When we are first introduced to the character of Pam, she is a shy assertive but amiable, strong woman, but at the same time she lacks self-confidence and courage, but she is also the one we see grow the most throughout the show. At the start of the show, Pam wears simple clothes and clips her curly hair halfway back to express her gender. In the early seasons, she's learning to take responsibility for her life. Pam’s a receptionist at Dunder- Mifflin a struggling paper company inventing ways not to die of boredom. Jim is a dynamic character because he is a runaway slave. Also at first he didn’t really want to risk anythings, no adventures for Jim. I feel that Huck has been influencing Jim with taking risk and starting new adventures.
In Sue Monk Kidd’s novel, The Secret Life of Bees, Kidd indirectly characterizes T. Ray as a malicious person in order to emphasize his role as the villain. For example, Kidd demonstrates the cruel personality of the speaker with his speech and appearance, “...I looked at his face. It was despising and full of anger. ‘As long as you live under my roof, you’ll do what I say!’ he shouted...” (26). T. Ray is the abusive father of the protagonist, Lily. He often shouts and treats his child with cruelty, even linking Lily’s misery to himself with the words, “As long as you live under my roof, you’ll do what I say!” Kidd consistently fills Lily with fear and danger around T. Ray to emphasize that he is a source of
Writing a story is pretty difficult. Writing a short story is even harder, there is so much that has to be accomplished; in both commercial and literary fiction! The plot, the structure, whether it has a happy, unhappy, or indeterminate ending. There must be artistic unity, chance, coincidence, rising action, climax, falling action. Most importantly there must be characterization. Characters make the story! “anyone can summarize what a person in a story has done, but a writer needs considerable skill and insight into human beings to describe convincingly who a person is” [page 168]
The character Amory Blaine in “This Side of Paradise” by F. Scott Fitzgerald is a protagonist that reflects the confusion that is often faced in life, especially for college aged students, which happens to be around the age that Blaine is at. A lot of this novel shows Amory growing up, and trying to reach new steps in his life, and it is often shown how he tries to better himself. Amory Blaine is constantly in a state of becoming instead of being because he is simply trying to create the best life possible for himself, but seems to be a bit confused on how to achieve that.
Video game playing has become an increasingly popular interest for many people. Every video game is unique in its own way and how it is shaped to the audience at hand. With all the video game playing, this gives rise to possible concerns as to how the media portrays such aspects in a game. One debate about video games that is an increasingly popular subject to talk about is how gender is portrayed in video games for both men and women. In many video games, women are shown as having a passive role, while men hold a more dominant role. In the video game Tomb Raider, Lara Croft is a character this is being talked about because she is the main character and is a female. Previous video games have created the media representation that females are
The Crucible was the turning point in literature and in history. It showed how people were convicted with only a minute amount of evidence. The only thing that would have caused a person to be convicted was if people went into hysterics. However, for someone to be accused of using witchcraft, someone else has to say he or she had seen them practicing it or they were the only person who could see it. The trials caused some of the characters to learn new attributes about themselves. Elizabeth Proctor is more reserved. John Proctor, on the other hand, is more prideful; whereas, Reverend Hale is more confident. These three characters go through their own personal journeys and uncover the person within them beneath the surface, which in turn broadcasts their true identity to the audience.
Sarny is a great, peaceful minded person, and she sure did a lot of things that other people can’t do. For example, in the novel Sarny stated, “ i worked at the chain...was a need” (p.22). Sarny had a peaceful minded thinking, she chose not to fight back to the world’s evil, no matter what extreme or harsh thing they have done to her. Like the Wallers, he treated Sarny horribly, even though Sarny recollected these painful memories she had at the Wallers, she chose not to say anything. It was already happened, no matter what you do, things can’t change. Stay silence sometimes would be a good choice, not every evil, hardships will be solved even if you fought back. Furthermore, Sarny also has the quality of Sympathy, as she stated in the novel, “ Not for...was winning” (p.18).

Meyers Leonard, an NBA player for the Portland Trail Blazers, helped his team beat the Memphis Grizzlies by scoring 13 points and collecting 13 rebounds in one game, but he would have given it all back to have overcome Alzheimer’s and the effect it has had on his family. In a recent visit to watch Meyers play live, he and his grandmother Rita Douma sat down to talk with Lesley Yanak, Director of Marketing for Koelsch Senior Communities and Chrissy Hall, Executive Director of Silver Creek Inn Memory Care Community in Mesa Arizona, about the disease that took the life of his grandfather Butch in January 2016.
In the last 5 weeks, we have learned about personalities, learning styles, temperaments, and emotional intelligence. For the learning styles, we took a personality test only to find out what kind of personality trait we have. Temperaments are the way we learn how we want to handle things in life. Emotional intelligence is how we learn to read each other, and learning how and when to say something to diffuse a confrontation. There are four different kinds of temperament’s. There is analyzers, supporters, creators, and directors (Bethel University, 2006). Analyzers like for things to be organized and dedicated to their work. Dedication is a great attribute for an analyzer. Supporters take things
This anecdote is a reflection of Holden’s personality. All of the literary devices link back to how Holden is as a person. We learn more about Holden’s contradicting and depressing personality. He contradicts himself by calling the man that carried his bags not very intelligent and terrible, when he said that he wasn’t the smart one in the family. He also links back old age to depression. Ever since Allie died, Holden’s personality has drastically changed. Being expelled from school and passing only his English class was just a taste of what was to come. He was bipolar, which really didn’t help at all. Allie’s death had a huge impact on Holden’s life. Holden’s contradicting personality reflects his bipolar issues. When people are bipolar they
Jim Halpert, a paper salesman from Dunder Mifflin, showed up in my life as a role model when I was just eight years old. Of course staying up later than the average eight year old’s curfew was something looked to as absurd, but watching the hit television show, The Office, on Sunday nights with my parents I made some of the best memories as an eight year old. Jim Halpert starts out in the series as a paper salesman at Dunder Mifflin in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He slowly falls in love with the receptionist Pam Beesley. Before Jim can ask

When we talk about individual personality, we are talking about a blend of traits that makes a person unique. It can be defined as the dynamic composition of an individual including systems- psychological and physical- that represents his or her behaviour and thought. According to idiographic theorists, each has a unique mental organization and that some characteristics are only possessed by only one person. Due to this uniqueness in traits, it becomes hard to compare one person with another. There are several theories that have been developed to explain personality. Some of these include Psychoanalytic theories, Behaviourist theories, Social cognitive theories and Humanistic theories. This paper will use two of these approaches (Behaviourist
