Blood Brothers For Life Analysis

Anthony and Gunnar, friends for life. They met in second grade, in Ms. Williams class. They played at recess together, walked home together and played on the little football association together up into high school where they played high school football. One summer they even became "blood brothers" by cutting their wrists and pressing their wrists together. Brothers for life.
The difference between the two is that Gunnar loved to win. He loved the cheering crowd, loved the slaps and high fives he received from teammates. He was definitely an attention seeker. It was not only when playing sports but it slipped over to video games. He bragged on facebook when he succeeded and scored high or beat someone.
One thing Gunnar hated the most was to lose. He was a poor loser. Since he hated losing he began to study cheats on the internet and learned how

to cheat. Of course, Gunnar didn't call it cheating. He told us that he was just good and better than us poor losers. For a while he had us all fooled, he was so good at hiding the cheating we didn't know he was cheating.
At school he was Mr.

Popular, the cool dude, everyone loved him. After while everyone got tired of the bragging, and didn't want to hang with him anymore. It was almost like he was too cool to even hang with Anthony. Soon no one wanted him to be the leader of things. Gunnar couldn't understand he was a winner, he succeeded at beating everyone. No one wanted to challenge him or play games with him. Gunnar started getting really depressed.
One day, Jim or Jimmy as we called him, the guy we all teased in grade school because of his hair and mismatched clothes said he would challenge Gunnar to a game. For weeks Gunnar and Jimmy hung out together and played games. Gunnar was happy again. We waited for the day Gunnar would get tired of him and try to move onto someone else. The hanging together didn't last long and Gunnar got tired of Jimmy. Gunnar needed something more challenging than Jimmy.
Posted all over the school were posters of a big gamers championship going on with tri-schools. With his grand thinking and overrating of himself, Gunnar decided to sign up for the

games.
We decided when the day came we'd go and watch Gunnar. A little curious to see if he was as good as he claimed to be. As Gunnar began to play, he started to use some of those tricks he'd learned. Something was terribly wrong, you could see it on his face. His face was flushed and he kept leaning his head to the side like he had a kink in his neck. He kept losing, his cheats and tricks were not working. He soon lost out and had to sit on the sidelines.
Gunnar was embarrassed; He was a good player. However, without the tricks, he couldn't beat anyone. It wasn't long and he soon was out of the competition. Gunnar sat there sad and disappointed.
The championship drew to an end and the winner was announced. Jimmy, the poor boy from school was the winner. Gunnar was surprised, he had always beaten Jimmy. Gunnar being so caught up in playing, trying new tricks and beating Jimmy he didn't realize that Jimmy was so good. Jimmy hadn't cared if he won or not. He was playing to learn and each time he lost, he tried to figure out his mistakes.
We later learned that the Judges were wise. In order to prevent players from using cheats or tricks they blocked and prevented them from working. Did Gunnar learn anything from his game playing? Sadly, he did not. The year after high school graduation, his picture was on the front page in the newspaper for tricking someone and cheating them in a business affair.
