In reaching a goal, it is not so much the goal that is important as it is the compilation of planned, concise, and well thought-out steps used in fortifying the achievement. In section II-a I stated my personal and professional goals. My plan was to attain the rank of Petty Officer First Class, get selected as Sailor of the Year, and complete my Bachelors in Information Technology. By implementing DAPPS and its Sub-Goals in I will be able to narrow my focus and more specifically the steps needed to reach my goal.

There is not guarantee that I will be selected for SOY and thought it may seem to be an easy task the effort put forth in working towards SOY can be quit stressful as meeting deadlines and managing the workload can be a heavy burden. Never the less with problem-focus-coping, attempting to alleviate stress directly(Myers 2014) such as planning out the workday and setting goals to meet deadlines I can ensure that I will not become over stress and in fact I will be able to minimize my stress or Minimizing my stress or will allow me to work more proficiently and keep me on the right track while building up my perpetrate as a Sailor of the Year candidate GOAL 3: Receiving my Bachelors in Information Technology I have a total of 84 credit remaining before I can receive my bachelors. I plan to complete my bachelors by December 1, 2016. If I continue to work at my current pace I may even be able to complete my degree earlier than anticipated. Unlike my other to goals receive my bachelors will benefit me both within the navy and my personal career once I retire from the service. Additionally receiving my bachelors will give me two more points towards advancement and increasing my chances of becoming a First Class Petty Officer and Sailor of the Year.

I have a bad habit of procrastinating when I am not interest in a certain subject. Ultimately it leads to me having to rush through projects rather than take my time with them. This leads to poor performance and a reduced feeling of self-worth. Procrastination has become such a bad habit for me. It is very hard to stop procrastinating everything once you have gotten into the habit of doing it. Once I had a term paper due for my religion class. It was to be ten pages long and we were told to spend a lot of time doing it. Being the procrastinator that I am, I waited to the very last minute to do it. I waited until the night before to do most of it. Needless to say, I was up very late that night. In this class there was always a part of the paper due on a certain date before the final paper was due. Having things due before the final paper is due keeps me on task and keeps me from procrastinating until the day before the paper is due. There was one paper which we had to get sources for a while before the paper was due and it forced me to keep up with the paper, rather than let it go to the last minute. This class has taught me that the earlier you start the more positive your final result will be.
In conclusion, the ability for sailors to better their career has been taken out of their hands, and relies too much on external entities. Advancement is not based on one’s abilities to excel at his or her job, but by hoping they earn more money for the commands Navy Day Ball, they must have faith that the standardized test will cover their job field, and that the writing ability of their superiors is good enough to keep them competitive. Once these aspects under the advancement criteria are changed, the navy as a whole will start seeing more effective leaders who understands their jobs, understand their people, and more closely reflect the ideals and traits required in today’s leaders.
My immediate short term goals are to get through my last three science classes and submit my application to the program. Hopefully, with hard work, I will be admitted right away. I have a few ideas toward which specialty I would like to pursue but am hoping that clinical work will solidify my decisions in that department. The next step is to graduate with my ASN/RN and pass the NCLEX. From this point, I plan to find an entry level position and gaining experience that will help me land a position I am truly passionate about.
My name is Staff Sargent Carl Kortum. I have been in the military for just under 10 years and have completed 59 college credit hours. I am currently working toward a degree in Information Technology to advance my career and to make myself more marketable when I retire from the military. Through my experiences with the military and college I have determined that no one learning type is more important than the other, regardless of the student. Instead it is more important to use all learning types than to focus on one.
Setting a timer can also help because you get to work on it for a minute, then come back at it after 60 seconds. Breaking down tasks into smaller amounts will help you with having to overwhelm yourself with so much. Sometimes you can even help yourself by simply giving treats after a task or being able to know that you can use social media after getting done with the work/task. Also, telling yourself that no one is perfect can actually help with failure because you will think less of trying to be perfect. Then you will actually try to do your task because you won’t be afraid of failure. Since procrastinators tend to say that the tasks are boring you can have a twist, and try to play a game to see how many of the task you can get done in such amount of time. It’s a good method for those who say the task are boring and they lack motive. Stop thinking about other things and focus on what needs to be done. Keeping track of the assignments that are due, and knowing which ones you have to finish first, and working along the way to get all of them done. Timing yourself in an assignment will actually make you want to do it because you got a certain amount time to get things done. Motivating yourself for 5 minutes
I have always been a straight A student, so my number one academic goal is to maintain that streak all though college. Another goal of mine is to finish my core classes early so I can have a bump free senior year. By taking Dual credit and classes throughout the summer I can reduce my workload later on in the future. The first step in reaching a long-term goal is to understand the S.M.A.R.T. the goal process. Creating and achieving goals are some important things that people want to do in their lives and learn to accomplish or achieve them. The goals can be small, big, long, short, simple, complicated, hard, objective, career, life, educational, professional and it can be for anything such as health, job, work, you, the people that are around you, friends, family, the world, history, culture and advocacy. In order to accomplish or achieve these goals, you need to have a lot of time, effort, proficiency, patience and perseverance. Goals are the ones to be proud of because we are accomplishing them every day you just do not realize it.
While in high school, I took many Advanced Placement classes and passed the accompanying exams. Because of this, I was able to begin college with many of my general education credits already completed. This has allowed me to fulfill all but one of the general education classes required by UC Santa Cruz. I will complete my final remaining general education course in Winter quarter 2017. Having finished these requirements will allow me to focus exclusively on classes for my major and possible minor without the distraction of lower division classes.
