Another thing Dana taught me during the critique of my cover letter is that I should be very formal when addressing the person, I am writing to. For example, I should refer to a woman as Ms. Jane Doe and a man as Mr. John Doe. Dana also helped me format a thesis statement in my first paragraph so the next paragraph will have just have examples of why my thesis statement is true. Dana also mentioned that I should think about the kinds of colors I use when formatting my resume. She mentioned this because if I used grey or a light color and the employer prints my resume or cover letter out in black in white those colors on my resume and cover letter won’t show up well. Dana also taught me that my cover letter should be tailored to each company and I should use keywords that the company mentioned in their job description throughout my letter.
