-Do you agree with these 5 sports being added to the Olympic Games? Why or why not? Are these sports Olympic worthy?

Adding baseball/softball, karate, surfing, skateboarding and sports climbing is an interesting decision because this is a wide variety of sports. Baseball/softball and karate seem to fit in more with the modern idea of the Olympic games while surfing, skateboarding and sports climbing are somewhat of the odd sports out. I think this begs the question though, what does make a sport Olympic worthy? What makes one sport more Olympic worthy than another one? If the athletes are not interested in having the honor to play in the Olympic Games because they already have a busy schedule during that time, the governing body should allow amateur athletes to compete instead. I believe most amateur athletes would jump at the opportunity to represent their home country at what is arguably the highest level. This is the same situation that golf faced in the Olympics in 2016. Male professional golfers have many opportunities to play in high profile events that pay out high purses while female professional golfers do not have nearly as many opportunities or the high purses that the men do. This led to many more high-ranked female golfers wanting to play in the Olympic Games in comparison to the men. So many of the high ranked men’s players decided to skip the Olympics citing their busy schedules or the zika virus while there were no high profile women golfers that made the same decision. The women were so happy for the opportunity to play in a high profile event that they were willing to take the risk with the Zika and find time in their own busy schedules to show up to represent their
