I remember my fourth grade year as if it were yesterday. My homeroom teacher, Mr.
Anderson, would stand at the front of the room each morning at 9:15, and wait
patiently for us to say the Pledge of Allegiance. Then, like clockwork, at
exactly 9:17, as my class of 28 sat down, he would set up a magic trick,
pretending each day that something was going wrong during the set-up. As Mr.
Anderson did this, he would often tell us a story that in some way or another
related to the magic trick he showed us. Then, as he finished the trick, he
would tell us the moral to the story.
Now a days I don't have someone there for me constantly saying what I should or
should not do. I often find myself in situations in which I must be the one to
decide if, for instance, I should go to a party or to the bars, or stay home and
concentrate on the massive amounts of homework that have piled up. It is at
times like these when Mr. Anderson's words of advice float though my head. The
one I hear Mr. Anderson saying most often in the back ...
In the late 1970s, the USA established full diplomatic relations with China and terminated the mutual defense treaty that the USA and the ROC had signed in 1954. Also, the US opened its markets, and continued to restrict the export to China of technologies having possible military uses. But 1982, Chinese began to distance themselves from the USA to imrove their relations with the Soviet Union. But only a year later, after a substantial loosening of US restrictions on exports to China, the relationship between China and the USA began to improve again.

Describe the skills or attributes you believe are necessary to be an outstanding teacher. One of the most important skills that are necessary to be an outstanding teacher is getting to know the whole child/student in your classroom. It's vital that every student feels valued and a sense of belonging in the classroom and that comes from a teacher that is kind, encouraging, caring, respectful and passionate about learning and teaching. When a teacher carries those attributes, he or she is able to engage all students in discourse and instruction.
Racism was evident in America since the time when the puritans crossed over the Atlantic to find new meaning and life. The Native American Indians were driven out, slaughtered and later confined to a territory similar to how the Chinese workers and immigrants were during the end of 19th century. The 100,000 Chinese living in the U.S. who sailed over to accumulate some wealth and go back to China, were subject to discriminatory treatment which was mainly due to racial difference. They had to suffer very much from many militant labor unions, violent and discriminatory American people, and laws that restricted Chinese immigration, becoming citizen, owning land, working for corporations, attending white schools and many more. (Arkush, Lee, 57) In Huang Zunxian’s poem he gives clear descriptions on how the Americans treated the Chinese just because of different color of their skins. It is not just in his writing that expressed sorrow and pain but most of Chinese writing about America in 19th and 20th century is in a somber tone. Although America was always thought and imagined as a paradi...
At 7:31 p.m. July 15, 1971, 2 years after President Richard Nixon was re-elected as President of the United States of America, he made remarks that were broadcast on television and radio that would change the history of the Sino-American relationship. In the “Remarks to the Nation Announcing Acceptance of an Invitation To Visit the People's Republic of China”, Nixon announced that he would accept the invitation of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) to visit before May 1972. Nixon claimed that this action sought to normalize the relationship with the PRC, and would allow the leaders of the both nations to discuss common interests. However, Nixon emphasized that the tour was not ‘directed against any other nation.’ This, of course, was to comfort two other major stakeholders against the new relationship, the pro-western faction China – the Republic of China (ROC) and PRC’s communist ally USSR. The other point that Nixon emphasized was the concept of peace, he suggested the efforts to rebuild trust and good relations with PRC were an effort to ‘build a lasting peace’ in the world.
6th grade, 6th grade was a very insisting year mainly because I was new to this whole middle school thing. In 6th grade I met a really good friend of mine that I would continue to be friends with though middle school, his name was jj. Me and jj meet in 6th grade, we had the same homeroom. JJ and I would continue to carry each other to the end of 6th grade. Also in 6th I had the best homeroom teacher, Let's just call her Mrs.steelers. Mrs.steelers and I had a great bond, we both loved the steelers. Mrs.steelers would continue to guide me to victory in the 6th grade.
Now Mrs. Trotter is my favorite but that’s beside the point... I loved school and I met all of my friends. This was truly the year that started my life. This was the year that I learned math, reading, science, social studies, and all of these subjects. School was something that I looked forward to and I loved learning all sorts of things and then when I got home, bragging to my parents about how smart I was. I had a habit of writing everything I heard or said on the air with my fingers… My teacher said it was a great habit to have , but my sister thought different. Overall, this was one of the best years of my life and I loved
By the end of the 1800s, multiple nations had forced their way into China in hopes of profit for themselves—including the United States. When president McKinley sent American troops to China, he realized that they were “marching shoulder to shoulder with the Germans and Japanese and French and British troops.” All said troops had been forcing involvement with China for some time. These troops also shared the same goal, but for themselves—except the States.
Philosophy causes a great amount of confusion to people, especially when asked to define it. Many philosophers throughout the years have brought about many different definitions. For example Kant said it is “the principles of the rational cognition of things by means of concepts”; Heidegger on the other hand said it was the “guardian of reason”. Yet they were never able to come into accordance on what it exactly means. If asked to define, what is philosophy? I would say it is the “answer” to all questions, which facts have not been able to solve. Take the following question into consideration: “How do active Galactic Nuclei form and evolve?” A scientist will easily answer that question using scientific facts, which have demonstrated how Galactic Nuclei form and evolve. Now ask yourself these questions: “What is Logic” or “What is reality?” There is no amount of facts that could provide a concrete on what these actually are. That is Philosophy.
The awakening of China, as was predicted by Napoleon centuries ago, is gradually causing ripples across the world. This is contradictive in that even after engaging the UN militarily in the 1950s conflict with Korea, it later came to be a key factor in Cold War politics, a solid member of the UN Security Council, and today, it is one of the most-evaluated nations on earth as it greatly impacts on global politics.
Mr. Geis- the tall, bike-riding Calculus teacher who truly made me realize the value of education. As far as academics were concerned, I believed I had always tried my best in reaching my full potential. That is, until
Very briefly, philosophy might be regarded as a conceptual enquiry dealing with fundamental issues relating to life, knowledge and values. By conceptual enquiry we mean an enquiry that relies primarily on critical reasoning. This includes :
There is always that one person or thing that creates a confusion in your mind. That person could speak wise words to you, but leave you to figure them out at a later time or maybe that one thing a coach made you do that you couldn’t seem to understand. Sometimes being lead to the answers kills the understanding process. A philosophy is known for being an activity of thought. It expresses the way you see certain things and the beliefs you build towards them. My personal philosophy is to simply start.
There are many things which make a teacher great and they all can`t be defined. However i`ve always considered several of them essential. In my opinion a good teacher is someonewho first of all creates interest in studying, doesn`t underestimate the children, has equal expectations of siccess from everyone and last but not least likes his job.
Students across all cultures have been studying philosophical ideas for thousands of years. This means that the world of philosophy is huge. When a student decides to take philosophy they are exposed to an almost endless pool of ideas to learn from. One of the important ideas is how philosophy is behind many personal motivations, political motivations, and cultural motivations. It is crucial for students to gain this knowledge to understand their minds and lives. When we learn about others we in turn learn about ourselves. In understanding others beliefs and ideas we can create our own. This is essential to being a student anywhere in the world. To study in any field requires a need to see an idea come from every angle and be broken down in every possible way. The nature of philosophy is to be able to break down a variety of ideas and beliefs into their most valuable parts. This gives students a valuable tool in not only the academic world but the workforce as well. Everything from being a historian to a software engineer requires this
