On turning 40 years old and becoming a parent for the first time, things I think I think...
* Do people seek out a defined future, or just kind of know which section of the book they'd like to end up at?
* For my 9th birthday I wanted a go-kart, a computer and a robot. The robot would drive the go-kart in the summer parade with me in the backseat typing on my computer. 31 years later.
* Patience can go further and affect more aspects of life than any other trait.
* I carry so many of my father's tendencies. We both seek recognition but dismiss it when offered. Why?
* It's years later and we still act as we're being chased by police on cable news or singing our hearts away in a popularity contest.
* You can't get anywhere without losing.

And you will have to lose again. * When first learning what it means to be in a relationship anger stems from not being right for each other, of having to admit failure. * Time is a construct that allows something to take place between a beginning and an end. * The sooner you can learn to make yourself happy the sooner you can get on with it. * Related: It is liberating to go to a movie by yourself. To dine by yourself. It's joyous to have company. * John Gardner said every choice made, whether character traits or scene or style or point of view affects the story, in essence subtracts something or adds a question that needs an answer.
* Develop a system. Make the system efficient. Add tasks and repeat process. To stay on top of tasks is to open opportunities for additional tasks. Prioritize. Does everything merit the same attention, time, effort and work.
* To learn is to focus on something and explore its aspects fully. It's not hard to do. The commitment is hard.
* Don't spend so much time trying to remember who you were. Spend it crafting who you are.
* "Lose Yourself" by Eminem remains my favorite time-to-get-this-done or first-day-of-new-job song.
* Remember to be, not seem to be.
* Don't build off a vision you can't control.
* Sharing what you've learned is important. Learning from others might be moreso.
* It's better to be the person who picks up the towels than it is to be the one who leaves garbage all over the place.
* In hindsight didn't y2k offer us a nice economic boost before the bubble burst?
* Related: Are distractions the only difference between feudalism and capitalism?
* In the Big Lebowski, the Dude puts on his sunglasses after he has been judged by
others. * fear lurks underneath a bed of a child. FEAR wrangles the minds of adults. * Writing song lyrics is the single hardest writing exercise I have faced. * Inflation takes on a new meaning when you begin to realize that you actions mean more tomorrow than they did yesterday. * All farewells should be sudden. * Learn just one new word and you have increased your vocabulary. * Your heart grows back after it's been ripped out. It takes time though for you to have enough to give to someone else. * Related: Dreams come true when the heart is finally open to losing everything. * Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to realize what you are doing is right. * Without want there is no fear. An abundance of want means fear might translate into a future purchase. * It's important to remember that each of us are alive for the first time. * Work overtime to find a career that excites you. Or at least does't require you to spend time in traffic. * So much is possible in this world. First you need to get lucky. Second stay grateful. Finally do the work. * Kindness is the most important currency. * If someone is willing to take you along on an adventure you best stand up and go. * If left trying to get back to the place where my quarters ran out I can be bored, boorish and rude.
As Zig Ziglar once said, "If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you." Basically, Ziglar is emphasizing how learning can be accomplished, only if you put your mind to it. In “Learning (Your First Job),” Dr. Robert Leamnson shares his strong belief of beginning students entering the post-secondary education. Leamnnson discusses the many ways of learning that can be used in college, such as studying, notes, assignments, and exams. Leamnson continuously discusses how no one will learn unless they want to. Learning is a biological process that relies on the brain. Just like how our bodies need maintenance, the brain does too. College is a place where you learn things that help you later. Leamnson mentions how students are responsible for succeeding in college not by just showing up, but by putting in effort towards the classes they are taking. In order to succeed in the learning of the post-secondary education process, students should be aware of how to make notes, understand what they are studying, and take assignments seriously.
Have you ever reached success? If the answer is yes, then you probably have had support from family or friends along the way. In “Wonder Children” this theme was crucial to the success of both Maria Anna and Wolfgang. In the passage both of Maria Anna's parents called her a “prodigy” which encouraged her, and from a young age taught her how to play instruments. Wolfgang was at this point driven by his sister's success, which all started from a young age. The dad definitely played a huge role in both Maria Anna's, and Wolfgang's success as musicians. In the Passage “The Family's first prodigy” Maria Anna became even more successful, and in a way overshadowed her brother Wolfgang, but his kind actions and words, helped his sister achieve her goals. And later in the passage he had his time to shine. Support from family or friends can separate a person from achieving their goals, or stumbling under the pressure.
When I was just three years old I was rushed into the ER. I had just received a gash on the side of my head just above my right eye. It’s cause—lack of patience. You see, patience is the cause of virtually anything that transpires in this world. It’s what causes problems and solutions and gets the timing on things just right. This is why I believe in patience. If I didn’t, well, I’d just get the consequences.
By learning, an individual understands a certain skill or task or they simply monitor and watch another individual to see how something is done. For example, growing up one might remember learning to ride a bike, learning to read in class, or even learning to cook whether it was by using an Easy Bake oven or using the oven in his/her home. In all of the aforementioned scenarios, an individual started off not knowing how to do something and over time they “learned” to do whatever that something was and now they have a clear understanding and can master that obstacle. Take into account, a child learning to ride a bicycle. A child does not grow up automatically knowing how to ride a bicycle. That child has to go through trial and errors, first by riding a tricycle or a bike with training wheels attached, then upgrading to a bike
Learning is something that no one can avoid. Somethings in life can not pass by with a person learning a new concept or idea. Learning takes place when a person's standing in line at the grocery store, sitting in a classroom with a teacher, or just driving by a something that catches their attention. This happens all the time when students go on field trips to the zoo or to a science center. The students learn from doing, listening, or even talking about what they saw. People learn with different styles such as a visual learner, an auditory learner, or a kinesthetic learner and each one has its own benefits and downfalls.
First off, my father was kind. He was kind to my mother, my brother, and myself; he would give his time and money just to make us happy. My dad was also kind to his mother and brother by giving them his time and thoughts. My father’s friends also received his kindness because of how much he cared and the favors he gave. Along with being kind, my dad was intelligent. My father’s intelligence showed clearly through the discussions that we had together, and it also showed through his knowledge of music. His memory was outstanding, and it was displayed when he knew an actor’s voice by just a few lines, and when he knew a song by just a few lyrics. The friends and family of my father witnessed his intelligence by losing to him in games and debates, as well as seeing how effortlessly he remembered random facts. My dad’s ideas did great things for my grandmother, who had a hard time around the house. The last and most dominant of my father’s traits was his determination. The determination he displayed at home and work was shown by how he always strived to do the most and best he could do at all times. The friends of my father often saw his determination in how he would not give up until he won the debate, or he was at least recognized with a good point of view. He was not only determined to let them know who he was but to let them know he cared; the happiness of his friends meant a lot to

