I’m a visual learner. To start off, I learn best by reading and seeing pictures, to do this i need to sit up in front of the classroom, during tests, I don´t get distracted easy. Next, I will use flashcards to learn new words and i will try to visualize things as I hear people read to me. Also, most of the times I like to read myself and picture and imagine things in the book. As a result, I know my style and I can become a better and smarter
learner.
The visual learners prefer to use pictures, images, maps, colors, and spatial intelligence, which assist them to arrange their information, interact with others and give them a great sense of direction. They are great at accumulating information, curious and inquisitive due to the fact that without adequate information, the portrait of what they are learning will be imperfect. They are also enthusiastic about theory and facts; system diagram helps them to visualize the connection between parts of a system; story method assists them to learn by heart the content that cannot be seen easily. (Garner, 2012)
As the dull scent of chalk dust mixes imperceptably with the drone of the teacher's monotone, I doodle in my tablet to stay awake. I notice vaguely that, despite my best efforts in the shower this morning after practice, I still smell like chlorine. I sigh and wonder why the school's administration requires the students to take a class that, if it were on the Internet, would delight Mirsky (creator of Mirsky's Worst of the Web), as yet another addition to his list of worthless sites. Still, there was hope that I would learn something that would make today's first class more than just forty-five wasted minutes... It wouldn't be the first time I learned something new from the least likely place.
According to the textbook, “learning styles refer to the ways in which and conditions under which learners most efficiently and most effectively perceive, process, store , and recall what they are attempting to learn” (p.122). People have different learning style depending on how each person learn best based on interest and situation they are under. I am personally more visual and sensory in practical world than the theoretical matter. However, I can manage to learn both ways depending on what kind of information I am gaining and how it is presented to me. I have to be ready to learn and should be somehow interested on the information I am about to receive or in the process of receiving. Which means that I am more interested in auditory, sensory, and visionary leaning presentation approaches. I do understand and remember things more by listening, sensing, and observing than a
It is beneficial to know that I am a visual learner due to the fact I have to visually see things for myself to understand and learn it. Growing up I have always been a visual learner. I found this inventory to be correct because of they way that I am , and how I take things in. When trying an auditory learning method, one big problem I struggle with is being able to pay attention long enough. By obtaining the confirmation on my preferred learning method, I can broaden my learning method by practicing the other learning methods outside of visual learning. I believe that I can open my learning styles by tring the other methods. After reading the learning method I think I will do good if I tried kinesthetic, being that I can see it as well as being hands
The different types of learning styles are visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. Visual learners prefer to study with the aid of visual stimulus like diagrams, images, drawings, mind-maps. Auditory learners prefer to study by listening, watching videos with sound, and reading out loud. Kinesthetic learners prefer to study by actually doing an activity, writing out notes while in a lecture, doodling while listening, or practical work. These learning styles will benefit you in developing a studying and note-taking routine. When you know your learning style, you can adapt your notes accordingly. For example, visual learners may want to use symbols or color coding while kinesthetic learners may want to use doodles to display information. Note-taking is an effective way of studying and will help students feel more confident when exam time comes around. In addition, simply reading through textbook pages is not effective, you must annotate your text to fully process the information. For example, highlighting the text is a good way to emphasize the main concepts that you will need to grasp for the exams. No one is going to take your exams for you so it is best that you adapt your note taking and reading methods to fit you
Throughout my life, I have loved to draw. Due to my love of drawing, I decided to take a career in something that has to do with art. A few things have happened in my life that has caused me to take this path. Three people that I have interacted in some way, are the reason for my choices.
Learning styles are how individuals approach learning new concepts based on their strengths, weaknesses, and preferences. Acquiring and being aware of your learning styles is beneficial to accurately processing information that could be used for intellectual growth. Furthermore, learning styles are a part of how humans function and receive information from their world, so not being properly informed about this concept could bloom confusion, dysfunction, and chaos in society. Each learning style has a different goal and approach in interpreting information based on each individual’s abilities and should be regarded as being such. Nonetheless, it is a complex system that is produced to simplify and make sense of our world. Read/write was the
Throughout my years in school I have always caught on to a new topic after seeing some sort of example accompanying the lesson, which is why I would consider myself more of a visual learner. According to the Smart Measure Assessment I am primarily an Aural and Solitary learner. An Aural learner is someone who uses music or musical techniques as a strategy to learn something, after thinking about it I will partially agree that this is accurate because I tend to link songs to a past events and certain topics I have learned but it isn’t my primary way of learning because it happens unintentionally. A Solitary is pretty much someone who likes to be alone in order ...
