journey, which was a Cracker Barrel right outside of Orlando. The Band unloaded, and enjoyed breakfast and soon after everyone changed into his or her concert attire. After the concert at a local High School Everyone was ready to enjoy the main even… Disney World!
The busses soon rolled though the beautiful gates of the entryway to magic Kingdom and next thing he knows he is being handed his ticket. Everybody gets off the bus and people can immediately tell who has and who has not been here before. After being set loose from the busses and being told many times to “be back here after the fireworks show”, he finds his new group of friends while his sister goes off with her friends and starts to make his way throughout the parks. With so many different options and so much time to spend he nor anybody else knows where to start. A girl grasps a park map and reads it while others look around to try to find someplace to start. They soon just walk around and began to ride everything and go from park to park just making the day of it. After being in the park for twelve hours and that horrible twelve hour drive down there, They are all tired and can not wait until the busses get to the hotel. They all unpack and shower and sleep to repeat this process for two more
days. Being a freshman, he knew that he hopefully had three more of these awesome trips left so he began to plan for the rest. He read about the city’s where these places are located and also found many YouTube Videos about certain rides and attractions. He chose his seat better and was surrounded by friends where by is senor year he was the most liked and know person in the band. He also rose to loading captain his junior year. So for the other three trips he was very much prepared. Not every trip was the same so they all had to plan accordingly. Either way, he always spent all of his money buying stupid stuff. There was plenty of good planning evolved for the following three years. He went into high school not really enjoying it. That all changed when his band trip came around the corner. There where new friends to be made, fun stuff to do while departing for his trip, really amazing things to do while in Orlando, and a great amount of sleep and TV to watch on the way back… Just like his last day of high school.
It was the summer of 2012 and my family was taking another trip to Six Flags Great America. Earlier that summer we went just for me to be disappointed. At the time I wasn’t 54 inches yet and couldn’t ride any of the rides that I wanted to because they were the most popular at the amusement park. But, I hit a growth spurt between trips and we planned to ride all of the big rollercoasters. The one that I was most terrified of at the time was Raging Bull, one of the tallest, fastest, and longest steel coasters in the US. As we started to wait in line for the ride I was shaking with both anticipation and fear and began to rethink my idea to ride the rollercoaster. I decided to stay in line and see what many people thought was a great coaster.
So we figured everything out and and figured that Alex Kramper, Tori Main, Trevor Waller, Kristen Kesler, and me were going to the concert, the next day we met at Alex’s house to all ride in the concert together in Trevor’s truck, it was a planned booze cruise through St.Louis. So I woke up early in the morning for the Saturday concert and did my chores early in the morning so I wouldn’t have to do them the next day all hungover. I finally finish all my chores and then take a shower and head out to Alex’s house dressed in rock concert material, with a Captain Morgan handle and a case of Stag.
The caravan of about eight cars pulled away blaring the music of Van Halen and Metallica. I have never seen such a pumped up group of young men until then. My stomach was kind of queasy because of the great deal of nervousness that had come upon me. The team and I were cruising on highway forty heading away from the beautiful sunset that was occurring behind us.
...why he never found them. He will not allow himself to because by this point he had given up on school and eventually he gave up on the whole world. Tragically though, he gives it all up before he truly has a chance to get it started.
What changed my life the most was probably band. I've been in band for about 3 or 4 years now,and I really enjoy it. Band has helped me out in a lot of ways and will continue helping me until I no longer need help. In band, originally I wanted to be a percussionists like my older brother but they told me I was quite good on trumpet, so naturally I chose trumpet. I still play trumpet along with horn,baritone,etc..
The anticipation of this day had been building up for some time over that last few months, and now it was upon me at last. I didn’t feel the same excitement I had leading up to this moment, I even kind of grumbled to myself about how I wished the bus was bigger so that I would be more comfortable. We all had our assigned seats, but no one seemed to be where they were supposed to be. The anxiousness of getting to Colorado was causing a great deal of confusion, chaos, and stress. The noise of everyone carrying on and yelling could be compared to the way a screaming crowed sounds at an AC/DC concert.
