Students leap into leadership
ATLANTA – Georgia State University junior Azaria Moore was a participant in the organization Panther LEAP during the Fall 2017 semester. [Set up Moore's situation]
Moore is one of the many Georgia State students that have gone through the Panther LEAP program and was either offered a position through Georgia State Housing or volunteering for the community. Panther LEAP provides students and mentors the resources and skills needed to become not only a better leader but also a resource to others around campus. For example, when someone completes the program, they are given a chance to work in University Housing. [More detail on LEAP]
Around 85 percent of students who started in the program, went through the entire program and completed their journey. With completing Panther LEAP, it gives the individual a different perspective on how to view themselves as a

“During my time involved in the program, I was fortunate enough to make several friends who lead me to many community involvement opportunities and also lead to a more diverse resume.”
Students like Moore have the chance to go through Panther LEAP and make a change in their leadership skills and also finding a way to take what they learned and use it for a higher purpose.
“Panther LEAP has given me the tools for successful navigation through all of my leadership positions and endeavors,” Moore says. “I now feel more confident handling a variety of situations from resolving conflicts with the organizations to my time management abilities.”

Throughout the years of being a student at Council Rock, I have come to the realization of what a true leader is. A leader is not someone that just plans events, collects money, or shows up to meetings. Rather, this is someone that has a true connection with their peers, and has unmatched passion for what they do. With this, I can confidently say that since seventh grade, as a young adult, I have been shaped into an individual that fits these traits. Since that time, I have been involved in student government,
I believe Clark Atlanta University will prepare me for future leadership by creating and building new traits within me. I want the opportunity to prove that I can become someone significant, even with the guidance of my peers. By attending Clark Atlanta University, I will be able to learn the skills that a leader should possess, whether within my classes or within my community. During my junior year of high school I was involved in the “B.E.E. Club” which is a mentorship for young ladies that helps support freshman female students to achieve their goals. I was also actively involved in the “Fashion and Design Club” which advocates personal development through leadership, social etiquette, and corporate skill to build confidence, and poise.
“Into the Wild” by Jon Krakauer, is a very noteworthy story of a young man, Christopher McCandless, who tragically ventures alone into the wilderness. It should be pointed out that the story is quite original and the main character is full of contradictions. At any rate, it is quite difficult to understand his real motives that influenced his decision to abandon the civilized world and head for the wilderness where he turned to be unable to survive. This is why it is very important to define the major factors that forced the main character to take the fatal decision.
When I found out I qualified to be a candidate for the NJHS, I knew I had to take this chance. This group is made up of people who depict leadership, character, citizenship, academic success, and service and I would love to join. These characteristics wouldn't just be valuable for a candidate to have, but for everyone to have to exceed in life. If I were to be in the National Junior Honor Society, it would give me an opportunity to ameliorate my future and motivate me to do better.
Charlie Parker, a legendary jazz musician, was born on August 29, 1920 in Kansas City, Kansas. He grew up an only child, and later dropped out of school to start a music career. He created Bebop with Dizzy Gillespie and together they made a couple of albums. Near the end of his career, he started using drugs and having some mental problems. At one point, he even tried to kill himself by drinking iodine. His health deteriorated and he eventually died as a result of his drug abuse. He is best known for being a great musical artist and for developing Bebop. He is often remembered for saying “Don’t play the saxophone, let it play you.” (Source 1)
The Black Panther Party is an African-American revolutionary organization which emerged from the 1960s. Edgar Hoover as the "greatest threat to the internal security of the United States" (Jones, 366).

In building leadership capacity it is important to ensure that there is broad-based skillful participation. We want the students, parents, community, and staff to be participants. This is important because it allows for staff to take responsibility for the growth and development for not only themselves but for their peers in doing the work of leadership. It is helpful to have the community working together towards the common goal as opposed to ...
All through the ages legends have been born to take the light of greatness with them. These legends have paved the road for others to follow in their steps, but only a few have become gods. Worshipped and idolized by many they have captured the hearts and minds of their followers, so they may submit to the will of their greatness. A day came when a new breed of legends was born, amongst them was Brian Scalabrine AKA ‘The White Mamba’. His greatness shined on the basketball court, his stats were unheard of, his jump shot the envy of his competitors and his contribution in the NBA finals divine. When he choose to hang up his shoes he was known as the greatest basketball player the white man has ever produced.

Lead by Serving My leadership is based in the philosophy of service to others by putting those I lead first to empower them to exceed beyond their own expectations. People are inspired to succeed by connection, community, collaboration, motivation and trust. The relationships we establish with divers people by understanding their values, gifts and abilities along with the significant moments that transformed their lives allows them to grow personally and professionally. Everyone has experienced crucible moments, “a transformative experience in which an individual comes to a new and or altering sense of identity” (Bennis, & Thomas, 2007).