I use visual intelligence in every aspect of my life. My use of this intelligence varies from studying to hobbies. I learned recently that the only way I understand a concept is when I see it in pictures. I used to think reading the textbook was helpful for me because it allowed me to have a better understanding of the topic. I recently learned that reading textbooks is helpful for me because of the pictures provided in them. The titles in different colors, the bolded words, and the complementary pictures are all very helpful.
I have many strengths and weaknesses. My strongest academic skills are most likely my organizational skills. I am a very organized person. I have numerous amounts of organizational products such as planners, binders, and dividers. I have greatly benefited by these products, especially when I attended public school, they really helped me stay on task with what work needed to be turned into to each class. Planners are the product I have utilized the most. When I attended public school we had an A/B schedule. Planners played a key part in helping me remember when test and other things would be coming up in my classes. Another strength of mine would be my career decidedness. I already have plans as to what I want to be when I grow up and the steps
In times, we often see things, but we don't really capture what is beyond it. In some cases, there are people who are artistic and are prone to see what other's cannot visualize. Every individual has a talent which can be expressed and processed differently. Something you see can mean entirely divergent things to someone else;for example, some may see thing's that may seem simple, but in the eyes of an artist, it can be perceived with a whole new definition, dimension, and a potentially new discovery. As a photographer, my view of the world, can be skewed towards looking at everyday objects as potential art, but it wasn't always like that.
There are three types of learning styles. They are: auditory, visual and kinesthetic. An auditory learner processes information by hearing and discussing the information. Visual learners process information through visuals such as charts, pictures, and other types of printed information. Kinesthetic learners process information by muscle movements and experiences that are hands-on. Through the assessment I have discovered that my strongest learning style is a visual style with a score of 13, followed by kinesthetic, 8, and lastly auditory with a score of 4. Based upon this, my strength is using a visual learning style. The things I do now in studying that are within the guidelines include: read the book chapters and highlight while reading, pay special attention to charts and diagrams shown in the book or in class. By reading and highlighting I have found I can quickly go back through the information and reread the important facts, helping me remember them better. The more times I go over the information, the more effective I am come test day. I have found it very easy to read charts and diagrams in textbooks. Generally, by being able to read certain charts, it is much easier and faster to comprehend the information than if I was to read the paragraphs about it. A new study strategy that I will implement will include: writing what I highlight down into my own handwriting, adding ...
Without realizing it, I learned about what a visual learner is and methods I used in school to make sense of the knowledge I obtained. According to Judie Haynes (2009), a visual learner is able to learn best by seeing or observing and includes examples of using computer graphics, cartoons, posters, diagrams, graphic organizers, text with pictures, and maps. Pictures are essential to children’s
I agree that I am an auditory and visual learner. I learn best hearing and seeing things for myself. I have been an auditory learner since I was young, for instance, when I was young all my mom had to do was make whatever she wanted me to learn into a song, and I would have it mesmerized in a day. Also, I am a visual learner because I have always enjoyed in class lessons vs. online courses. I believe I lean towards these learning styles due to how I was taught growing up. I was homeschooled my whole life leading up to college and due to the fact that my mom relied online programs, that are verbal by nature, as well as herself, I believed this greatly influence the learning style I have.
Everyone has different learning styles. Learning styles are important because they help you better understand materials in classes. They are there to guide you and become a better student. Learning styles help you better grasp the material and better process it through your brain. When learning you want to do what is most beneficial for you. That is why there is many different learning styles to suit every person. There is three different types of learning styles categorized. The first learning style is auditory. Auditory is meant for individuals that enjoy asking questions, talking and listening, as well as like to read out loud. Visual learners are more interested in charts, graphs, neat surroundings, seeing rather than hearing, and are pictured to be timid as they read to themselves rather than out loud. Finally there is the kinesthetic learning style. Kinesthetic is to touch, to feel, and usually learn by doing.
