Officer Class in Journey’s End
During the World War many people found themselves in mid filled
trenches eating rations and living with a host of creatures including
rats, mice and many insects. There was however a group of people who
did not sleep so rough, the officers, no matter what rank of officer
you were you would sleep in a quarters with other officers and not
with the men and you would have your own personal cook. Although the
living conditions were not up to standards with even a one star hotel,
they were easier to bear than what the soldiers had to. In this essay
I will be talking about what you learn about the officers in the book
“Journey’s End”. I will be discussing their hobbies and values.
The officers shared the same kind of upbringing; all came from private
schools and were highly educated. Raleigh and Stanhope both came from
the same school and were friends outside school, often visiting one
and others homes. Osborne and Trotter have been working in different
jobs for a while before being drafted whereas Stanhope and Raleigh
came straight from school into the officer’s life. Not much is known
about trotter as he is not talked about much in the story but it is my
assumption that he was also from a private school.
Osborne and Trotter were both drafted as officers because of their
professions; they are both regarded highly in society. Stanhope and
Raleigh however were drafted as officers because of the professions of
family members, Stanhope’s father is a vicar and Raleigh’s uncle is a
senior officer, meaning he is most likely from a military background.
In terms of age of the officers, Osborne is by far the most aged of
the officers being called uncle says this quite clearly that they are
mocking his age in a friendly manner. Though Osborne is older Stanhope
is senior to him, many comments are made that Osborne should run the
company but Osborne sticks up for the young commander. Although
Stanhope is superior he values the opinion of his lower officers.
It is clear from the conversations that they all enjoy sport,
especially “Ruggers” or rugby as more commonly known. It shows that
they are all abundant in physical strength and it shows that Stanhope
has good leadership skills as he captained the cricket team in school.
Osborne however trumps him by telling Raleigh how he capped for the
England rugby team, but he swore Raleigh to secrecy so he may be lying
about that.
The officers are all fighting so that they can get back to their

Cop in the Hood has taught me a lot about how police work in a city really is. The chapter titled “911 is a Joke” intrigued me the most, for mostly two reasons. First the story at the beginning of the chapter really put perspective on how some people really live in the inner cities and how a police officer would have to react to the situation. Secondly, growing up in a middle class suburb I was always taught the 911 was only to be called in a time of emergency. It was a sacred number that I had never had to call. Me and my friends would joke on each other and type “911” on our flip phones and threaten to call, but never will. When Moskos said the 911 was a joke I was taken back by it because it when against everything I was taught.
End of Watch (Ayer, 2012) is a film which follows the lives of two police officers, partners Brian Taylor and Mike Zavala, in the Los Angeles Police Department. The movie is shot in the style of a documentary and because of this the film centralized on these two officers and their patrols. When the film began Taylor and Zavala had just successfully apprehended two suspects in a high speed car chase which they were praised for by other officers and members of the department. From then on out the officers made a number of impressive arrests, rescues, and discoveries the two partners made throughout the film. Unfortunately for the Taylor and Zavala, their successfulness in investigating and apprehending locations and suspects of a drug ring caught the attention of the leaders of a Mexican drug cartel.
In conclusion, David Hackett Fischer effectively tells the story of Paul Revere's ride in a way that completely and accurately depicts the events. By developing many of the historical figures that are not as well known as Paul Revere, Hackett Fischer gives the reader a more distinctive understanding of these particular historical events. Paul Revere's Ride also personalizes these events by providing numerous first hand accounts that strengthen the imagery. As a whole, the novel is an effective and interesting historical account that accurately tells the famed story of Paul Revere's midnight ride.
Is there anything that could justify Deputy Sheriff Fields, the SRO at Spring Valley High School, treating this teenage girl like this?
My interest in law enforcement grew in me at a young age probably around the age of 8. I would always watch the show Cops and that got me really interested. It was not until the age of 10 that I said to myself that I wanted to be a police officer or something in that field. During my years in junior high one of the officers who worked there told me about a program called police explorers, once he explained the program to me I knew that that was what I wanted to do: police work. A week after I turned fourteen I decided to join the Costa Mesa Police explorer program, in order to get I accepted to the program I had to attend four consecutive meetings and on my fourth meeting I was given an application the following week I was interviewed by four police officer; it was scary. This program has taught me many lessons such as responsibility, respect, integrity and many other qualities that one must have to be considered eligible for police work.
Recently in the United States there has been in increase in deaths that have come from police officers using deadly force. The use of force is inevitable as a police officer, many times their own lives or the life’s civilians are at risk when it comes to determine what type of force a officer should use. There are many incidents where police officer have to react in a matter of seconds and has to choose between his own life or that of the individual causing the disturbance. When a Police Officer uses deadly force has caused outraged with the public, stirring up protests and creating a scandal for the police officer and the Police Department. Many do not know when it is right for an officer to use deadly force and what constitutes it, or what happens when the officer does not use the appropriate amount of force that is required to control the situation. There has been many changes in Police Departments around the country to try to reduce the use of deadly force in response to the issues that have occurred because of it.
I believe the chain of command is important in a police agency for many reasons. It is a roadmap that shows the route within the organization that order would flow coming down through the organization or that requests flow going up the organization, like a two-way street. The chain of command also establishes formal lines of communication within the department for organizational purposes and it must be used by everyone to communicate formally. This will eliminate crucial departmental problems. For example, if the chief administrative level does not follow the chain of command downward and gives an order directly to the patrol officer, this could cause confusion. For example, the supervisory level might feel that it is alright to do the same thing sending information up the chain. The purpose of the chain of command is to show individuals who their bosses are, from the chief

The lack of training police officers is causing unnecessary incidents, is it true? Does the lack of Critical thinking, values, Ethics and Understanding the role as a police officer contribute to hire number of incidents? There is a chance that answer to this questions might always be divided, why? Well because officers will tend to defend their side and how the view the problem and the public will also defend their side and how they view the problem, for example most officers would probably say that people do not comply with their orders or the public might outcry because of the use of excessive force, it is most certain that there will never be an agreement on who is wright or wrong. Regardless of the outcome of who is wright
In reaching a goal, it is not so much the goal that is important as it is the compilation of planned, concise, and well thought-out steps used in fortifying the achievement. In section II-a I stated my personal and professional goals. My plan was to attain the rank of Petty Officer First Class, get selected as Sailor of the Year, and complete my Bachelors in Information Technology. By implementing DAPPS and its Sub-Goals in I will be able to narrow my focus and more specifically the steps needed to reach my goal.
It has always been my dream to become an officer in the military ever since I was young. My uncle was in the military and loved it, he always told me stories about it and how much he enjoyed it. Growing up hearing his stories and seeing his uniform made me want to do it one day. Well, for me that one day is here now and I am proud to put on that uniform and call myself a soldier. I have always been a leader in my family, my community, and in my life in general. I like to not just be in charge but, I like to inspire those around me. I enjoy setting the example for those around me to follow.
When you think of police what does it mean to you? The responsibility of a police officer is to protect the public and to serve the community. Also, they detect and to prevent crime, police officers strive to maintain the law. New police officers work with the general duty as patrol divisions, that provides a range of experiences and assignments. The General duty of policing involves patrolling in assigned areas to enforce laws, protect public safety, and arrest criminal suspects either by car, foot, bicycle, or in some cases, horse.