For someone, who hasn’t taken this class yet, wanting to know what learning is I would say learning is not only knowing something well enough that you can take a test on said subject and do well. Learning is about knowing something to the extent that you can apply it to real life and not just school. As said in Chapter 1.2 of the book, learning is connecting to what you’re experiencing and then making sense of it all. The way I viewed learning at the beginning of class is very different to what I know learning is now. I thought learning was just about studying hard and knowing something well enough that you can pass a test. For me, learning is knowing something and being able to carry that knowledge into life after college.
Learning a first language in childhood is an experience that all normal functioning humans undergo. Learning a second language after childhood, however, is an experience which not everyone attempts or succeeds in. The question of whether learning one’s first language as a child is the same as learning subsequent languages as an adult is one that interests psychologists, scientists and linguists alike. Although in many respects the acquisition process of children learning their first language and adults learning their second, third or fourth language is similar, overall there are striking differences between the manner in which these two groups do so, which mean that the process is not essentially the same across both these groups.

For example, going to school. Some challenges come from trying to understand a difficult subject and dealing with the judgment from others at school. This requires patience because tutoring takes the majority of everyone’s time and can sometimes cause frustration. Having patience and tolerance gives the mindset of working hard and achieving the goal desired. Patience also helps with judgment from others because that judgment can cause discouragement. Having patience will give the mindset of realizing that in the end, all the events and situations happening at the moment, will not matter in the future. In the end, patience will help in giving encouragement and hope that will help overcome the judgment of others. Waiting for something also requires patience and tolerance. In The Most Dangerous Game, Rainsford was trapped on a tropical island and was forced to stay with his life on the line. He managed to come across a man named General Zaroff. General Zaroff was a hunting addict and he loved to hunt humans. Rainsford wanted to get off the island but he had to be patient. Instead of almost getting killed by General Zaroff, he decided to be patient and tolerate or play along with General Zaroff’s little game. This was rewarding for him because Rainsford won the game with flying colors and was able to live. Rainsford was able to leave the island and go back to his normal life by being patient. Having patience was rewarding and he was able to tolerate the time, and the situation, in order for him to escape to his
