Introduction
The Topic I decided on is the socialization of children with no siblings versus the socialization of children with multiple siblings. The first question i had was is there a big difference in which children with siblings and children without siblings mature with their socialization? I investigated whether or not the more siblings you have affects your ability to socialize as you mature. I feel it is important to examine this issue because people are not aware how many children they have can affect how there child socializes with others. I myself am a only child and when i was younger found it difficult socializing with others. I used to not know what to say to other children because i did not have the practice that my peers did. I still find myself sometimes thinking if this is okay to say, or thinking a lot about what to say next in the conversation, or when it is my turn to speak. My topic is clearly more focused towards the Sociology discipline. It is more towards sociology because it examines the way people socialize as they get older/mature. I also examined people's cultural and religious background and looked at that information. That information tells me if the way you were brought up or socialized effects why you have the amount of siblings you do, or effects the how comfortable you are with socializing with people. It is also important for society to examine this because it directly effects everyone. Everyone is either born with no siblings or born with them. So for parents want to make a completely conscious decision on whether they want to have one or multiple children, because it will effect their child’s life greatly. For example if parents of only children allow their kids to observe minor parental ...

...ked for but it was needed. Because at first I only used 50 but i did not have enough only children so I had to survey more people. The potential of my project is endless. I do not know how much further I could take it with my limitations but I believe scientist could take it very far. They could put surveys online, everywhere and they could get thousands of people to do tell them there difficulties socializing and whether they are there or not. It could change society because people could like i said early have all information to make a completely conscious decision on whether or not to have multiple children or not. This data could be used by psychologist in telling them how and why people have the the issues they have emotionally. My results imply that life for children with no siblings is harder. They have trouble socializing due to the lack of practice at home. 1
The social developments allow the family to have a base of self-esteem with confidence and create stronger relationship bonds with others. Also infants can be shy to talk to other people such as strangers they haven’t seen
In the world we live in today, we see the majority of families being broke up and a lot of single parents. This means that kids do not have the opportunity to have both parents in the same environment to raise them. The reason I chose family as my topic to read about is to learn more about how people were affected from this and how it made them feel. For children to feel like they belong to a family, they need both of their parents there for them, mentally physically and emotionally. The short stories, poems, and plays I read this semester have helped me see and understand how other people feel.
Which affected their grades in school and being social. The authors explain a study they did and explain their results. Provide many facts based on results. Important to my research because it will provide actual facts on an actual study that was
The result of this data forever changed the way a child was nurtured. This experiment demonstrated that love and nurture is the fundament of a child’s growth and without it there can be close to permanent psychological damage made to the child and it can even carry on to adulthood. The child will always need the protection of a mother as shown in the experiment. For example a premature baby needs to be exposed to lots of contact with the mother in order to survive. The same applies to a healthy baby in order to grow affection it needs skin to skin contact to his or her
I chose the topic of transgenderism. Transgender is when an individual tries to switch genders. Transgender comes from the Latin words trans, meaning “across.” Transgender literally means “across gender.” Many trans-individuals decided later on in their lives that they want to switch genders, and other people argue that they were born the wrong gender. Trans-people experience many difficulties throughout their lives. Switching genders makes their lives more challenging, because of many reasons. Their lives are more challenging because of their religion, whether or not they are accepted. The military is very strict, and will not accept trans individuals whatsoever. Insurance companies sometimes will not accept them as well. Trans people are not always accepted by certain occupations. Growing up in schools, trans people are all treated differently regarding to which bathroom/locker room to use. There is a huge debate whether or not trans students are even allowed to participate on sports teams, and if they are, which team to be on. Other obstacles such as birth certificates, passports, and driver’s licenses are all major issues as well. Trans people have to decide if they are willing to come forward, and say ‘This is who I am.’ But before trans-people can come out to other, they must come out to
...more from life and not truly understanding their purpose. Undoubtedly, in our conventional society, family is important for a variety of reasons. We depend on our families to teach us almost everything we know. They help us to understand social interaction and to create the things we consider to be our values. Our family starts our education and most importantly provides a sense of stability and support that can help in every kind of challenging situation. When a family fails in the raising of a child, it is clear in many aspects of the child’s behavior, which goes to show how truly important this family system is. Since the idea has never been used, it is hard to say what would actually happen if the plan was played out, but from the experience that we do have, communally raised children usually suffer negative effects in their ability to form emotional attachments
Researchers from Pennsylvania State University, Leiden University, and University of Western Ontario tested large samples of sibling pairs and put their data together in order to determine the differences in attachment using the Strange Situation Procedure. The Strange Situation Procedure is completed by having the mother and child enter an unfamiliar room to play in, a stranger approaching the baby to play with him or her, and the mother leaving the room. The resulting reactions of the babies will be recorded and categorized. This was a test originally used by Mary Ainsworth to explore the three main styles of attachment. The hypothesis of this experiment was that the attachment re...
