I am laying in bed at my house staring up at the ceiling waiting for the day to begin. What brought me to this point was more than the physical or mental need for sleep, what led me here has spanned the course of my high school career, a series of blackened days each exactly like the one before it has led me to this place.
I suppose that after waking up about 4 times I should get out of bed but I feel nauseous at the prospect of another day. Here I am seventeen years old, a time in life when most people always have something going on in the morning, and yet I try my best to sleep the day away.
Slowly I move to my mirrored closet feeling as though I'm walking through Jell-O, each step a deliberate effort, although my body is young and healthy. I often wish that life came with a conveyor belt that I could just step on and ride to get where I need to go.
Most days sleeping seems a less painful way to spend the hours than living. My dreams are my only escape. If I could, I’d love to, oh-so-neatly, slip into the shoes of one of my friends who smilingly surround me. What does it feel li...
I come home from college and see my mom cooking dinner over the stove as I walk up the stairs. My tiredness sets in as I rush to my room to put down my heavy bag. My mom yells to me as I start to change my clothes.
Silence teaches and creates things, it also leaves things bottled up inside and emotions running astray. In the book, The Chosen the characters didn't always know what was happening with others because they were silent many times. But some could know what each other were talking about like, Danny and Reuven. They could understand each other even when silent because of the close relationship they had Danny's silence is based on "Being raised in silence", "The technique and how it impacted Danny", and "How the method of raising a child can work out"
and soon I was sleeping. I spent a great deal of time asleep over the
Researches state that 90% of people with severe depression have insomnia. Waking up early in the morning is a classic sign of depression, along with having difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep. Laboratory studies show that depressed people spend more time in REM sleep and less time in slow-wave sleep. Which can increase
Set your alarm at least an hour before you really need to get out of the bed. If you set the alarm for an earlier hour you get to hit the snooze button few extra times. After the third hit, you should have awakened enough to actually rise out of the bed. Fix yourself a cup of coffee, sit on the sofa, and stare into space at least fifteen minutes, but no more than thirty. This gives you time to not think about all that you have to do today.
Social norms have existed in every society since the dawn of time and they are very prevalent in The Scarlet Letter Social norms in the novel are based upon very Puritanical values which causes the townspeople to live a very rigidly structured lifestyle. Naturally, this type of society causes many problems for those who choose to go against the values of society. In The Scarlet Letter, Hester is shown to be one of those who goes against society when she is convicted of adultery. Because she is convicted of this, she is ostracized from society. Upon her being ostracized, she becomes more enlightened than most because she is given the ability to see society through a different lens in the comfort of privacy in her own cottage. It is in private settings such as these that produce some remarkable discoveries about society. Thus, in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s novel The Scarlet Letter, the need for privacy in uncovering the truth suggests man's natural discomfort in open society.
Have you ever had to experience something so awful that you felt like you had to keep it a secret to yourself for a very long period of time? While you were keeping that secret bottled up inside you, did you do certain things to keep your mind off it or to forget about it all together? If so, you and Jesse Vogel have a lot in common, because keeping a secret bottled up inside himself is what determined a lot of situations and events in Jesse’s life. Jesse had an extremely horrifying event happen to him when he was just a child (seeing his entire family dead after his father murdered them and then the father himself taking his own life), and the aftermath of that event for Jesse became a daily struggle with himself to cope
In this paper I hope to open a window to the vast and mysterious world of dreaming. To most people, information about dreams isn’t common knowledge. In researching this subject though, I found that everybody has and reacts to dreams, which are vital to your mental health. You will also find how you can affect your dreams and how they affect you.
I scarcely snoozed at all, the day before; incidentally, I felt insecure regarding the fact of what the unfamiliar tomorrow may bring and that was rather unnerving. After awakening from a practically restless slumber, I had a hefty breakfast expecting that by the conclusion of the day, all I wanted to do is go back home and sleep. Finally, after it was over, my dad gladly drove me to school; there, stood the place where I would spend my next four years of my life.
In life, many things are taken for granted on a customary basis. For example, we wake up in the morning and routinely expect to see and hear from certain people. Most people live daily life with the unsighted notion that every important individual in their lives at the moment, will exist there tomorrow. However, in actuality, such is not the case. I too fell victim to the routine familiarity of expectation, until the day reality taught me otherwise.
I will be telling you how I wake up in the morning. There are a few things that you will need to know. The night before you go to bed, you should set your alarm for the right time. You will also need to make sure that you have the coffee pot ready to go for the morning so that you will only need to turn it on when you get up. Another thing that you will need to be aware of is the snooze button; it can be a major pitfall in getting up on time. My alarm clock takes a battery so that, if the power goes out, it will still go off at the right time. The last big pitfall is not going to bed early enough to get enough sleep for the next day.
The Scripture says, I begged the Lord three times to take this problem away from me. But he said to me, "My grace is enough for you. When you are weak, my power is made perfect in you." So I am very happy to brag about my weaknesses. Then Christ's power can live in me. (2 Cor. 12:8-9) It is my position that although God did not create suffering or disabilities, He allows them in order to show this dying world what his grace, mercy, and redemptive power looks like. Suffering is inevitable. It will effect each human that is born into this world, in one way or another. Suffering may come in one of many ways. It may be mental, emotional, physical, and/or socio economic. In addition, suffering could be concealed (internal) or apparent (external). Those with mental and physical disabilities are often times life-long sufferers and their suffering is a lot more intense and devastating. However, regardless of the type of suffering, we all need God and His word to comfort us in our time of affliction.
The suffering of man is a very complicated matter that is most likely impossible to understand completely. It is a subject that people have grappled with since the dawn of recorded history. In fact, suffering is evident in every form of art man has created. Suffering is in our paintings, our poetry, our music, our plays, and in anything else that is conceivable. But still, we as a whole still struggle with the idea of suffering. It is my opinion that some individuals may grasp the notion of suffering more than others, but that no one person will ever fully understand suffering in every form. A person may only understand his or her own personal suffering, not suffering as a whole. It is the next step to then say that "understanding comes through suffering," which I also believe to be true. It is impossible to fully know what the suffering of a person is like, unless you have experienced the same thing in his own shoes.
God to help us get through these terrible times. We all have to try to
I walk with anxiety toward the house at which I will spend the rest of my life.
