Passion's Influence on Behaviour and Character

Which of your character traits do you believe most influenced your behaviors? Why?

“This one will live. This one will live,” I told myself persistently as nothing more than lifeless children were being given to me. With every death, my passion for children grew a bit greater until before I knew it, that passion grew into an obsession. After ten sorrow-filled, stillborn children, it occured to me that the passionate attitude I give to everything I care about influences my behaviors both positively and negatively. For instance, I am aware that other women view me as easy when it comes to romantic relationships. After awhile, I learned how to ignore them because they don’t know that it is my desire to love and care, not a lack of

composure, that leads me to behave like I do. I believe this is a positive effect because now, I am happily raising my own son, Stephen, and every decision I have made in my past has led me to this point. Unfortunately, this attitude has led me to tell lies when I see no other suitable option. Back when Francie was in elementary school, she complained to me that her teacher refused to allow her to use the bathroom in an attempt to shame her for being poor. I couldn’t stand to see her humiliated for something so far out of her control. I was so taken aback by the teacher’s actions that I posed as Katie and lied to the teacher about a medical condition, kidney failure, to be exact. I made it clear to her that Francie must be allowed to use the bathroom, for this disease is not to be overlooked. In retrospect, perhaps there were other more honest, principled ways to resolve Francie’s problem, yet I couldn’t stand to see her treated like that for another minute. Limitless love does have its downsides. As I have learned, it should be a priority in life to find what you love and carry it closely, but one should be conscious of whether their passion is helping or harming them.
