In the movie Run Lola Run, a lot of editing concepts were use more than once. One of them that I specifically notice was parallel editing. For example when Lola leaves her father’s work empty handed, she begins to run to meet Mani. As time begin to run out you see three different shots on the screen of Mani, Lola and the ticking clock. You can hear the ticking clock as Lola ask Mani to wait for her. Although they’re together on the screen, they are apart by a few seconds. You can see that when Lola gets close to the supermarket and you see a long shot of Mani. Another concept was the graphic match at the end of the first timeline. When the red bag was falling in the air, to Lola red phone falling. Also there were a lot of eye line match. For
example when Mani was at the phone booth. When he look off the screen and we see that he was looking at the clock on the wall of the supermarket.
However, on the whole Ghost World shows a great deal of editing skill. Editing is not only used in the film as a method of joining events and creating a convincing timeline, but is also used as a tool to develop characters and emphasize different themes in the story. However, because the entire film is not treated with the same attention to detail, weak edit points stand out like eyesores. Yet, while hindering its overall effectiveness as a film, it is also this possession of both successful and unsuccessful editing that makes Ghost world such an excellent example of what a difference good editing can make in a production.
Run Lola Run, is a German film about a twenty-something woman (Lola) who has 20 minutes to find $100,000 or her love (Manni) will be killed. The search for the money is played through once with a fatal ending and one would think the movie was over but then it is shown again as if it had happened ten seconds later and changed everything. It is then played out one last time. After the first and second sequence, there is a red hued, narrative bridge. There are several purposes of those bridges that affect the movie as a whole. The film Run Lola Run can be analyzed by using the four elements of mise-en scene. Mise-en-scene refers to the aspects of film that overlap with the art of the theater. Mise-en-scene pertains to setting, lighting, costume, and acting style. For the purpose of this paper, I plan on comparing the setting, costume, lighting, and acting style in the first red hued, bridge to that of the robbery scene. Through this analysis, I plan to prove that the purpose of the narrative bridge in the film was not only to provide a segue from the first sequence to the second, but also to show a different side of personality within the main characters.
Choosing a movie, do you take notice to whether it is a Director’s cut, the original version, or simply grab the chosen movie and pop it in taking no notice of which version is in hand? Is there even a difference? Because a director’s cut is simply a version of a movie with various cuts made by the director’s choosing, if watching both versions of Ridley Scott’s, “Blade Runner,” the subtle differences in several of the scenes will become apparent, although the scene layout and plot remains the same throughout both versions.
In the film Strictly Ballroom, the director Baz Luhrman uses many different film techniques to influence the portrayal and development of characters. Costume and makeup is used as a vital technique to show the audience the characters’ personalities and also the development of some characters. Camera angles and lighting is another technique that is used to exaggerate the characters’ personalities and the scenes they are in. Luhrman also uses character behaviors as an effective technique in portraying each characters’ personality.

Run Lola Run is an excellent 80-minute German film written/directed by Tom Tykwer and edited by Mathilde Bonnefoy that has a four part "What if" style genre. The movie just throbs with kinetic energy mixed with a case of Monster Energy Drinks. It is so fast-paced that it is like a roller coaster that is unstable with each twist and turn. Run Lola Run will captivate your mind and spirit with beautiful and free form flashes of anticipation, panic, passion, desperation, hesitation, fear and fervor that when all combined is quite invigorating and will significantly exhausts its viewers. The formula editor Mathilde Bonnefoy uses to manage the complex rhythms in this film not only dazzles viewers with the pacing, but it also maintains an extensive focus on what Lola is doing and why she is doing it.

The techniques that stood out to me are the ones that are listed above and they make the film more interesting and eye catching . Making me want to watch it more and sitting on the edge of my seat.Techniques such as flash forward, flashback , medium shot , birds eye view , animation and cross cutting made this film the best it could be.

Without editing, this film would not be able to present a good message to the audience. In the anime, Attack on Titan, the director is able to create and blend different master plots: vengeance by visual editing that places flashbacks at important moments inside the story and camera angles; hero’s quest by visual cuts and transitions from different character points of view; underdog by changing camera angles. Finally, but not least temptation through the use of sound editing with actions scenery and coloring. Narrative elements used by the director inside a film can change the master plot at any critical moment inside a story, elaborating a different story that can vary depending on our way of interpreting and analyzing the world around us. The director may have a general message that he wants to convey through narrative elements as it was previously stated, but we as the audience have the last word in what the film represents even though we obtain the main idea through the manipulation of the narrative elements used by the director.
One of the first points that Johnson brings up is Multi Threading. Since the early 2000’s, many shows have taken advantage of this device. Shows such as “The Sopranos”, “24”, and “Lost” all take advantage of multi threading. Just to prove the point that this is what the people want, all three of these shows were very popular. In fact, they all lasted for at least 6 seasons each, with “24” going for 8 seasons. The idea of multi threading is to create multiple plots all going on in a single episode. Yet, at the end of the episode usually all of the plots become tied into each other. This causes the viewer to think ahead of time. It leaves you wondering what is going to happen later in the episode, or even what could happen down the line. Often, so many subtle things are said that the viewer may not even realize what was said or done was important until an event occurs.
