1. Purpose
The purpose of this Operational Readiness Plan (OR plan) is to define in detail the process the Emergency Management and Business Continuity (EBMC) Program team need to undertake to ensure all the required operational deliverables are available, tested and perform as expected and are complete according to standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements.
2. Objectives
The objectives of the plan are to:
• To be a guide to the user, providing clear directions on how to prepare, monitor, test, document and review all the components necessary to guarantee that the EMBC program and by extension NAIT is operationally prepared to respond to any emergency.
• To promote confidence in EMBC Program team has conducted all the necessary

Functional Criteria for example, o Is the technology accomplishing its functions in an acceptable manner o Is the Emergency Management and Business Continuity (EMBC) Program operating at acceptable risk level as a Post -Secondary Institution (PSI) as it relates to safety and health risks
2. Regulatory criteria for example, o Adhering to regulatory, code, and standards both internal and external to NAIT, for example the Emergency Management Act and Bill 30
At its base, operational readiness is the outcome of planning, allocation of resources, training exercising and organizing to build, sustain and improve operational response capabilities based on risk assessment.
Operational Readiness Plan
The OR Plan speaks to what need to be done and by whom, when and how these tasks need to be accomplished. The critical components that guarantee that NAIT is operationally ready and able to response to any emergency or business disruption include people, process/procedures and technology as depicted in figure 1 below.

The goal of 2011 of the National Preparedness Goal, and a month later by the National Preparedness System (NPS). ‘Prepare’, or ‘preparedness’ is a key term here, as is ‘risk’. In order to properly examine the National Preparedness System these terms… (2011 National Preparedness Goal). The National Preparedness Goal can only work in risk management planning with prudency coupled with dispensation of resources at the local levels. Depending on the budgetary issues the financial appropriation might not be enough to sustain a carefully planned risk management. The forefront for the local authorities to mitigate against risk is funding. Of the pro at the community level are the loyalties of its employees of the local government and local community, and on hand resources that amplifies its footprint with the community in making sure that there is an uninterrupted continuation of life. The local government can device a well thought out plan to activate most of its resources when the alarms are sounded of a pending
Introduction The Patient Safety Plan is a program that provides a systematic, coordinated and continuous methodology to the upkeep and upgrading of safety through the founding of mechanisms that support effective responses to definite incidences in an organization work environment. It is also the incorporation of patient safety main concern into new strategy in an organizational functions and services which would lead to continuous positive decrease of risk in the work environment. Patient safety plan is used as a guide to approach optimum safety objectives which involves different departments and disciplines in creating plans, processes and devices that contain the patient care safety activities in a hospital setting (Main Line Health Inc,

