Good Sources In seconds, anyone can find anything they’ve ever wanted to know on the internet. With just a few clicks of a button, one can be revealed to a whole new realm of possibilities or answers. One can find the answers they’ve been searching for, but who’s to say the source is reliable? It is important to understand that anyone can put anything on the internet. Whether it be truth, fact, lie or myth, people can do anything they want because the internet is available to all people and rarely censored or modified by any type of authority. When searching the internet for a recreational purpose it’s not that big of a deal, and someone can decide for themselves whether they deem a source legitimate or not. But when researching a topic in which one is going to then create a research paper, article or experiment out of, a credible source should be prioritized and sought after. When looking for these scholarly sources, it is important to know that articles that have gone through the peer review process will have a few specific characteristics. The article itself will have an overabundance of citations, an abstract or intro to what the article is about, a few charts or tables describing the information, a complex language that corresponds to the topic itself, timestamps from when the article was submitted and published, and most peer reviewed journals proudly state on their home page that they are peer reviewed. To evaluate the credibility of a website and support as a credible source for inclusion in a scholarly assignment, the student chose to evaluate www.CDC.gov. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is a component of the Department of Health and Human Services that conducts critical science and provides important health information that protects the nation against dangerous health threats. This website was chosen by the student for a personal and professional interest in health information provided by the CDC. A Google search was performed to locate the website domain CDC.gov, resulting in web address http://www.cdc.gov/. The credibility of the website is evaluated using specific criteria and supported by empirical evidence. Using examples, the importance of evaluating internet-based information for a professional nurse is discussed.
Now that we are living in an ever changing world, technology is viewed as the most resourceful tool in keeping up with the pace. Without the use of technology, communication would be limited to using mail for delivery and encyclopedias for research. Although technology has improved the way we communicate and find information for research, the information is not always valid. Unfortunately, for those of us who use the internet for shopping, research, or reading articles of personal interest the information is not treated the same as a your magazine or book. While such literature is reviewed by an editorial staff, internet literature or information can be published by anyone. In order to reap the full benefit of having the use of technology for any purpose, there are five basic criteria’s one must keep in mind as an evaluating tool for deciding whether or not the particular website is a reliable source for information.
The article that I found on Google about privacy and security on the internet had an author and so did the article about privacy and security that I found on EBSCOHost. Neither of the articles were signed, but the article from EBSCOHost looked like a more resourceful one. The author from the Google article is David Gorodyansky. He seemed to be pretty credible, but not as credible or knowledgable as Scott Peppet, the author of the EBSCOHost article. The article from Google had no sources, but the one that I found on EBSCOHost provided a source where you can find the exact location of the article. This goes to show that anyone can put anything on the internet and that you have to be careful believing and/or using the information online and check it and make sure it’s accurate.
The objective of this essay is to compare Internet research with other sources of information which include books, word of mouth and primary research. This paper will also look at ways of ascertaining the validity of research information for academic work.
Peer Review is scientists who get there worked checked and evaluated by other scientists or experts where they check whether there results are reliable and valid by repeating it and by obtaining similar results which will provide more evidence that the scientific journal is accurate and reliable to publish worldwide. The processes involved are you have to comment on the validity of the science, also you will have to indentify the scientific errors that they could have made. Another thing that you will have to do is look which methodology they used and evaluate the importance of the findings that they have made. Reflective Evaluation The standardized patient experience was useful and interesting for me because I became more confident and active during nursing practice after that practice exam. It was also make me to remember 2012 and 2013 when I was working in the hospital in my country. After that practical activity, I knew how staff nurses should deal and communicate with patients who have different culture and language. Certainly, my specialization is nursing education, but I wanted to take more practical classes during the course or study.

As part of Stage 3, almost 30 online courses were reviewed. The most important ‘on-the-job’ training for these new reviewers was and still is the process of reviewing courses with experienced peer reviewers.
A respectable source is someone who also took the time and done research to back their opinions or theories. When writing make drafts and barnstorm ideas onto the paper which can be revised as you go. When gathering information and journals to back the work compiled ensure that the latest and most current articles are used for reference. One can always be objective towards to topics being researched try to have an open mind and remain unbiased in order to let the facts dictate the outcome.
Peer education is regarded as the effective method of reduction of smoking among adolescents as there are many documented records of how peer support can influence on smoking behaviour. (Sandstom, 2003) Kelly points out that the involvement of influential young people in the close-knit community ensures the changes in health behaviour because of their powerful influence. For instance, David Gelernter claims that “there is no quality control on the internet” (Source E). That is to say, students will be more exposed to misinformation if they were given a laptop in lieu of a textbook. Schools should consider whether it is even effective to use the internet as a source for research. As the world has witnessed today, Google and Facebook -the biggest internet-related services- have trouble censoring false information. This problem limits student’s minds exposed to credible information, possibly teaching them subjects that are incorrect and perhaps, trivial.

For example, instead of going to our local library, we can use Internet search engines. Simply by doing a search, we get thousands of results. The search engines use a ranking system to help us retrieve the most pertinent results in top order. Just a simple click and we have our information. Therefore, we can learn about anything, immediately. In a matter of moments, we can become an expert.
