33 Years in Paradise

Florida Fall

The sun’s still shining bright and hot,
You’d never know that Fall is here;
The leaves turn amber in some sun-burnt spot,
That presages the changing of the year,
From blazing, humid, Summer-heated days
To the warm and drier ambiance of Fall.

Awaiting breathlessly the cooler weather,
We yet enjoy this lovely Florida Fall;
Not anticipating cold with any kind of fervor,
Yet relishing cooler breezes, et al.
Content in basking in the sun-drenched days of Autumn,
We eagerly await sensuous Summer’s siren call.

Florida Winter

It’s Winter now—I’m sad.
The water’s too cold to swim—that depresses me.
Oh, some do, I know—it’s Florida.

What a spectacular slice of Paradise this Florida Coast!

My imagination isn’t refined enough to tell it all,
Nor my eyesight good enough to see every nuance of it;
My vocabulary’s faulty, the proper words I can’t recall,
I can only try my best to describe it, bit by bit:
The soaring oaks, the majestic palm trees, oh, so tall,
The poignant panorama when the sights are all moonlit;
One feels so mighty powerful—and yet so very small,
Gazing upward, heaven-ward, as on the beach I sit:
The sea, the sands, the sky—I cannot make the call—
To extol the virtues of this place or say which is my favorite.

West Coast of Florida
The West Coast of Florida is the loveliest place
That I know I have ever beheld;
My thanks to God for living here
Is exuberantly heartfelt!

Palm trees silhouetted against the bright sky,
Their delicate fronds unfurled;
Golden sunshine reflected in water so clear
That you feel you can see the world.
