Sixth grade. Probably one of the best years of my life. There was Mrs. Hall in ALP. We didn’t do much in her class. The best part of that was probably Flip ‘n Go. Now it’s not what it sounds like. She didn’t swear at us or anything of that sort it was just flip … and … go. Yeah Mrs. Hall had to leave that year. Anyway back to sixth grade. There was ALP, Oceanography. Oh! Oceanography! I almost forgot. That was when everyone who was willing to go went on a trip to San Diego. Of course everyone wanted to but, my dad,( who was the creator of the Club) said “Oh by the way it costs three hundred and fifty dollars.” (Pause) Yeah that eliminated half the crew. Oh! Am I off track again! So there was ALP, Oceanography, March Madness brackets, which I won. Yeah it was great. In fact I had so many points my teacher had to check my math. “ Uh let’s see. Tsk Tsk Tsk. Dang you had bomb of a bracket.” I got a Twix from that. So anyway there was ALP, Oceanography and March Madness. But the best part of the year was Science Camp. That’s right the all too well known science camp. The infamous Chapel Rock with the challenging, thrilling, and forty foot high rock wall and zipline, which I was the one with the honor of going on first, the steep, switch back full, falcon filled mountain which we hiked. We …show more content…
got snowed from the bottom of the valley. That’s a first (both the snow and the bottom of mountain) the amazing food that was served, the mud filled, fun filled gaga pit and of course the all memorable dance. And this is where the real story starts. So we had danced our hearts out and watched the cheesy skits and then was curfew. “No not curfew. I don’t want to go to bed. It’s only eleven o’clock. No.” When the teachers finally forced us into our cabins, we just hung out. My friends Brett and Derek wanted to mess around in their sleeping bags and fight with their pillows so I joined them. We whacked, smacked and tumbled for about forty minutes until one of our chaperones popped his head in. We thought we were in trouble so we immediately pretended to sleep: the classic trick. Apparently, he didn’t fall for it and told us “If any of your want to play pool, come with us.” “But it’s in the main building and it’s locked.” “Actually, I unlocked it after the dance. Adam, Hiu, Logan, and Thomas are coming with us. And maybe, we can get a scare on the other cabin” “ Sweet. Brett, Derek want to join us” They snoozed as if they hadn’t have been hyper two minutes earlier.
Huu-Shhh, Huu-Shhh. So, in the dark of midnight, we snuck to the main building. Sure enough, it was open. When we had gotten in, we relaxed and calmly went upstairs to the pool area. The thrill of disobeying the rules felt pretty good and besides, we had adult permission. Permission in fact, from Counselor Ray of the Gilbert town council. So we played, two games going at a time. Crack! Smack! Balls rolling everywhere. Two v Two, Neck ‘n Neck. The first game belonged to Hiu and I, the next to Logan and Adam. Eventually, the four of us got tired and wanted to go back and sleep. “ But what about the scare” said
Thomas. “You and your dad can go do that” the rest of us agreed. So we split up into two, Mr Ray and his son to the other guy cabin and the rest of us towards our own cabin. As we trudged toward “Base” we all felt we had bonded a little more and that the risk was worth the while, even intense. We got to camp, got to our bunks, and slept, dreaming dreams of what tomorrow brings.
I enjoyed my week there, learning about computer engineering and the jobs surrounding the profession. During the week we learned about raspberry pi's, genetic algorithms, A.I., circuitry, etc. The possibilities were endless, while it lasted. I also gained insight on the lives of the army engineers and scientists that taught the program. The SEAP program would provide me with a deeper understanding of the engineering world and the army jobs that could branch out from the SEAP program.
The first part of the series of articles The Physical Education Hall of Shame lists childhood games which are considered inappropriate for physical education classes. The author argues that some games are potentially unsafe, have minimal participation time factors, they are potential to embarrass the student in front of their classmates, and focus on eliminating students from participation. One of the harmful games is Dodgeball. Even though the game involves teamwork, strategy, and motor skills, the game might be dangerous, and also includes the highly skilled students. Another game mentioned by Williams is Duck, Duck, Goose. It is a game of a minimal participation, where generally five students

Summer term 2016 was the very first time I was considered a college student who attended Florida International University or any university for that matter. I was nervous, intimidated by the drastic changes that were about to occur in my life. As a first semester freshman I did not know what the college life held for me and did not want to. I was closed off from my surroundings and felt comfortable going from home to school and back home. It was convenient not having to be involved in all of these extracurricular activities and clubs. I would always have more than enough time to excel in my studies as I breezed through the semester with exceptional
6th grade, and I was saying hello, and now 8th grade has come and it’s gone from introductions to goodbyes as my last days as a middle school student wind down. 8th grade, 8th grade from the opening day to the signing of the yearbooks. This is the year of memories, goodbyes, and regrets. 8th grade and I’m still realizing that there are people in the world that would die to go to a school like this.
