In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on”- Robert Frost. Numerous might say a teenager won’t have many personal experiences, but I don’t see that to be true. Experiences don’t have to be an event that stands out to anyone else but yourself. As a golfer, I enjoy being on the golf course as much as possible, so therefore I applied at Edgewood country club golf course as a summer helper. With a few connections I felt extra confident and was ready for my interview. Rapidly I was hired and trained the same day. First, multiple of summers ago I was hired on as full time summer help at the Edgewood country club golf course. At the course I suffered exhausting days such as 7:00am to occasionally 10:00pm depending on …show more content…
Also, being able to work with people I already knew made me feel comfortable. As an employee, I got to assist with many golf tournaments and see many elite players that I looked up to as a young golfer. Being around what I loved making working not so bad with a good amount of free time. I was allowed to go out for lunch and still was being paid while I was gone. Work around all adults and tending to them made me realize that age is just a number. I was respected by everyone around even being the youngest. Even with such a great job it had its downsides. Being there all day was not great, but the paycheck was great. Even making tips as well. As a sixteen year old on the financial side I was doing great. Another upside was with the course being private I was allowed to play whenever I want and bring others along. The course is considered this course was one of the elites in the state it was truly a privilege. Then, the summer before my senior year I had arranged plans to start working at the golf course again for the summer months. After granting my boss a phone call telling him when I could start in the summer, he told me that my assistants was no longer needed there, but would call if he needed …show more content…
My mom hounded me for weeks to start applying places because summer jobs would fill up quickly. I then learned that Kroger was hiring for many positions, so I applied and then a few days later I got a phone call to come in for an interview. The day of my interview I was very nervous because I didn’t know what to expect and this was the first true interview I had ever had. I went in for my interview and after a few minutes my nerves disappeared because I just needed to be myself, I received word on the spot that I was hired at the Kroger on Oakwood. The next couple of days I enjoyed my freedom of summer, knowing that soon my summer was coming to a hold. My first day finally arrived and I was very excited because I was about to start this new chapter in my life. My first day I was not sure what to anticipate. Working in such a populated area I soon learned there would not be any free time. Next, while working at Kroger I learned many responsibilities and made many new friends. In the beginning, I only planned for this to be a summer job, I learned otherwise as school started back they agreed to keep me for a while longer, and still wake me during school at least until basketball
When I started golfing, it wasn’t serious at all, it was just something to go and have a great time with. My dad and I would go out on the course and spend the day out there, but it wasn’t just playing golf: we would eat snacks that we bought from the store, we would obviously play
My first week of employment for summer help was very informational. The start out position is front end cashier. This is the typical last sales rep you will encounter before exiting the store after your purchase. We practiced our log in hours procedure, how to scan items, accept food stamps along with coupons and finally how to cash out a customer using a credit card, debit card or a personal check. When the first day of live action came, our trainer supervised over us we tendered the customers. At the end of the five and a half hour shift, I had cleaned out my register and handed it in to the accounting office. The following day at work my supervisor had told me that I had my till accounted for exactly. That sense of completion was motivation from there on out.
At this driving range I remember my first ever memories of playing golf. At first I found golf way too frustrating for me and I wasn’t patient at all. I would always get mad when I missed or hit
Throughout my final ten weeks at my placement, I have grown and overcome so many obstacles. I have accomplished a wide range of skills since the beginning and have been improving on them as I gained experience. At my placement as a student nurse, I have gained a lot of confidence, skills, knowledge and experiences that have helped me act and work in a professional way. All the experiences I have had during the ten weeks of my student years have helped me in shaping me into a professional.
This may be a far cry to my circumstance, but personally this is the pain that I felt the day I got the call. In all high school and summer months I had great success on the golf course. I dominated golf tournaments through the years. When it came time to sit down and figure out where I wanted to play golf at,
Imagine yourself as a teenager, how it would feel to have your first job? For a teenager like me having a job means that you have marked your transition from childhood to adulthood. It also means that you are independent and do not have to rely entirely on your family for money. During the summer I made several hundred dollars a week by working. Getting my paycheck every two weeks felt so rewarding because I was making money on my own.