Students also created a family portrait in class. They were responsible of drawing and labeling everyone in their family. Then, they wrote on a piece of paper, how they family was special or important to them. I gave them an example that my family is important to me because they take care of me since I am the youngest one. It was very interesting to hear why their family was special to them. We also compared
What issues related to families am I interested in? Why are these areas of interest to me?
These researchers aimed to question whether the mother's postpartum depression/anxiety disorders had an effect on their relationship with their child and if it affected their child's understanding of facial emotions at preschool age. They predicted that children of postpartum depressed and/or anxious mothers would show lower performance on both facial processing than children of control mothers, however it had no relation. In the study, researchers gathered the mothers and tested them for any anxiety or depression disorders. Years later the mothers were gathered again when their children were preschool age,and the children were evaluated for any FEE processing skills. They used “The Eyes Test” by Baron Cohen and other testing such as SETK 3-5, SCID-1, and FEE processing. The sample was not representative , in conclusion that their were only 32 women in the experimental group and 29 in the control, therefore it could not accurate for a whole population. The research have them some insight, however there was no correlation between the evidence. Some of the variables that had a play in the research were whether the mother had schizophrenia or had any past psychiatric diagnosis or therapy, at least 18 years of age, and had to speak german, and that most of the children were boys. The research did have bias on the selection of women considering all of them had to speak german. Researchers found
Explain how social backgrounds, professional backgrounds and cultural backgrounds affect relationships and the way people communicate.
The study followed more than 1500 children from the seventh all the way to the ninth grade across four waves of information. There main focal point of the experiment was African American women which came out to be more than 700 girls. More than forty percent of their parents were married and about forty-three percent of the families proclaimed an average of two children living in the household. Parents who had more than one kid completed the survey and were had to select the youngest child that participated in the study. They got kids from the most diverse districts across the Midwest during the years of 2010-2013.They were curious to see if schools with more Black people, more white people, or culturally diverse would have an impact on success opinions. They gave them information folders to their houses, and parents gave authorization by signing and returning the form before taking of the survey. Students were given gift card for completing the
I can atone to this. My son was the only child for seven years. He was not allowed to go outside to play because I did not know anyone living close by. He is delayed in speech and socially. He was diagnosed with Autism, but I am sure it is because of lack of interaction with his peers outside of the daycare he used to attend. According to Erickson’s psychosocial theory, “The environment in which a child grows in has a great influence on the personalities that they develop and this mainly because they learn mostly through
My topic choice is one that gets attention, as many people are struck with an empathetic response, especially in regards to children. I had sources for each of my main points and sources to back up my supporting statements. Particularly, I think I did well by using statistical information, such as the number of children that go without education worldwide and the poverty rate comparison between the United States and Sub-Saharan Africa. I also remembered to cite each of these sources verbally throughout the presentation.
Everyone is born into some form of family, with the family taking the responsibility of nurturing, teaching the norms or accepted behaviors within the family structure and within society. There are many types of families, which can be described as a set of relationships including parents and children and can include anyone related by blood or adoption. Family is the most important, “for it is within the family that the child is first socialized to serve the needs of the society and not only its own needs” (Goode, 1982).