It was in first grade that I truly learned what the world was like., you are too fat, you are too ugly, we do not like you, you are not cool, you are trailer trash, you are so poor that you have to wear Walmart clothes... Feeling belittled, heartbroken and angered, I walked away with my head down, tears in my eyes and
Section E was the best group and we enjoyed every class together. I had Mrs. Zambetti. Mrs. Prisco, Mr. Perrotti, Mr. Justave, and Mrs. Rosiak who were all the most wonderful teachers. I’ll never forget Egypt Day when Shealyn and I made an amazing diorama of the Nile River, dressed up as Egyptians in togas, and put eyeliner on all the girls, even Dominick who could not get it off and had to keep it on for the rest of the day. It was so funny! Mediterranean Day was also very fun as we ate all types of Mediterranean foods such as humus, pita bread, grapes, baklava, and more. Of course our Athens vs. Sparta field day competition was full of fun as we raced each other around the pond and played various games. Sixth grade was a yet another great year and one that I really
Now Mrs. Trotter is my favorite but that’s beside the point... I loved school and I met all of my friends. This was truly the year that started my life. This was the year that I learned math, reading, science, social studies, and all of these subjects. School was something that I looked forward to and I loved learning all sorts of things and then when I got home, bragging to my parents about how smart I was. I had a habit of writing everything I heard or said on the air with my fingers… My teacher said it was a great habit to have , but my sister thought different. Overall, this was one of the best years of my life and I loved
The big year, Senior year. This year has gone by super fast, almost to fast. The highlight of this year was taking 4 Ag classes. Brasser and Buttram have made my senior year. They have taught me more in one year than I have in 3. Brasser was in the service for a long time, so i'm telling us his stories were crazy. I learned how to use power tools and build a shed. Buttram convinced me to try FFA, I was open to try new things so I did it. It was my first year and I improve at every meet. We were a team of 4 and only 3 showed up so basically we can’t move on from districts because our scores wouldn’t be enough. I still had a great time and got a lot of experience to take with me. I wish I was in an Ag class freshman year. Basketball season wasn’t
Rock climbing was took place on the third day of the trip. Climbing up the rocks was challenging, but no one ever gave up. We were able to cheer each other on and it allowed some people to face their fear of heights. The fourth day we went white water rafting. We had to work as a team to paddle through the water or else our raft would have failed on its own. It was another chance to work as a team to accomplish something together. The last day of the trip, we completed the odyssey course. Our leaders were telling us that the course was college. The ropes we were holding on to were our parents and we had to let them go to be able to experience college fully. Each task was something new and we had to say our goal and then accomplish it by completing the task. It was very challenging, especially since it was raining, but everyone worked together and we all made it. This trip held class each night, and we had questions we had to write about. This was the most effective part of the trip because it allowed everyone to sit down and answer the different questions that the leaders were giving us. The conversations we had taught me more about college and about West
We did so much, and it went by so fast, faster than any other previous year, and I wish it hadn't. My favorite part of this year was all of the trips. We went to Philadelphia and saw amazing buildings hundreds of years old such as the liberty bell and independence hall. We visited the Preschool down the road, and I made a new little friend. My favorite of all, Washington D.C. I got to spend 2 school days with three of my best friends still while learning. This was my favorite trip because I got to spend school hours with people on other teams, while still having fun. Eighth grade has more privileges than the other years, but you have to use them wisely. I wasn't exactly the best at using them wisely. Teachers knew me to be very sassy because I had quite the
It was Saturday night, the last non-school night of our four day break, and we decided to go all out. We were playing beer pong, flip cup, quarters, kings, bonging beers, doing keg stands, sh...
One day, Jim or Jimmy as we called him, the guy we all teased in grade school because of his hair and mismatched clothes said he would challenge Gunnar to a game. For weeks Gunnar and Jimmy hung out together and played games. Gunnar was happy again. We waited for the day Gunnar would get tired of him and try to move onto someone else. The hanging together didn't last long and Gunnar got tired of Jimmy. Gunnar needed something more challenging than Jimmy.
Observing their move and listening in to their conversation I came to a realization that they were on the volleyball team. They discussed a previous game and criticized each other on what should be done in certain situations. The sat side by side which one talk the other two listened. They touched note upon who should be starting the next volleyball match, what games are coming up soon, and finally what up and coming parties are taking place. After about ten minutes passed I shifted my attention to the two tall basketball player that were also relatively close to me and the volleyball girls. They discussed how hot and spicy their buffalo wings are, when basketball workouts begin, and who’s looking to win the championship this year. In about five minutes into their conversation they were interrupted by a young lady and a young man. Both the basketball boys and the volleyball girls instantly said hello to them and all of them began to talk about the famous event called “Battle of the Lex”. This event is where all athletes come together and dress up as a character and cheers on the basketball team or volleyball team according one of the tall basketball players. As their conversations went on others began to include themselves in the discussion. Fur girls from the softball team while eating discussed different ideas. Boys from the swimming team also chipped in some ideas. At about 1:15 the whole lounge had a say in the
I remember my fourth grade year as if it were yesterday. My homeroom teacher, Mr.