Tasked by the ACF, our team of disaster case managers and responders are on the scene within 72 hours of its start. From there, ACF Immediate Disaster Case Management (ACF IDCM) starts meeting with those suffering from the disaster to fully access what is needed for a proper recovery. While tasked by the ACF, the IDCM program is completely self-sufficient while receiving support from BCFS EMD’s Incident Management Team. Through BCFS’ support, the program is provided complete operations, logistics and planning support to meet its
Operational planning uses risk management by identifying resources, possible risks, and actions that should be taken for the operation and by using risk management greater success can be met with less negative consequences (U.S. Department of Homeland Security, 2001, p.9). Exercises that are planned follow a similar manner to that of operational planning focusing on possible risks and resources and provide homeland security professionals with practiced risk management skills (U.S. Department of Homeland Security, 2001, p.9). When disaster or terror strikes in a real world event risk management will always be present in determining the best course of actions and possible hazards that might get in the way of the mission (U.S. Department of Homeland Security, 2001, p.9). The final risk management application involves the research and development stage of homeland security which analysis risks and discovers new solutions to potential issues, this stage also focuses on using superior technology to accomplish homeland security missions (U.S. Department of Homeland Security, 2001,
Over the past 15 years as a nation at war, the Marine Corps has learned the significance of reactiveness and versatility. Expeditionary Force 21(EF21), is a blueprint for the Marine Corps to remodel its forces in order to perform in a multifunctional facet, providing support in any Geographic Combatant Command (GCC). This document delivers the framework to build additional capacity in global response while operating in an environment that is ambiguous in nature. As part of the naval forces, the Marine Corps’ primary responsibility is the “development of amphibious doctrine, tactics, techniques, and equipment.” However, current warfare has proved that war has characteristics that are ever changing and may require the Marine Corps to execute other missions in combat operations, humanitarian aid when disaster strikes, governmental advisement/assistance to officials in other countries, or
Should the military be allowed to utilize performance enhancers? When you see the words, ‘super soldier’, what comes to mind? Captain America or Iron Man? Most would say Captain America because of his dashing looks and the super serum that gave him his powers. However, those at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, or DARPA, would rather go with the more realistic iron man.
The six key planning considerations are as follows: environmental considerations, mission assurance, Force protection, operations, communication synchronization, and facility requirements.
Disaster Recovery Planning is the critical factor that can prevent headaches or nightmares experienced by an organization in times of disaster. Having a disaster recovery plan marks the difference between organizations that can successfully manage crises with minimal cost, effort and with maximum speed, and those organizations that cannot. By having back-up plans, not only for equipment and network recovery, but also detailed disaster recovery plans that precisely outline what steps each person involved in recovery efforts should undertake, an organization can improve their recovery time and minimize the disrupted time for their normal business functions. Thus it is essential that disaster recovery plans are carefully laid out and carefully updated regularly. Part of the plan should include a system where regular training occurs for network engineers and managers. In the disaster recovery process extra attention should also be paid to training any new employees who will have a critical role in this function. Also, the plan should require having the appropriate people actually practice what they would do to help recover business function should a disaster occur. Some organizations find it helpful to do this on a quarterly or semi-annual basis so that the plan stays current with the organization’s needs.
Military operations are often very unpredictable with various degree of uncertainty. They are usually complex in design, involving multilayers planning and preparation with various level of authority. Understand this difficult the army use MDMP, military decision making process, in its planning and preparation for any military operation/mission. In this paper the author will explain the MDMP, describe what occurs in the seven steps of the MDMP, the important of understand it process, how is time divide and manage for the MDMP, and the important of War Games our COAs Military operations are often very unpredictable with various degree of uncertainty. At the beginning of the semester the Operation World (OW) book was a little intimating to me. It was such a large book and all about the world and what goes on in places. I have never been someone who knows things about the world and have never had an interest, but reading Operation World really opened my eyes. Through reading OW I knew of the names of some places, but for the most part I did not even know where these places were or what goes on there. OW gave me insight into all the places we read on and showed me that there is definitely worse problems else where than just here in America. I think that as an American we can get tied up with all the crazy news that goes on here that we forget there are other countries besides us. OW allowed
In order to fully understand the concept of a contingency plan, there are a few aspects which need to be explored. We must first define what a contingency plan is, followed by an explanation of why contingency plans are so valuable. Furthermore, an analysis of the implementation of contingency plans should be performed. Lastly, a comparison of such plans from other industries should be done, in order to comprehend the differences in both purpose and criteria.
Once plans have been developed, an organization must address how management will be accomplishing be those plans. This involves operational plans that must flow from strategy; specify resource, time issues, and commitment of human resources. Operational plans at the lower - levels of the organization, have a shorter time horizon, and are narrower in scope (Bateman, Snell 2003 p.113). A good example of this is Wal-Mart's main strategic goal. It is to provide quality merchandise at an affordable low cost to consumers. Its operational goals focus on efficient logistics requiring technology and inventory management systems to help reduce costs so it can be passed on to the customer. Operational plans are derived from a tactical plan and are aimed at achieving one or more operational goals (Bateman, Snell 2003 p.113).
