Title: Pedophile and/or Predator Topic: Pedophilia Subject: The virtuous pedophile The word pedophilia comes from the Greek words "paidos", translated as child and "philia" meaning love. A pedophile is any person who has sexual preference towards children. The first person to study pedophilia was Richard Krafft-Ebing, a German sexologist. In 1886, he wrote the book Psychopatia Sexualis, where pedophilia was first recognized as psychological issue. Today, some members of the LGBTQIA+ and the pedophile community reject this definition and argue that instead it is a sexual preference. It's very difficult to distinguish between these definitions. If it’s a sexual preference it cannot be cured, only treated with medications and therapy. If it’s a mental illness that can cause harm to others like akin to substance abuse, it can be treated or even possibly cured. The scientific community regards pedophilia as a …show more content…

Pedophiles have a future that includes medication to limit sexual arousal, therapy to cope with their struggles, and possibly digitally designed simulated child pornography in order to reduce child sexual abuse. We should also reflect on our hypocritical judgement of pedophiles considering of the way society sexualizes children in the media industry, modeling industry, and numerous pedophile rings from Hollywood to the Vatican.
