Personal Ethical Action Plan Why a personal action plan is important for the future: Ethical living is one of the foremost biggest issues in society. It is a constant pressure because the thought is “if someone is ethical they can change what is currently being done in society like a crappy education system or make new laws on climate change”. In turn, if we have more “good” people this would make the world a better place by living a “good” moral life. We need to practice our values at home, work, downtime, and travel. The reason behind this ethical action plan is to help me if I am ever faced with the position in which I am having a hard time what ethical action should I take. The definition of responsibility as said by the Business Dictionary is “A duty or obligation to satisfactory perform or complete a task (assigned by someone, or created by one’s promise or circumstances) that one must fulfill, and which has a consequent for failure.” In my eyes someone who is responsible is someone who can be trusted even while unsupervised by managers, professors, a significant other, or friends. While I was there we also went to Kaberamaido, a rural community out in the bush, and we held a kid’s camp. I helped feed kids who ate their first meal in a week. I put together lesson plans and taught basic math while play games. I felt compassion after I was able to help these kids. Understanding the suffering and state of mind these kids were in broke my heart. Some of them experienced extreme hunger on a weekly basis, wondering when they will have their next meal. Even though this is an extreme case it helped me comprehend the root of where my compassion came from. I think people are able to feel compassionate when they are able to help others just like I was able too. Furthermore, in class we completed the “Funeral Exercise” (See Appendix 2) and one value I really want to be remembered by the people in my life whether it be loved ones, friends, or coworkers is that I am compassionate. It is an imperative aspect of ethical values because when people want to improve suffering of others it helps the world become a better place. When making a hard decision, if an individual has
