There are many times that we react on emotion to fast and regret it later. Some people emotions get in a boiling rage and they are ready to duke it out. (Emotions) A lot of people know that emotions play a big role in their everyday life such as their actions. The old saying actions speak louder than words. That would be your emotions speaking just without the sound coming from your mouth. There are a lot of people that show no emotion at all. “Emotions that are not… released but buried within the body …can cause serious illness, including cancer, arthritis, and many types of chronic illnesses.” (Emotions) This next sentence is very important because it talks about the different illnesses that affect us every single day when we let the negative emotion take over. “Negative emotions such as fear, anxiety, frustration, depression cause chemical reactions in your body that are very different form the chemicals released when you feel positive emotions such as happy, content, loved accepted.”
Negative emotions stop us from thinking and behaving rationally and seeing situations in their true perspective. When the negative emotion overrules a person then he tends to listen only to his inner voice, on which he has no control. Negative emotions should not be prolonged for a longer time and when it happens, the problem becomes more entrenched. Negative emotions, if not handled with patience and appropriate measures, it can lead to big disasters of any kind, for example, expressing anger with violence.
The World State is built on the concept of stability. In an effort to ensure this, the controllers of the World State tried to suppress emotions, especially negative ones, because they can create distractions and cause conflict. Emotions aren’t accepted in the World
Emotions can also put people in all sorts of situations - anger causing someone to think irrationally, unhappiness leading to depression and, possibly, suicide. Although distractions can be hindrances when people are trying to complete projects or finish paragraphs, they can also be useful. People can distract themselves to take their mind off something for a while, they can immerse themselves in a book, a video game, a movie. Emotions are part of what makes people human, and empathy helps us bond and connect with
All of our emotions play a big role in our lives. Even though it does not feel like it at the moment, negative feelings can be a good thing. If we never become sad, angry, or scared we would not be able to appreciate the true value of happiness, we would only focus on ourselves and happiness, and we would become less alert to threats and dangerous situations around us.
What are emotions and do they affect those we relate to in our daily lives. Webster’s Dictionary describes emotions as an affective state of consciousness in which joy, sorrow, fear, or the like is experienced. One can easily see emotions are a strong surge of feelings. These feelings could be happy, sorrowful, joyful, and anxious. You know these feelings and have probably experienced them all from time to time. Different situations will affect our emotions and cause them to change, but can our emotions affect the people that surround us? Do people adjust their attitudes and emotions according to those they are around? In Alice Walker’s, “Am I Blue,” she is deeply affected by the horse and the different emotions it displays. Blue’s emotions affected the way she was feeling. If she felt that he was happy, then she too felt happy. In Walker’s essay, she speaks about Blue’s reaction to loosing his companion and how he grieved. Although he was in a beautiful place, with thousands of acres to run, he had no one to share this with; therefore he became devastated and sad. After reading this article, a pre-school/kindergarten teacher decided to see how her moods and emotions would affect her students. Would their actions and behavior depend solely on the emotions she was experiencing? After watching and observing them over a period of time and experiencing both good moods and bad moods, this is what she found.
Emotional contagion is having one person's emotions and related behaviors directly trigger similar emotions and behaviors in another person or group of people. This can be done through a two-step process of emotional mimicry and synchronization of one's expressions and by vocalizations and posture feedback and movements. When people unconsciously mirror a partner’s expressions, they come to feel these reflections of emotions as well. Emotional mimicry is one of the most highly adaptive behaviors. One can have muscle movements that mirror the expressions they see, including looking at an angry face that activates the corrugator muscle which activates frowning. Then there is also a happy face that contracts the zygomatic major which helps with
In my opinion, the first thing is to develop genuineness. I believe the more I know myself, the easier I can handle and control my emotions. And the key is to recognize what triggers it by increasing self-awareness. The most effective way to develop self-awareness is to ask for comments after having conversation with others. After seeking feedbacks from my interviewees, I realize topics that involve personal value contain a higher chance on pulling the trigger. Therefore, subjects such as religion, politics, culture and race should be avoided through conversation. Also, it is important to predict what I will do or say when I face this kind of situations. Doing such prediction helps myself to understand how I will react, in order to take control of the situation instead of letting my emotion to
As young adults and teens, we all face social and emotional issues. After World War I, the Germans were killing the Jews because they were blaming them for losing the war. For example, Holocaust began because the Jews were being blamed. This was the main issue that the Jews faced. Hitler then got everyone to believe that the Jews were the problem for everything. This is just one example of how issues affected people. Issues are a problem that people face daily. Issues can be divided in to social, emotional, physical. An example of a social issue could be bullying. Bullying is a social issues because it is the way a person decided to communicate to another. Depression is an example of an emotional because it has to do with how a person feels inside. An example of a physical issue would be abuse. Social and emotional issues can be seen in families, friends, and depression.
Emotions play an essential role in our everyday lives and the majority of individuals are not consciously aware about it. Based on how someone’s emotions are for that day, depends on what kind of day that person will have. In essence, the person’s day is impacted by their emotions. The question whether or not a person can control their emotions voluntarily varies from person to person. In some cases, people are able to handle their emotions depending on the situation they're in. For instance, a person cannot lash out on another person because it is not socially acceptable. However, some people do and let their emotions get the better of them. The controlling of one’s emotion is known as emotional regulation. Emotional regulation is the ability
This is an interesting topic since it can determine how well a person can control their emotions, how can their surroundings be affected, especially people, by the way the person feels. There are two ways to self-assets our feelings, w...
Anger is an immediate reaction to an obstacle. It is a strong negative emotion of displeasure, hostility or fury that might occur to anyone on any occasion. Anger generates other bad feelings such as fear, disgust, shame, irritability, outrage, hostility and even violence and the aggressive response it generates can harm you. Anger is a punishment to you for somebody's fault.
One of the key questions proposed in this study was addressing the relationship between emotional intelligence, its components and work performance of undergraduate hospitality students.
Mayer and Salovey (2001) maintained that emotions help prioritise, decide, anticipate and plan one’s actions. In order to effectively manage one’s emotions, one must first learn to identify and recognise them accurately. They should not neglect their emotions as this will reflect lack of self-awareness. For example, when someone lost their loved ones, they choose to be in a state of denial allowing themselves to be drowned in depression and sickness. They refused to get away from feeling negative and find solutions to overcome their emotions. These group of people face difficulties in recognising, identifying and managing their emotions.
Have you ever wondered why people have certain reactions? I chose chapter eight on emotions for my reflection paper because emotions are something that everyone has and feels, yet cannot always explain or react to in the way you would expect. Personally, I have never been great at responding to emotions in a way that I would not regret in the future. Thus, naturally being drawn to this chapter as a way to expand my knowledge on how to react to things more positively. I also wanted to learn why I feel a certain way after events that would not affect most people and be reassured about my feelings. Opposite to that, it is nice to see that, while not always productive, others have the same reaction habits. Overall, emotions are a complicated
When stressful events occur three types of responses take place, an emotional response, a physiological response, and a behavioral response. Negative emotional responses such as anxiety, anger, and grief are common responses to stress. However, in some cases, an individual may exhibit positive emotions when coping with stressful situations. According to Folkman and Moskowiz, positive emotions promote resilience in the face of stress by promoting creativity, problem solving, flexibility, and can enhance physical and psychological health (Weiten & Lloyd, 2006, p. 84).