Golf would take me on a mental and physical journey that I had never expected. Through the years golf wasn’t just a sport to me, golf was life. I would be out playing, practicing, and learning every single day. If I wasn’t on the course I was at home studying swings, reading golf books, or watching professional tournaments. After
Brick walls are always going to show up in our lives to prove to us how badly we want something. One brick wall that I have faced in my life has to do with when I was younger and played softball. I was the newest member of the team and I had never played the sport before. I was always interested in watching softball, and finally decided to play on a recreational team with my close friend. All of the other girls had played for a few years already, and had grasped the skill. I on the other hand, was just learning all of the skills and wasn’t the best. Each practice, I would really try hard to play at the same skill level as all of the other girls, but it was hard to instantly be good at something new. Eventually, the games started to begin and
Once upon a time their 4 girls names Lina, Quinn, Rachel, Molly is living in California. All girls were having fun at Quinn's sleepovers. Rachel, were telling scary stories and all the girls was scare. Quinn though it was a good Idea to go bake cookies and the girls went to the kitchen and bakes lots of cookies. After they were done Molly threw a pillow to Lina. The girls had a pillow fight and it was fun after that the girls were tired so they all said good night and went to sleep. It was the middle of the night and Molly was thirsty she went to the kitchen and she heard a scream. Molly went to look where was the screaming was coming from. Molly followed the scream and she knew it was Lina. Molly was calling Lina's name out loud and Lina was screaming " Molly helps ah". " Lina, Lina" said Molly. Molly went to wake the girls up and the girls was worried.
During that time I lived in Mississippi and MJGA was a golf organization where usually the best golf players in the state play. The first MJGA tournament I was so anxious and terrified of failing, I made myself sick. I was so ill I could barely hold my bad on my shoulders. Also I was having trouble keeping up with the other players and completely butcher my shots and ended up having the highest score. That day I was so overwhelmed with embarrassment that I did not want to show my face at another tournament ever again. My dad reassure me and said I should try again and that you only fail when you stop trying. I played another tournament, failed. Then 3 more and they all end up with me failing. By my sophomore, I wanted to stop trying. I wanted to stop trying and accept failure. Even though I made the high school golf team when I was in seventh grade, I could never compare with the players who were actually recognized as the best. Eventually my dad told me I should stick to school and hope colleges would accept me for my grades. That golf should just be a pastime. I was turned away from the one person that told me to keep trying. I was lost, for that the majority of my life contains playing rounds of golf, especially with my
We adopted Karma one month ago with the intention of her being a Service Animal for my daughter, who has a heart condition. The ‘breeder’ assured me that Karma was up to date on all her shots and in pristine health. I asked about her parents’ health history, especially hips. The breeder assured us that her parents’ hips had been checked and cleared, as well as Karma’s.
Feeling the waves crash against the edge of my little Butterfly and lapping over the sides onto me, I flew through the water. I held the ropes and rudder securely in my hands as I aimed straight for the sailboat ahead of me and, beyond the other boat, the buoy. All was going well when suddenly a wind gust came in, and I knowingly kept the sails sheeted in with the intent of getting back into the race. Despite struggling to keep control over the boat, I felt the sail tip and plummet into the water below. I fell over backwards into the refreshing water as I watched my competitors sail on. This happened again and again and I am pretty sure I set a new record for the most capsizes in a Camp Michigania teen regatta. Ever. Period.
One morning I woke up and got ready to go to the park. I wanted to find a sport that was fun and would help me get in shape. When I arrived at the park I tried several different sports. I would have to try playing different sports to find out which one is going to be my favorite. I like a sport that offers me enough exercise to stay fit and doesn't cause pain in my muscles.
I was only seventeen when I started working. I lived in a very small city that I downtown area full of different stores. During the summer times, most of the stores downtown would post job listings looking for young individuals who wanted to work during the summer season. I decided that I wanted to gain some work experience and decided to apply in one of the stores. The store I worked in was called Kid City; it was a clothing store for children. I enjoyed the job I had in the beginning; all I did was open up boxes and placed the clothes in the racks so the store associates could hang them up on the store racks. I enjoyed the job because I did not have to deal with the customers that came into the store. However, I was then moved to the front of the store to
