Missing Elementary School The other day I was reminiscing about the simpler elementary school days, before I started college. It made me think of all the things that I miss about my elementary school days. There are many things I miss including, recess, school events, and field trips. First, I miss playing with friends at recess. It was always exciting to know that there was a break from class. Running around, chasing friends, and playing hopscotch were all things I loved to do at recess. It was also a time where I could forget about the long school day and just focus on having fun. Also, I miss pretending to go on crazy adventures underneath the bridges on the playground. Recess was a great time to use my imagination. Recess was always the best part of the school day. In addition, I miss all the fun events the school provided. Knowing there were things to look forward to throughout the year made the school experience better. There were so many events that went on throughout the school year. The school held events such as, field day, the fall festival, Mayflower day, and the Halloween day event. Being at school, while still having fun, was thrilling. There was always something to look forward to that offered fun ways to spend time with people from school. Additionally, there …show more content…
were many fun activities and games to play at the events. Something exciting was always happening, and there were great people to share the moments with. I had a lot of fun; there was never a dull moment. There are a lot of great memories I have from school events. Most of all I miss the field trips.
Field trips were like a free day off school. There were so many fun-filled field trips I went on in elementary school. I remember going to the zoo, museums, the aquarium, and Charleston. I learned many things from each of those trips. Another good thing about field trips is that you could socialize with people in different classes and meet new people. There was also an opportunity for students to go places they've possibly never been before. Learning in a fun way, is another thing I miss about field trips. Field trips offered a change in routine which made it more enjoyable to go to school. Field trips made the leaning experience more fun and
memorable. It is nice to think back to the carefree days of being in elementary school. I will always remember all the good times I had and all the friends I made. Playing at recess, attending school events, and going on exciting field trips are all the things that make me miss elementary school.
Looking at our society and my busy life filled with tests, deadlines, work schedules, and demands for my time coming at me from every direction, I almost with I could go back to that place where time and concerns for the outside world were of little or no consequence. How I love to remember, to relive the memories of my adolescence. My world was perfect then.
I remember those Friday nights in high school going to the football games. Listening to the fans roaring in the crowd and the cheerleaders chanting cheers on the sidelines for their team. While eating nachos from the concession stands, I enjoy the halftime show done by the dance team and marching band. The best part of it all is winning the game, celebrating with friends, and before the night ends listening to the sound of your school 's fight song in the background. I do not know about you, but these were my favorite events to attend during high school. I mostly enjoyed the sound of the music that was played by the marching band which I was a part of.
The article “Recess helps kids learn better in school” from The American Heart Association states, “After recess… students are more attentive and better able to perform cognitively.” This helps so kids can gain more information later in the day without having to feel like they are ramming a bunch of information into their heads at once. Recess allows a little break to let the information settle and for kids to relax a little. To add to this, recess makes kids “...more alert and able to maintain focus on the topic at hand.”, according to Kits: “5 Reasons Why Recess Helps Learning”. This increases kids’ attention span so they can learn more information later in the day. With this, kids are able to digest that information correctly instead of not comprehending the information at all. Thus, recess makes room for more information to be
While in Kindergarten, I cherished what all my classmates hated, nap time. Nap time was my favorite time. By the time I completed
I got a Twix from that. So anyway there was ALP, Oceanography and March Madness. But the best part of the year was Science Camp. That’s right the all too well known science camp. The infamous Chapel Rock with the challenging, thrilling, and forty foot high rock wall and zipline, which I was the one with the honor of going on first, the steep, switch back full, falcon filled mountain which we hiked. We
When the last day of 1st grade came in May I was so excited with anticipation for 2nd grade because I knew that I wasn't going to be the only one there. All of my 1st-grade friends would come along with me to 2nd grade. I was just so excited for 2nd grade to come in the Fall.
Next, when I was twelve years old it was our first year of middle school. When we first arrived at middle school the word Recess meant little to me going in, expecting we wouldn’t get recess. But the lack of our 5th grade teachers knowledge, we did get recess. This recess was longer than our elementary school recess which was the best part of it. Throughout the year our recess got even better, after the many snow days, they ended up making our recess longer to make up lost time from the snow. When I was twelve years old, recess still meant the world to me!
Some of the memories in scouts is Scout Camp. Every summer I go down to H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation with my troop for 10 days. When I was a kid this was a tough thing to do, considering I was leaving home and my family for an extended period of time. These trips have helped me grow as a person. I no longer get homesick when I go down, which will have prepared me to leave for college.
Remember the time you were really thirsty in third grade, and went into the room after recess, only to remember that there was a party today, and there would be cupcakes and Kool-aid served in a matter of minutes? Remember saving a seat for your friend to sit on the bus, knowing that you were gonna share all the cool stuff you did yesterday? And how glad you were to be able to share this?
Elementary, middle and high school were different transitions for us as children and even as young adult. Growing up there was always be those few television shows that we love, even now in college. Those television shows not really showing on television anymore mainly because many of those main characters and voices we grown to loved have grown older just like us. We can always have something to look back on and say “that was out when we were a kid.”
There are times when I remember my GOOD OLD DAYS at Vine Hill Elementary School.
Field trips are events that most school children look forward to. They mean a day or a few hours away from school to explore an interesting place, what's better than that? Learning based on experience is an important part of a child's education but field trips without structure don't accomplish its benefits. We need programs that incorporate outdoor trips, personal discoveries, and team-based projects in an effective way, this is experiential education. Experiential education programs offer new standards for field trips and a different way of learning. Implementing the programs within traditional classrooms will provide more opportunities for learning.
All I can remember doing was the endless hours of watching PBS Kids from 8 to 5 when we were picked up. It was those special days when my grandparents had their friend’s grandchildren come over to play with us or when my grandparents would struggle to teach us their first language that I remember truly enjoying myself. I enjoyed learning new things, whether it was from my new friends or my grandparents. I enjoyed spending time with others and exchanging thoughts and ideas. Of course, I did not realize this at the time, for I was 5, but I did know that it made me happy which is all that counted to
School, one of the “dreadful” places children can be. Now School is mandatory until college level and there really isn't a way around the, so called prison we learn in every single day for 180 days year round. But, the Field trip is the one thing a child such as myself can hope for inside of a school year. Field trips are expensive, but they give students a chance to learn on their own and attain knowledge from other areas besides school, these kids are like sponges and will retain anything from sessions on germs, physics, chemistry, and all the junk food and water their little bodies can take. Field Trips are important to school, because it can be considered an “off” day for those teachers who don't end up going, and a fun day for all the
I was able to spend a lot of time with my family, our friends, and play all sorts of games. This experience made me start to like traveling. Every time I would get the chance to travel, I will take that chance. We were able to go to a theme park, eat many delicious foods, and play many video