My love for music has kept me afloat through many tribulations throughout my life. When I was younger I was fascinated with the concept of music theory. This love led me to play recorder, piano, and now guitar. I love the freedom that music allows one when composing an original piece. There are so many genres and aspects of music to choose that one can never be bored. With my music, I feel I am able to paint a vivid story of my life. As the notes carry my thoughts and passions, I am able to share my hopes and dreams with anyone who would stop and listen. I hope to improve my skills in the future and work on sharing my love for music with others. There's no better feeling than composing and preforming ones own
My palms were sweaty, I was a nervous wreck; should I go or not? Just the thought of people dying at Six Flags gives me the chills. Falling off a ride and slowly coming to your death. Even though I was at Six Flags who would have thought that I would have to make such a tough decision about a ride.
As the dark stadium filled with fire, with the sounds of guns and bombs exploding everywhere, the crazed fans yelled at the top of their lungs. The enormous stage was rumbling with the sound of a single guitar as the band slowly started their next encore performance. Soon after I realized that I was actually at the Sanitarium concert listening to Metallica play "One", I thought to my self, "Is this real, am I actually here right now?" I had a weird feeling the entire time because I had worked all summer to simply listen to music with a bunch of strangers.
Ever since I started band in fifth grade, I’ve always had the capability to achieve what was given to me: a hard song, solo, or other musical challenge that most kids wouldn’t want to do. I was always the one in my section to volunteer to play the solo of a song, try out for honor bands, and play the first part. My band director looked to me when there was an issue that wasn’t being resolved in my section because he trusted that I would fix it in the correct way so that it wouldn’t happen again. Today, that still happens, and I’ve continued to grow in my musical abilities.
Band for me was and is everything, at least I thought. My senior year in band I learned that band was just more than music. It is a place where you could find your second family, and I did that exactly. However I did not find that out the easy way, our band started to lose confidence as well as responsibility. All of the directors, and section leaders started to take notice of this. We could not exactly put our finger on why it was happening.
About a month into my senior year we had to compete in a voice contest called solo and ensemble. I hadn’t even looked at the sheet music or listened to the track I had to sing until around December. Once I finally decided to look at it, I felt overwhelmed. I didn’t know how to practice music like that on my own. The title was “I wonder as I wander” and I definitely felt like that described how I was dealing with this situation. I decided to seek help from my choir director and ended up rehearsing twice a week during my lunches. Each rehearsal was a milestone for me, I hit the high note I couldn’t and got down the rhythms and breathing. The contest got closer and the closer it got, the more I wanted to back out.
The Main Street station, is the curtains to a large production as if the Magic Kingdom was a theater. As I wander beneath the archway, I notice that above the arch is a plaque that reads: “Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy”. As I continue to stroll through the passage on the way to Main Street, there are posters of “upcoming attractions” that line the walls on both sides. I then step into Main Street U.S.A. and begin to hear the Victorian style orchestra playing over the speakers. I notice some Disney pals in Town Square greeting guests as if they were old friends. Then I begin to travel further down the street, and the smell of the caramel apples, chocolate chip cookies, and other sweets walk out of the open doors of the bakery and into the street. At the end of this turn of the century town, sits the one hundred eightyninefoottall, Cinderella Castle. This moment is a pivotal moment in any Disney vacation, because the castle is well known to millions. I get
This band is the best thing that has ever happened to me. From day one the people have
The second I stepped foot onto the amusement park’s property, I could feel the magic swirling all around me. As I walked through the crowds of people young and old wearing Disney apparel and Mickey Mouse ears, everything seemed so enchanting: the cheerful music, the twinkly lights on all of the buildings, and the stores that could have been from my favorite Disney movies. Walking along the streets, I took pictures of everything around me because I did not want to forget a single detail; I took pictures of the vibrant yellow, red, and pink flowers that lined the streets, the buildings with intricate details and designs, and the massive roller coasters that glided so swiftly on their tracks. The air was filled with heavenly scents of sweet churros, and I had to get one; it was delectable. Everything at Disneyland seemed perfect and like it was out of a movie. Even as I was about to leave, I got drawn back in; spectacular, bright, colorful fireworks started bursting right over my head, and I could not bring myself to go. My first visit to Disneyland was truly enchanting and magical. At the time I thought no other vacation could
