This term for the beginning of the term I continued to do my Peer Helper Experience in the Nurse's office at Lincoln. Closer to the end of the term I had to switch to a classroom to finish out my field experience for the term. I enjoyed getting to do different things in the nurse's office as well in the classroom. To start of the term, I continued my field experience at the nurses office at Lincoln working with Holly, and Shelly. This term it started to get cold outside so multiple kids came in with different reasons. Lots of kids came in with colds and sore throats. She sent a lot of kids home with fevers and bad stomach aches as well. She explained to me that during this time of the year lots of kids will get sick because of the weather so we should be expecting multiple kids to get sick. During …show more content…
I was assigned to be in Mrs. Hinson’s 3rd grade class at Lincoln Elementary. On the first day all of the kids were excited to meet me. I am over in their classroom during the Math period. I enjoy math so this was perfect for me. On my first day they took a test so it was pretty quite the whole time. Mrs. Hinson had me walk around to see if anyone had a question. Throughout my time in the classroom I have had a lot of fun getting to know the kids and make relationships with them. It was kind of cute because Mrs. Hinson told them that they could call me Bell. When one of them would have a question or need my help they would say Mrs. Bell. There were some days it was so cold they had inside recess and I would be there for the end of recess and play games with them, and they loved that. I also helped Mrs. Hinson a lot by sorting papers, checking homework and cutting names tags. When the kids are working on homework during that time I’m the one who collects all the papers and checks their names off to see who’s done. I hope I was great help to Mrs. Hinson and all the
During my first few weeks, I met a student named Joseph. He towered over me at 6-foot-4 and weighing 300 pounds. At first, I didn't know what to expect from him.I was surprised to learn he had failed the 9th grade twice and with this being his third try he was in the same grade as his younger brother, Jason. Joe and I became friends fast. I was treated differently because of my skin color but Joe did not judge me. Through students chit-chatter, I learned Joe was very popular and on the football team but had unexpectedly quit his first year. Joe struggled with his classes especially in English and Mathematics. One day in English, another kid was struggling to read a passage aloud, the classroom was filled with snickers and the teacher made the poor kid continue. After class, Joe comforted the kid and made him smile. That was his talent,, he had the ability to make people feel better.
A Training Guide for College Tutors and Peer Educators by Sally Lipsky defines the role and importance of peer tutors’ on college campuses, the importance of promoting active learning, how to incorporate critical thinking and questioning skills, assessing students’ learning, collaborative learning and group work. Furthermore, this book defines tutoring as a proactive process, the value of diversity and students, online assistance, and a summary of effective peer lead sessions. One of the major strengths of this book is the learning activities throughout to assist peer tutors with their tutees. For example, the activity in Chapter 2 (Promoting Active Learning) has what the tutor may potentially hear
During this term it has really helped me to grow because this is the term have been able to refine my clinical and leadership skills. It has also helped in patient management with multiple clients by at least meeting all their needs. It has also helped me greatly in my decision making skills which are very crucial for a nurse in clinical set up. It has helped me putting into practice all that have learnt. I have also learnt different professional ethics that have helped me to know what is expected of
The occupations that I have chosen to analyze using the three elements for this assignment are paraprofessional, what I am currently, and a teacher, what I am going to college to become. Teachers and paraprofessionals work side by side, collaborate, plan, and share many of the same experiences. However, paraprofessionals are often not treated as equals and has created some ethical judgement regarding treatment of the paraprofessionals from other teachers and administrators in the business of education. I want to use this assignment as an opportunity to distinguish the true professional using the elements designed for this course.
People’s lives are changed every day by their actions and experiences. This past summer, I participated in a community service project, an experience that opened my eyes in many ways. I was a volunteer at the County Memorial Hospital. In my time as a volunteer at the hospital, I was able to meet patients and staff members from all over the world and learn about their life experiences. Listening to all of their stories has made me truly appreciate everything which I have.
Parasocial relationships are one-sided friendships that are formed in which one person is acknowledged, but the other person is unaware of the other’s existence. Some people develop these relationships to compensate for the lack of activity in their social lives, and other form these bonds because of pure admiration or respect. Regardless of the reason, parasocial relationships can be formed by people of all ages- from infants to adults- and are motivated by the increasing use of technology.
Approachable. Enthusiastic. Relatable. Unique. Responsible. Passionate. Knowledgeable. All of the listed characteristics are how I would define a Teen PEP peer educator. A Teen PEP peer educator acts as a role model, someone to influence the decisions in which you choose to make. In being a role model, a Teen PEP peer educator should be motivated and personable. Therefore, a student can follow in their footsteps. Yes, a Teen PEP peer educator should be an educator and a role model, but also somebody who can easily be approached, like a friend. A friend who can give you advice on life-changing decisions, listen to your problems, and comfort you through rough times. Teen PEP peer educators are those in the student body who portray the epitome
In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on”- Robert Frost. Numerous might say a teenager won’t have many personal experiences, but I don’t see that to be true. Experiences don’t have to be an event that stands out to anyone else but yourself. As a golfer, I enjoy being on the golf course as much as possible, so therefore I applied at Edgewood country club golf course as a summer helper. With a few connections I felt extra confident and was ready for my interview. Rapidly I was hired and trained the same day. First, multiple of summers ago I was hired on as full time summer help at the Edgewood country club golf course. At the course I suffered exhausting days such as 7:00am to occasionally 10:00pm depending on
Social facilitation, also known as the audience effect, is the tendency to act or perform differently when surrounded by others than when they are alone. Studies have shown that people tend to perform better when doing a simple or well-rehearsed task rather than complex or new ones. These two articles discuss the phenomena of social facilitation and how it affects different situations.
Thousands of homeless animals are looking for forever homes in America. Volunteering is a great way to give to your community and socialize the animals at the shelters. Working with dogs and cats that have not had good starts in their lives helps them trust again. It helps animals get over the trauma they have had before they went to the shelter. Socializing makes the animal more adoptable and they are given a chance to get forever homes. Volunteer at your local humane society 's and help out the animals like I have worked with in shelters.

Bonnie the secretary introduced me to my new teacher. As Mrs. Bonnie was leaving the room, my new teacher Mrs. Evaheart introduced me to the class. As I stared at the class I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed. I wanted to go back to my old school where I had friends, knew almost everyone, a place where I didn’t feel lonesome, a place anywhere but here. As I saw each and every one of my new classmates faces the utter dread that I felt slowly began to fade as I saw a familiar face. Everything was great and I spend a great eight years. I was a good student in all of my natural science classes, especially in Biology and Math classes. I was in contact with many of my school friends and teachers in every of our school activities. I still remember playing soccer for our school team when I was thirteen-years-old. Actually, I still play soccer and I play awesome, but I don’t want to be a player. In addition, my elementary school life was great and successful eight years for me. I had a great respect and personal admiration how our school teachers, stuff workers, and directors treated us especially, our educational manager, Mr. Belay Amara, because he treated everyone like his own son or daughter. He was a great gentleman and I really admire him for what he has
