Why I Want To Be A Physical Therapist

Altruism: The ultimate goal of a physical therapist is to improve a patient’s quality of life. With this ability to do so, it is important for a therapist to use their skills in a way that will give back to their community. Its seems that devotion to helping people inside and outside of the clinic is a very common notion. I’ve witnessed this at the clinics that I’ve worked at and with the therapists that I’ve shadowed as well. Working as a volunteer and PT technician, I’ve participated in community events that have involved the assistance in high school sports physicals and other events involving physical activities. My family and I have also volunteered to prepare meals for those in need on a few holidays. Overall, this goes to present the type of people filling the role of this profession.

Compassion and Caring: One of the most important aspects of providing therapy is to have a compassion and caring manner towards each patient. Creating a friendly environment for each person receiving therapy is an important part of patient centered care. One …show more content…

Safety is accounted for by following procedure and protocol. This can involve making sure the patient understands how to continue improvement at home and in the future. Safety also involves reporting any sort misconduct that might be of harm to the patient. Additionally, accountability involves continuous evolution in skill and practice. It is the therapist’s responsibility to keep up with new evidence presented to better assist the populations treated. An advanced education is the main reason why I chose to attending Wayne State. In my last profession, I also did my research as to what school would be the best to attend for that. I want to be the best therapist that I can be with advanced and continued courses not only for personal achievement but more importantly for the future health of each patient that I work
